INTRODUCTION
Organizational behaviour is defined as application of knowledge and systematic study
about how groups of people and individuals act within companies. It is considered as subset of
management activities concerned with comprehending, predicting and influencing workers
behaviour in organizations. This topic is very essential to understand in 21st century because it
helps firms to understand impact of varied activities on performance of staff and allow them to
achieve good management in an firm. The purpose of this study is to explain the impact of
power, politics and culture impact on individual and team behaviour & performance.
Furthermore, this assignment will explain effectiveness of process and content concepts of
motivation and motivational techniques in context of achieving organizational aims. This report
will justify the concept of team development and philosophies of organizational behaviour in
regard to Amazon.
MAIN BODY
1) Back ground of Amazon
Amazon is one of the world’s biggest online retailers and a prominent cloud service
providers companies. It was founded in 5 July, 1994 by Jeff Bezos in Bellevue, Washington. The
organization started their business as an online marketplace for books, but later they expanded to
sell software, furniture, jewellery, video games, toys, apparel, electronic items and now Amazon
is selling groceries to its consumers around all over the world (Wingfield, Mozur and Corkery,
2018). Company has build up a inventory, customers service and shipping empire that permit its
management and site to offer everything from groceries to lawn furniture to janitorial supplies.
Accordant to recent sector figures, chosen firm is leading e-retailer in US with close to 250.5
billion United State dollars in 2019 net sales. Organization set their mission statement through
which they can achieve greater success. Its mission is to continually increase bar of buyers
experience by utilizing technology and internet to aid people to search, discover and purchase
anything and empower ventures and content creators to increase organizational success.
2) Impact of politics, culture and power on behaviour of others in company
Organizational culture-
The culture of an organization is defined as collection of expectations, values and
effective practices that direct and inform activities of group members (Felipe, Roldán, and Leal-

Rodríguez, 2017). Organization’s culture can defines appropriate ways to behave and act in big
companies like Amazon.
Influence of culture on Amazon behaviour-
There are varied types of culture related to companies are identified in the world of
business that directly influence chosen company behaviour and performance. It mainly affects
motivation, promoted team and individual learning and enhances organizational values, solving
conflicts and group decision making. Positive culture at workplace drive firm towards taking
right decisions in context of employee well being. There are few models accessible in
commercial world that can be used to define organizational culture, its types and impact on
performance of team and individual as well as their behaviour.
Forms of organization culture and their affect on companies-
Handy’s Typology-
Handy’s organizational culture concept is one of the best models that a firm can use to
identify the impact of business culture on individual and team performance & behaviour. This
model is consisting of four different forms of cultures (do Carmo Silva and Gomes, 2019).
Power culture-
In this type of culture, decision making authority is held by few people in Amazon whose
influence spreads throughout venture when he or she use their power fairly while appraising
workers performance and hard work. It influences team and individual performance as well as
their reaction in positive way. On the other side, power culture influence performance and
behaviour of each worker in company negatively when manager plan to appraise and reward
their favourite applicant only, it affect business as well in term of decreasing their productivity.
Task culture-
This culture forms when team in Amazon can be divided to address specific thing or to
get success in particular task (Anand, Vidyarthi and Rolnicki, 2018). It affects behaviour and
performance of both parties in positive manner because work to team and individual can be
allotted base on their abilities. It allows everyone to be productive and feel positive at work area
as this type of culture in organization can definitely increase performance and productivity of
business. But this kind of culture can impact on companies in negative manner, when tasks have
not been provided according to workers skills. It affects workers performance and they cannot be
able to work for long which turn into reducing operational effectiveness and sales of firm.
