INTRODUCTION
Person centred care refers to the manner of thinking and doing things which sees the
people utilizing health and social care services as equivalent partners in designing, developing
and monitoring care to ensure that it meets their needs. It is about treating an individual receiving
care in a manner they want to be treated (American Geriatrics Society Expert Panel on Person‐
Centered Care and et.al., 2016). The chosen organisation for this report is NHS (National Health
Service) which is a publicly funded healthcare organisation of United Kingdom. It was
established in a year 1948 and is one of the largest firm that offers free health-care services to
everyone including visitors. This report includes professional attributes and values of health and
social care worker. It also involves ethical issues pertain while meeting care needs and
legislation and policies that govern care practices. At last, a health promotion campaign will
develop and its effectiveness will be analyse in this report.
TASK 1
1.1. Compare and contrast person centred care with one other model of care delivery.
In deliver care there are majorly two models used that are as follows:

1.2. Discuss how to promote equality and diversity when working with service users.
There are various ways to promote equality and diversity while working with service
users that are as follows:
To implement equality and diversity in an organisation various policies should be framed and
ensure that whole organisation can be properly understood it. Give the opportunity to all people
to complete their training session regarding diversity at time of their induction. Provide training
program as per the changes occurs in legislation so that better results should be occurred. In
context of NHS they plan each and every attribute in proper way to get right kind of output in an
organisation (Califf and et. al. , 2016.). They by promoting individual requirements by
developing tailored care plans and policies in better way.
1.3. Define the personal attributes required in Health and Social Care and how they inform
practice.
In health and social care some personal attributes require that are are as follows:
Empathy:
In a health and social care field an individual can be able to empathize or sympathize in
various kinds of difficult situation so that they can treat with other in better way.
Flexibility:
In health and social care an individual have to be flexible enough to come at any time as
cover extra shift, stay at long time because that field demand it.
All are the major attributes that require in health and social care and these practices help to
inform by using these attributes in better way and by understanding their important in life of an
individual to get better results.
1.4. Explain the concept of empathy with links to current theories.
Theory of mind concerned with ability of an individual to understand other people and
their belief that are vary from person to person that is cognitive part of empathy (Burch, Gray
and Sharp, 2017). To understand it in well manner organisation have to link it with other major
theories of empathy that are simulation theory of empathy that captures or holds humans
anticipation and helps to make sense regarding behaviour by evaluating mental processes to get
right kind of output. It is not primarily a theory of empathy but denotes understanding of people
to get results in better way. Empathy relates with what others think or feel which is regarded as
special phenomenon that separate it from the other emotional experiences. The emotional

experience denotes about feelings and thoughts for others on other hand empathy theory describe
little about feelings emotions for others to normal first hand emotional experience.
So it is very much essential to understand the emotions of others after that a health and social
care specialist can be able to take important decisions.

2.1. Define ethics with particular reference to medical ethical principles
Ethics refers to the moral principles that governs an individual's behaviour. It is the
system of moral principles that defines what is good for society and people. In reference to
medical, ethics refers to the system of moral principles which employ values to clinical medicine
practice and in scientific research. These are the set of values that includes respect for non-
maleficence, beneficence, autonomy and justice. Medical ethics are based on values which
healthcare professionals can refer to in case of conflict or confusion. There are four basic
principles of medical ethics that addresses a value which arises in interaction among patients and
service providers (Kogan, Wilber and Mosqueda, 2016). Each principle address the problem of
respect, fairness and honesty for fellow human beings. The basic principles of medical ethics are
mentioned below:
Principle of respect for autonomy: As per this principle, the patients have right to
control anything that happens to their bodies. They have the autonomy of intention, thought and
action while making decisions related to healthcare procedures. For making fully informed
decision, a patient should have knowledge and understanding regarding all the benefits and risks
of procedures. The patient have right to accept or refuse drugs, treatments and surgeries as per
their wishes and their decisions should be respected by everyone. It is also necessary for health
care professionals of NHS to respect decisions of patients.
Principle of beneficence: According to this ethical principle, all healthcare professionals
should strive to improve the health of patient, to do the best for patient in every circumstance.
This principle demands that healthcare professionals of NHS develop and maintain knowledge
and skills, consider individual situation of patients, continually update training and strive for
patient's net benefit (Nash and Foidel, 2019).
Principle of non-maleficence: This principle is based on the bedrock of health care
ethics “First, do no harm”. As per the non-maleficence principle, it is required by professionals

of NHS to avoid causing harm to patients and others. It is not easy for doctors to successfully
apply this principle, so it is necessary for them to be aware of doctrine of double effect which
helps in making difficult decisions regarding whether double effects actions can be undertaken.
Principle of Justice: This principle requires the procedures that uphold spirit of existing
legislations and are fair to all the involved players. It is necessary for care providers to try to be
fair while offering treatment to patients. The healthcare professionals of NHS should consider
four areas when evaluating justice, i.e., competing needs, fair distribution of scarce resources,
expected conflicts with established legislation and rights and obligations.
2.2. Identify the ethical issues from the case study and discuss how these could be resolved
In health and social care, various ethical issues are faced by healthcare professionals in
meeting care needs of patients. These issues are concerned with medical practices, treatments,
hospital management as well as other matters. Medical ethical issues can need an immediate
response, like taking decisions for patients when they are unable to do so (Santoni and et.al.,
2017). There are various ethical challenges that are face by health practitioners, clinical leaders
and patients in NHS. Some of the issues are mentioned below:
End-of-life issues: Patients who are terminally ill may have particular wishes regarding
the way they desire their lives to end. It is the challenge for healthcare professionals to handle
end-of-life problem and the issues encountered in treating elderly patients who may be unable to
make logical decisions on their own. In order to resolve this issue, it is necessary for care
professional of NHS to provide the right advice to patient's family about the condition of patient
and help them in taking right decision.
Patient privacy and confidentiality: In healthcare, one of the crucial ethical issue is to
protect the private information of patient. Conversations between a patient and a doctor are
strictly confidential as this information is about medical condition of individual. For resolving
the issue of privacy and confidentiality, it is required by healthcare professionals of NHS to
implement legislations like data protection act to ensure that all the informations related to
patient, their health conditions etc. are kept confidential. Care professionals must ensure that
information will share only with those individuals who are close to patient and who have all the
knowledge regarding their health condition (Fazio and et.al., 2018).

3.1 Discussing two pieces of legislation in relation to health and social care and their influence
on delivery care.
Legislation is referred to set of laws which has been formulated by the government to
assure safety and security of people in health and social care. The legislation which has been
formed by the government of United Kingdom focuses on governing roles and responsibility
which are to be fulfilled by the workers, practitioners and other stakeholders (Gibson and et. al.,
2015) . Below is the discussion on two legislation which influence health and social care.
The Care Act 2014: This act has been considered as one of the paramount legislation
which has been revised in context of health and social care. This act has been reformed solely for
the purpose of modifying and improving the care and support for adults offered in the public
health care institutions. There were several provision formed relating to safeguarding interest of
adults along with integration of care and support with health services (Burch, Gray and Sharp,
2017). The quality of standards were redefined along with assuring their proper implementation.
If the commission believes that quality offered by an institutions is not up to the mark than they
will be provided with a warning notice. If suggested changes have not been carried out then it
may results in cancellation of notice.
There is no denying the fact that this legislation have influenced the services provided by
the carers to children and adult in health and social care setting. The primary focus of this
legislation is to promote individual well being of patients. Personal dignity of a person is
maintained as it involves dealing with him/her in a respectful manner. The carers are responsible
to offer protection to people against abuse and neglect which was faced by them earlier. There is
a focus on mental and emotional well-being of patient along with physical recovery. The various
ways through which needs of people are met are through accommodation, care & support,
counselling and advocacy.
Equality Act 2010: This legislation has been formed to assure that people in health and
social care institutions are protected from discrimination within the setting. This legislation has
been reformed so that it is easier to understand and can improve the quality of protection which
is being offered to people (Mainz, Kristensen and Bartels, 2015). This law defines different ways
through which a treatment can be termed as discriminative or unfair. Some of the ways are

through direct discrimination (treating less favourably), indirect discrimination (Unfair
treatment), victimisation and harassment.
This legislation have been influential in context of health and social care setting as there
is significant decline in the level of socio-economic inequalities. The people in healthcare are
treated as equitable irrespective of their personal characteristics . It does not relate to residents in
healthcare as carers are also provided with a fair opportunity to work and earn as per their skills.
It is the duty of an institutions to make adjustments as per the needs and requirement of the
people. Failure to comply with such legislation will result in an offense and suitable actions will
be taken by the commission. Institutions have been supervised regularly which results in offering
free and fair treatment to people.
3.2 Analysing role of 2 agencies who provide guidance for safe and effective care in health and
social care
The department of health and social, UK works with 28 agencies and public bodies to
assure that appropriate services are delivered to people. Below is a description of role of two
agencies who work in health and social care sector:
Care quality commission: This is one of supreme executive non-departmental body
working with health and social care. The major role which has been fulfilled by this agency is to
regulate health and social care services in England and assure that defined standards are
followed. The task of regulation by this commission is fulfilled through registering the people
who come to avail services relating to health and social care (Silver and D&J Healthcare
Holdings, 2018). The feedback provided by different clients is considered and accordingly
inspections are conducted. The feedbacks availed are one of the crucial source of information as
it is offered by people who have availed the services provided by the institutions. The inspections
conducted by CQC are rated and published on their website so that people will be able to value
services against the prices paid. This agency is known to work with other organisation in health
and social care to make sure that people are not cheated and provide with best services. The
standards which has been given by CQC involves provision of person centred care, treating
clients with dignity and respect, asking for client's consent and most importantly safeguarding
from the abuse and discrimination faced by the person.
National Institute for health and care excellence: This is the agency which is known to
provide guidance and advices to organisation operating in health and social care segment.

National Institute for Health and care excellence (Abbreviated as NICE) is responsible tow work
with local and national organisations to enhance quality and safety with which services are
offered to clients. This agency have been known to conduct researches with an intention to
improve health and medicines (Califf and et. al., 2016). The quality standards underpinned by
NICE have proven to be beneficial for organisations such as NHS because outcomes based
approach assists in improving the quality of services. This agency have been successful in
identifying the areas which needs improvement and delivering the same with set standards. The
responsibility of NICE assures that products and services offered are independent and sustainable
in context of health and social care system.
TASK 4
4.1. Produce health promotion material for a target audience.
In health promotion material for target audience who are suffering problem of over fat or
obese that are major problem in today' world. For that campaign the major audience are people
who are very fat. To reach at large no. of people who suffer from these kinds of problems are
social media, advertising, posters, stickers, videos, buttons and many more to enlarge business
opportunities. They are all one of most relevant and fruitful source to reach at large no. of
consumer base by using them simultaneously.
4.2. Deliver a small health promotion campaign.
To deliver right kind of message to the target audience organisation uses both online and
offline source of media to enlarge business opportunities. In offline source of promotion
campaign they start their various kinds of camps in which they provide guidance and medicines
to loose weight (Kogan, Wilber and Mosqueda, 2016.). In online source of health promotion
they use social media in which by using pop ups advertising they draw attention of their
consumer base and by giving sales promotions organisation can be able to reach at their target
audience. In order to all online and offline source of promotion campaign proved beneficial for
organisation to lead in market. To accomplish target that to give best treatment organisation in
their campaign give audience the videos and other material that proved beneficial to them to get
remedy by putting right efforts in right manner.

4.3. Analyse any effects of the campaign.
After launching the marketing campaign organisation can be able to reach at large no. of
target audience that suffer from the problem of overweight. By conducting campaigns
organisation can be able to deliver right kind of message to get rid from the problem in suitable
manner. In order to by online source of promotion campaign they get feedbacks from their
consumers so that they can amend in their present works and procedures to build some necessary
changes in their work and procedures to get right kind of outputs at right time (Silver, D&J
Healthcare Holdings, 2018.). With help of these efforts organisation can be able to enlarge large
market share and builds campaign as per the need of market.
CONCLUSION
As per the above mentioned report, it has been concluded that person centred care in
health care organisation allows patients to actively take part in their own treatment in close co-
operation with health professionals. In care organisations, promoting equality and diversity is
highly important as it helps in preventing discriminations based on cultural differences,
preferences, values etc. Medical ethics are the moral principles that must be respected and valued
by healthcare professionals while deliver care to patients. There are various ethical issues that
takes place while meeting care needs of individuals such as, patient privacy and confidentiality,
end-of-life issues, transmission of diseases etc. that needs to be resolved by professionals. Health
and social care agencies plays crucial role in ensuring delivery of safe and effective care to
patients.
