1.1 Person-centred approaches
In order to promote and empower the individuality, an adult social care organization
often focuses on using person-centred approaches that further support the service provider in
maintaining respect, dignity as well as privacy of the residents. Furthermore, person-centred
approach also assists the individuals to understand about them and determine their own identity
consciously and service provider also utilizes these approaches to support the disabled and
mental people to recover at a faster rate. Thus, it also predicts and encourages the positive side of
individual life and creates anticipation among the individuals for their welfare.
For the person-centred approaches, there are three core conditions that are significant
including congruence, empathy and unconditional positive regards. Hence, it is also considered
as non-directive approach that benefits individuals in realizing and knowing their feeling and
self-identity.
1.2 Why the values of person-centred approach must influences the aspects of HSC work
An individual that focuses on person-centred approach must possess different values such
as respect as well as uniqueness. Need of patients differs from person to person. However,
working of HSC organization must be based on individualism that supports patients to become
empower and enjoy their own identity. As per the legislation that is Health and social care act
2012 as well as codes of practice for the social care, it is mandatory to follow individualism
approach within the care setting. In the HSC organization, there are different patients with
different beliefs, perception, values and choices. Therefore, it is essential to implement person-
centred approach within the setting so that requirement of service users can be met. There are
different points that need to be focused when implementing person-centred values in the HSC
setting. Classification of key aspects can be like reviewing patient as an individual, assisting
individuals in taking their own choices, providing privacy to patients as well as practitioners in
the setting. Furthermore, focusing on the dignity and esteem of individuals in the setting is also
significant. Empowering individuals is also beneficial for sustainable development of HSC.
1.3 Why person-centred values should influence all the aspects of social care work
Under the person-centred values, the key focus is on individual that assists them to
empower and control their services. It would directly impact the activities and services of both

the social care workers and patients. It also assists in providing physical, mental, emotional and
social support to the individuals. However, person-centred approach is not merely about
providing effectual and quality treatment to the patients but it also enables individuals to live and
perform the activities in their own way. Moreover, care workers also concentrate on the
requirement and expectations of adult service users that further supports in faster recovery from
the illness. As per the future requirement of the individuals, it also helps in rendering quality
services.
2.1 How history, preferences and needs of an individual contributes to his or her care plan
Care worker must contribute in developing the care plan with the help of assessing the
history, preferences and requirement of the individual. Gained information further assists the
worker in determining about the adult need as well as emotional, physical and social
requirement. In addition to this, through finding out history of the individual as well as their
preferences and medical information, they can understand the individual behaviour as well as
nature. Therefore, all the accumulated information support the care provider in enabling and
developing an effective care plan that reflects the actual and accurate preferences and needs of
different patients.
2.2 Ways to put person-centred values in practice
Within health care organization, there are different and complex situations that often arise
such as traumatic situation, threatening activities within the care home, serious implications as
well as improper communication systems etc. Furthermore, in the situation that is death of family
member or high force from the family, it is required by the care worker to handle individual in a
proper manner so that they can distract the mind-set of individual from that situation to another.
To overcome the stressful situation, it is significant for the care provider to divert and monitor
the actions of service users as well as make some alternation in their activities so that they can
feel some freshness.
2.3 The use of care plans in applying person centred values
In order to provide the required information regarding requirement and needs of the
service users, it is essential to formulate a care plan. It is considered as an effective strategy that
