An effective and cohesive team performs well when all the team members are aware and concerned of their own responsibilities. However, it must be noted that despite of well-defined roles and responsibilities, a team might experience challenges because of certain shortcomings. Each of Belbin’s team roles has provided with set of distinctiveness, strengths as well as weaknesses. The immense impact and influence of recruitment plan on team building can be defined by the Belbin’s theory of team roles. Belbin’s definition of team roles has been categorized into three different groups namely, action oriented, people-oriented roles and thought-oriented roles(Batenburg, van Walbeek& in der Maur, 2013). The action-oriented roles comprise of shaper, completer finisher and implementer characters. While the people-oriented roles comprise of individuals characterizes teamwork, resource investigation and harmonization. The thought-oriented roles involve plant, monitor evaluation and expert. During team building, the Belbin model is considered as an effective tool to ensure improved level of team building processes(Gold et al., 2013). Belbin is globally regarded as the yardstick for measuring as well as describing the nine major sets of behavioral patterns that characterize both individuals as well as collective teamwork. For example, Nike is immensely popular for its unique team building approaches, which further works to create a culture, which succeeds through effective team building as well as team performance.
