This article discusses the objectives, outputs, inclusions and exclusions of understanding patient adherence, including policy documents, staff and patient education packages, and evaluation frameworks. The objective is to measure patient satisfaction with administering medication and provide evidence-based rationale for self-administration programs. Outputs include policy documents, staff and patient education packages, and evaluation frameworks. Inclusion criteria include older age people with chronic conditions who have been admitted to a short stay unit and are taking oral medication without assistance. Exclusion criteria include injectable and schedule 8/4D medication, pediatric patients, cognitive impairment, history of depression with poor literacy, mental health disorder diagnosis, and learning disability.
