INTRODUCTION Organisation leadership and management is an approach of the business in order to provide the best to each and every individual that are linked with the company that is either the single person or the group. It is the attitude of the company towards the work ethics that motivates an individual to work in any role or at any position. Organisation works effectively with the contribution of both management and the leadership as they both imparts the positivism in the working environment of the company that motivates each individual to perform their work with more perfection(Mansouri,2018). Management is the process through which the different operation that is performed within the company will be managed well while leadership is the quality in an individual that supports and influence the working criteria and performance of each individual. Leadership and management are somehow relatable two each other but the manager could be the leader while it is not mandatory that the leader could become the manager. Leadership is the vital functions that are played by the management that supports or helps the companytogetachievetheirobjectiveandgoalswithinthespecifiedperiodoftime. Organisation leadership is an approach of the company to get accomplishes their target within the timely manner and with more effectiveness. This report is based on the NHS leadership academy that will develop the different leadership program and they works with the motive to get provide the excellent leadership all across the NHS that has the direct impact on the healthcare patients. On 1 April of 2019 the NHS will expand their business in the NHS England in order to improve the long term plan of NHS. This report includes the different concepts of leadership and the management theories or the literatures. Furthermore includes the importance of leadership training development for an organisation with the benefits of the leadership program. MAIN BODY Discuss the leadership and management literatures/theories As per the viewpoint of Terina Allen, 2018, leadership is the behaviour or a style of an individual through which they could influence the other in order to enhance their performance and working abilities. Whereas, on the other hand management is the practice through which the company will manage, plan, control, coordinate, direct and implement different functions within the business in order to develop more and more profit and higher sales. Leadership needs the 1
maximum number of followers who follows them and that will figure out the influence level of a leader(Bush, 2019). Whereas, themanagementistheplanningand controllingdifferent activities through which company could gain the success and growth within the certified period of time. The manager will perform their entire task by themselves achieve their objective by applying their own efforts. There are some of the basic concepts of leadership are as they work with more honesty, commitment, courage, competency and also known for the four factor as like followers, communication, leader and situations. They themselves known their strength and weaknessand developthe skills, knowledgeand experienceor othersaswell.Whereas management is an art of completing the different things in a systematic manner that up-raises the working standard of the company and they are the backbone of the company as from their contribution different function will be performed with more easiness. As per the viewpoint of Nikita Duggal 2020, There are some difference between the leadership and the management that are as defined as like Thinking process in this leadership is the style through which the leaders of NHS will focus on the employees and always looks outwards in order to get influenced the people from their working style. While Management is the process through the mangers of the NHS would focus on the different function that are performed within the business and always looks inwards in order to raise the standard and market value of the company. In employee relation leaders has the strong relation with the employees as with empowers and encourages them to perform their work with concentration and in builds the trust and more confidence in the employees by which they could perform their task with more easiness(Burnes,2018) Whereas, managers are those that control the employees and try to improvise their performance and they have their subordinates as well that further provide the information to the lower level employees in order to maintain the complete cycle. They direct with the coordinate and perform the better flow of information within the NHS. In Goal setting the leaders have the articulate vision and produce the future plan for the employees by which they could gain the higher advantages in their life. They create and build the better future of the employees that enhance the performance level of the employees. Whereas, managers of NHS performs different operations in order to gain high advantage from the competitive market. NHS in which the employees didn’t work for the salary only they work with more enthusiasm. Whereas, managers always do the right things that are in the favour of the NHS and manage the different change within the company in order to achieve the better outcome within the timely manner. In authority the leader is those who influence the employees of the NHS and reduces the different conflicts from the company and acts as more decisive in which takes the decision for the betterment of the NHS and the employees (Coulson-Thomas,2018). On the other hand managers of the NHS use the authority and assign different duties and roles to the employees as per their experience and knowledge. They act with more respondents and guide the company to make the better decision for the improvement of the company. There are different theories that show the concept of the leadership and management practices that are implies within the NHS and these are as defines below as: Behavioural Theories As per the viewpoint of Ben Mulholland, 2019, It is the theory that explains the behaviour of an each individual that are performed within the company and it includes the complete analysis and the different consequences that affects the performance of each of the employees. It is the theory that is developed by the B.F. Skinner who performed his work by compare it with the psychology as from the 1930 to 1950 and until his death in 1990 this theory remains the best theory of behaviourism that is also known as radical behaviourism. This theory is based on the concept of stimulus response that is also termed as S-R equation. It is also known as the behaviour psychology that is based on the learning that states that behaviour will always get changes as per the conditions. It is a theory that attempts to understand and knowing the different factors that affects the behaviour of employees that further affects the behaviour of an organisation as well(McShane, 2018). There are different conditions that get changes as per the working and outer environment that keeps on changing as per the influences of different other factors. Behavioural believes that the behaviour of an individual will get affects as per the stimuli reaction of the people as accords to the different actions and the shapes. This is the theory that attempts to resolve the various factors that keep arises within the NHS as per the changing behaviour of the employees. It includes the several impacts of the environment, behavioural and the personal characteristics as in order to determine the behaviour of employees. The behaviour of an employee not only get affected by the different condition in the job there some other factor as well that affects the behaviour and that might be either personal or professional. 3
The behavioural theory promotes the values of the leaders and the managers within the company. As the leadership style generate more values within the company that emphasis the concern about the employees and the effective collaboration that improvise the working environment of the company. It is the theory that also helps the manager by which they could find out or match up the right value of the different style that is implemented by the leadership. The managers also help the leader in order to maintain the balance relation with the employees and shown their concern about the productivity of the company that will be generated as per the contribution of the employees(Obholzer,2018). Behavioural theory has a huge focus on the working style of the leader as it is the quality of an individual that will be with that person as from their birth while management is the quality that will be generated as per the experiences and the knowledge that is gained as per the time. As with the help of this theory the leaders will manage the behaviour of the employees by assuming their conditions and then provide the adequate solution of that and then try to improvise the performance of them. Whereas, the behaviourism theory of management is also known as the human relation theory of management as in this the manager will address the different behaviour of the human that changes as per the variation of different relations.Human relation theoryas it is the theory in which the manager of the NHS will make the interaction with the employees in order to provide the best and the free environment to the employees. This theory believes that if the company will focus on the morale and believe of the employees that the employees will get motivated and it reflects the better performance of them. It is the approach of the company through which they could make the better communication with the employees by which the productivity of the company get on increases and it reflects on the increment performance of the company. It is the theory that is described by the Elton Mayo that is known as the father of human relation. He conduct an experiment in the Hawthorne plant of electric company and measure the impact of the different working conditions. Trait theory of leadership As per the viewpoint of Kendra Cherry, 2019, It is the theory that defines that leader are born and they have that quality to get influenced others in order to perform their work with more perfection and traits are more suit to the leadership(Doyle,2018). It is a theory that is introduced by the Thomas Carlyle and it is also tied as the Great man theory of leadership. He described that people who have introvert personality they are more timid and has less social skills and also 4
doesn’t have that ability to get lead the team or become the follower. It is also known as dispositional theory and it is approach through which the personality of an individual will get noticed that must get changes or effected as per the different pattern of behaviour, emotions and the thoughts of the people. It is as known for the personality development or analysis through which the ability of an individual will get measured that defines the power or skills towards the accomplishment of work. Whereas, trait theory is the most important theory that defined the psychology that further supports to indentify the personality of an employees. It is the theory that is used for both the successful and the unsuccessful leader in order to predict the effectiveness and efficiency of the leaders(Jena,2018). The result will get used to compare the potential of the leaders to assess the success and failure in their likelihood. It provides the constructive information about the leadership approach as it could be apply to all the people that are working within the company. Trait theory has provide the belief that leaders are born not be create or made by anyone it is something that is related with the arts and science. There are few Similarities between the leadership and management practices in both the theories as it emphasis the action of the leader as they are capable of giving the solution in every condition. As per the trait theory the leader has the sense to measure the personality of an individual and defines that everyone has its own potential of doing a task or performing their work. There are some difference between the leadership and management as well as like the behaviours theory is a democratic kind of theory in which leader are free and influenced the behaviour of an each individual as per providing them adequate training and development. Whereas in the trait theory leader has those abilities to perform and guide the personality of each individual that collectively improvises the performance of the company. Evaluate the leadership development programme There is the importance of leadership training and development for NHS as well as it develops the behaviour, positive attitude, belief and values towards the patients and thus provides more care to them by which they get resolve their issue with more comfort(Bigby, 2019).Effective leadership is important for an organisation to accomplish its goals as the leaders are the one who influence and motivate the employees to contribute to the objective of the organisation. It becomes important for the organisation to consider various training and development programs for the leaders so that they can effectively execute their roles.
