Introduction
Performance appraisal is a method to evaluate the performance of different individuals
working in the company. It is used to evaluate the current performance of workforce in order to
identify the scope of future improvement (Lin and Kellough, 2019). In the study Jury Inn is taken
into consideration that is a well-known organization based on UK. The study aims to evaluate the
impact of performance appraisal in terms of improving the performance of staff of the company.

Rational of research:
The study will help in developing knowledge of different aspects of performance
management and its impact on the employees (Rubin and Edwards, 2020). It will assist
researcher in terms of preparing suitable strategies for performance enhancement of workforce.
Apart from the professional development, there is also scope of enhancing personal knowledge
and skills.

Scope of research:
The present research has a wide scope in terms of applying the theories and models of
performance appraisal for further enhancement of workforce of the respective company. It will
also help in developing necessary strategies for improving the performance level of workforce in
an efficient manner.

According to Pollock, (2018), the main objective or working of Human Resource involves
regulating performance management through creation of space where employees can produce a
excellent performance with proper implementation of strategies. Effective performance
management plays an important role in creating a environment and involves constructive
feedback, interpersonal relationships, teamwork and leadership. There are various strategies
which are used for effective performance management in Jurys Inn. It is important to consider all
the aspects under the umbrella of performance management. It involves various steps such as
monitoring expectations for planning ways and work performance to meet these expectations,
continually developing a capacity for optimal performance, offering rewards and praise for
performance and setting expectations for work performance and planning ways to meet these
expectations.
In terms of performance appraisal, these criteria ensure that organisation is providing and
working at its best to optimal service or output. With the time, effective management should lead
to organisation success and growth. In order to meet company goals and performance
expectations it is important to make employees understand the objectives of the company. A
good performance management system helps in traditional reviews which is quite employee
friendly and allows for actionable and quick reporting. There are a total of six performance
management strategies that involves defining and communicating performance objectives and
company goals, utilizing performance management software, offering frequent performance
feedback, using peer reviews, setting regular meetings to discuss results and outcomes and pre
emptive recognition and management.

As per the viewpoint of Reynolds, (2019), increasing the productivity of staff can be a tough
job. In order to build a positive relationship among employees and company, paying wages or
salary usually isn't enough. There are various ways through which performance appraisal can
create a major impact on employee's productivity. Salary is the only thing that motivates
employees to perform in a workplace. In order to increase employee's productivity, the
employees should be given perks based on their performance this will work as a good strategy in
increasing productivity. Some employees don't feel valued in their roles and in order to increase
employees productivity it is important that the organisations treat their employees as a important
part in the company. There are number of perks that involves flexible working hours, childcare
options, public holidays and time off for birthdays. In some organisations, employees appreciate
the option to work from home. There are various ways to improve productivity and ensuring that
employees are satisfied in all the working areas which will result in positive impact on their
performance. The employee is considered to be a important aspect in any organisation and in
order to make them perform better in the organisation. A healthy working environment not only
motivates employees but make them feel better about themselves and creates a sense of
belongingness. Each employee is a serious investment for a company, so the return that each
employee provides must be significant.

the business. The main objective is to continuously improve the efficiency and quality of the
workforce. But without a clear understanding it is tough to understand the factors that influence
employee performance. The employee performance is basically defined as the way an employee
fulfil their responsibilities and execute their tasks. The performance helps in identifying the
contribution of employee in an organisation. In order to gain maximum benefit from an
employee it is important to manage and implement employee performance improvements which
need to be goal-oriented and concrete. The employee's performance is basically determined by
few factors which involves practical, physical and emotional factors through cultivating open
and healthy communication, creating concrete goals and providing training to the employees in
order to motivate them for achievement of goals and objectives in the organisation.

A happy workplace helps to cultivate an enjoyable and healthy environment that allows
employees to give input in regards to the design of workspace. Overall, the employees are more
productive and motivated when they are valued, supported with the required resources in the
organisation. In order to manage the performance of employees it involves in depth
understanding of individuals and their ability to encourage development and growth. In the era
of digital marketing, it is important to measure the employee's performance. If the employees
knows the required metrics it will help to analyse and measure in order to manage and monitor
their performance and empowering employees to perform better in the organisation. It also
involves boosting team morale and maintaining positive communication with the employees.
Methodology
Research philosophy: In research, there are two major philosophies are used such
as positivism and interpretivism (Staron, 2020). In context of present study the philosophy
which is applied is positivism due to its potential of driving effective and accurate results.
Research Approach: Here, inductive and deductive are the two major approaches of
research. In case of the current study, deductive approach is applied in order to get
appropriate outcomes within limited time period.
Research strategy: There is requirement to select suitable strategies for research
(Seehawer, 2018). In present scenario, survey strategy is used which will help in collecting
wide range of information within limited period of time and efforts.
Ethical consideration: In context of the present research, investigator will consider
the ethical principles such as confidentiality while collecting and using the information of
respondents.
Time Horizon: This elements of research methodology is related to prepare schedule
so that the entire project can be completed in timely manner (Viehof and Winner, 2018). In
case of the present study cross-sectional approach will be consider to conduct the research
appropriately.
Data collection and analysis: There are two major methods are used for the purpose
of data analysis and interpretation which are quantitative and qualitative methods
(VanKooten, 2019). In case of the present study, quantitative method is used which will help
in evaluating the data using numerical and statistical techniques.

Data collection: For collecting data, two types of sources are used which are primary
& secondary (Clark and et. al., 2017). For the present study, primary data will be collected
through questionnaire. Also, secondary information will be collected via websites, journals,
articles and more.
Sampling: It is about including some specific units in the research population
(Robles, 2018). Here , probability sampling is applied to collect the units which are true
representative of the entire research population. This approach will help in getting
meaningful conclusion out of research that will guide the researcher for future research
work.

there is discussion regarding the research methodology that is used to collect adequate
amount of information for the purpose of carrying out the research project.
