SAMPI is a program designed to increase patients' understanding of their self-administration in medication, promote their independence and autonomy in the hospital setting, and provide an evidence-based rationale for the self-administration medication program. The program includes policy documents, staff education packages, patient education packages, and an evaluation framework. SAMPI is only carried out on the Short Stay Unit and is approved for eligibility by treating doctor/pharmacist after review of medication.
