1ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOURS Introduction The applicability and relevance of organizational behavior theories are pretty high in the workplace of mine. Organizational behavior helps to study the individual human behavior in reference to the settings of the organization. It rotates around the study of individuals, teams or groups as well as the entire organization, which actually helps to analyze the behavior. I work as a Store Manager in Asda, which is a subsidiary of Wal-Mart and based in Leeds. Walmart is a multinational retail chain business based in USA. The organization operates as a departmental store where huge discounts are given on the products sold there. The organization was established by Sam Walton in the year of 1962. The headquarter of the organization is in Bentonville, Arkansas. The company has its business in more than 27 countries with more than 11,000 outlets present in these regions. In terms of revenue, Wal- Mart is the largest company across the globe. Apart from this, the company is also the largest private employer globally. Asda is a grocery chain and operates like that still after the acquisition by Walmart, and the store hugely focuses on the non-food items in its 633 stores across the world. The low pricing strategy has helped the organization to capture the large international market. Wal-Mart focuses on improving the business value by surveying the growth opportunities and mixing the core values of the organization to each and every aspect of the business (Eisenberger, Malone & Presson 2016). Analyzing the Situation Faced But recently, the diverse business environment has issued different challenges for the organization. The demand as well as the motivating factors are changing due to the change in the socio-economic structure and multicultural approach. It has been a major challenge for me, being the Store Manager to manage all the employees in order to uplift the overall performanceoftheorganization.Wal-Marthasbeenfacingsomeissuesrelatedto
2ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOURS organizational behavior globally. The situation which I am facing is the mistreatment with the employees with the other managers of the organization (O'Neill, Beauvais, & Scholl 2016). The leadership role is in jeopardy in the organization of Wal-Mart. I can see that the employees are not motivated enough in the store due to some reasons. Low wage rate is creating a problem in the organization, whereas the same rate is comparatively high in the rival companies. The cost-cutting activities are being strictly controlled by the organization of Wal-Mart. The company is reducing the benefits given to the employees along with their wages, and this is creating a negative feedback and increasing the tendency of leaving the organizationamongtheemployees.Everybusinessentityinvolvesinastrategyof maximization of the profit. According to the Herzberg’s Two Factor Theory of Motivation, there are two factors related with the motivation of the employeesat the workplace (Alshmemri,Shahwan-Akl & Maude 2017). The hygiene factorsinclude the working conditions, job security, interpersonal relationships, salary and management and supervision. Absence of any of these factors can lead to demotivate the employees, like the situation which I am facing right now in the organization. The performance of the employees is also getting hampered due to this. The employees are calling strikes in other outlets also as thy are not getting adequate amount of salary. They are not working efficiently enough, which is hampering the revenue generation of the company (Yusoffet al2013). Strategy Development The organization needs to assess the situation so that it has a positive influence among the employees, and timely reward should be given to motivate them enough to not leave this organization and join the rival companies. The employee benefits should be given to the employees of the outlets, like rewarding the employee who will meet the weekly targets, or will achieve the daily hourly targets. This kind of rewarding benefits will motivate the employees to perform better, so that the sales is not hampered in the outlets and the revenue
3ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOURS generation is also not affected by the organization. Salary should be paid in time, and some bonus should be given according to the performances and attendances of the employees and maintenance of cordial relationship with the customers visiting the outlets. Motivating the employees is one of the major organizational behavior aspect which should be maintained highly in each of the outlets of Wal-Mart, as this will not hamper the brand image of the organization (McShane & Von Glinow2013)
