1PEOPLE, LEADERSHIP AND PERFORMANCEGroup Development ProcessBruce Tuckman has proposed a four stage model of group development. The first stage isthe forming phase where various groups meet and discuss the opportunities and challenges. Inthis stage, the role of the individuals is not clear and the members need to take guidance from themanagers. The second stage is known as storming and in this stage it can be clearly understoodas to how different decisions are made within the team. In this stage, though the purpose of theteam is not clear but a rough idea can be made of the team. In the third stage, i.e. the normingstage it becomes easier to understand the relationships in the team. In this stage, the commitmentof the team members for the development and fulfillment of the team goals can also beunderstood. In the fourth stage i.e. the performing stage the team members focuses on differentstrategies and the team tries to perform well. Group development process will help me in my future career. I will know how to formdifferent groups and their roles and responsibilities in different stages. It will help me to becomethe team leader of any company and work in accordance with my team members. It will be alsoeasier for me to build positive and healthy relationships with my team members. I will also knowabout the roles and responsibilities of the team leader and thus this will help me to go ahead inmy career. Team WorkTeamwork is a dynamic process and it involves two or more persons with complementaryskills and backgrounds. It is a very crucial and important part of business. In a team, peoplealways try to co-operate with each other using their skills and thus provide constructivefeedback. Teamwork also helps in the removal of personal conflict between the individuals.
