INTRODUCTION
With study of personal and professional development plan an individual is able to
manage all learning factors which increase the growth of a person throughout the career. This is
important for an individual to enhance skill and knowledge up to date as it ensure a person for
complete of all work with legal, safe and effective manner. Personal and professional develop
plan also known as continuous professional development that helps to improve the process
related with learning. Moreover, with formulate of an appropriate plan a person is dedicated
towards accomplish of their goals in an organised manner. This report highlights on duties and
responsibilities of work role related with health and social care worker and also on relevant
standards that promote best practices in health care sector. In the last, importance of reflective of
practice to improve quality of services and also reflective practices which improve ways of
working will also included in the report.
TASK 1
Duties and Responsibilities of Health and Social care workers
Duties in the field of Health and Social care are those which are related to provide Non-
clinical needs to the people. Clinical needs are something which can be done and imparted to the
people through set standards and science of Medications, but under the Non-clinical needs of
patients, a different level of psychology is needed by Me. Hence, this nature of Philanthropy that
is embedded in this service attracts me the most. There are various roles and responsibilities that
I would be requiring to efficiently carry out my service. Few important of them are listed as
follows:
 A Health and Social care worker undertakes to manage, and help people in dealing with
various conflicts they are facing in their personal life as well.
 The another important role is to provide essential caring and pampering to old age
people. Old age people are one of the most vulnerable population in respect of mental and
health disorders thus their caring is most important.
 Caring to other vulnerable sections such as Disabled people is also important as they lack
support of people in real life.

 Those people, who are drugs addicts requires a special combination of psychological and
medical treatment. They are most fragile victims but uplifting them is as crucial as any
other responsibility.
Promoting Best Health and Social care practices
Standards in Health and Social care are nothing but basic guidance to workers already in
the sector and for aspirants like Me, who are looking forward to professionalise themselves in the
sector. These standards are important to manage behaviour of people and bring a road to them.
However, the current standards of this sector are under some lacunas and they require further
ameliorations.
 Practices of treating patients with Dignity and respects requires to be imparted in workers
in a manner that they inculcate these practices in their basic nature. There are many
instances seen where workers are getting impatient and forget that they are handing
mentally fragile people.
 Workers in the sector has to be made inclusive in nature, there is a need for the workers
to learn saying “yes” to every individual that come in line for seeking help from them.
Denying anyone from care that individual deserves is gross injustice.
 Responsibility is another critical traits to be promoted in workers in this sector. Workers
in Health and Social care sector are very few times seen taking responsibility for their
misdeeds and negligence. This mainly because of insufficient legal enforcement and
pressure. There are psychological duties in this sector which makes accountability
volatile, as every worker have its own way in dealing with patients.
Influences of Health and Social care practices
There are many determinants in the Health and Social care sector which affects the
practices of workers around. Some of them are discussed in the report.
Values- Values are the qualities of an individual worker which are embedded in one's behaviour
from starting itself. An individual acquire these traits mainly in the early age of life, which are
most important in shaping values in a person. However, traits acquired in the adult age through
social and educational experiences are also supportive in shaping values, but as the
understanding in the early is weaker most, therefore what is learnt at this age last forever. It is
important in Workers to possess good values, as these values defines their mindset and
positioning.

Belief system- Beliefs shapes the ideology of a people. Beliefs of a person is entirely
psychological phenomenon and they are gained by workers through social observations and
background to which one belongs. However, sometimes an incident of critical nature also
implies a long term effect on people. Any negative belief in workers will directly affect their
work ethics. For example, there are chances that a worker may have discriminatory and
stereotypical belief system.
Experiences- Experiences are direct in shaping attitude. They can be shaped by incidents in
earlier life and even at the professional life as Health and Social care worker. For example, if any
worker faces assault by a drug addict while treating that patient. There are chances of that worker
getting apprehensive in dealing with drug addicts from next time. Similarly, there are chances of
one cultivating biases and prejudices from experiences.
TASK 2
Importance of Reflective practice in improving quality of services
Under the reflective a student like Me and practitioner is seen mentioning an account of a
case or an incident that one have encountered in the stage of learning and practising as a
professional as well. There lies various possibilities when someone goes on undertaking range of
activities in the learning stages of life. The possibilities of challenges and feeling nervous or
drizzled. Whereas, there are also chances of one acquiring a range of learning fro these
experiences, some are seen becoming lifetime memories. There are range of significances of
offering account of these incidents, in the context of oneself and for the readers as well.
Professional growth- An account of incidents let a person to mentions such incident that enables
learning for rest of his career and enhance it. And individual can recall these useful incidents.
Also, such incidents are helpful in inspiring others.
Boost Teacher-Student relationship- In academics, while availing education in the field of Health
and Social care, an individual openly talks about the personal challenges, which are hurdling its
academic growth, are helpful in building teacher and students relationship. It grows a personal
connection between these two.
Enhance problem solving- Any similar problem that relates with a particular incident is helpful
in guiding individual for future as well. Providing account of that problem also build solution in
deep minds of individual.

Demonstrating a Reflection
In this section I have tried in providing account of a situation which I faced during the
time of internship. Although the incident took place at the time of gaining education but in the
internship there are practical experiences involved which leave a deep impression while
encountering problems in real life.
The incident took place last year. I was pursuing my internship in a very reputed Non-
Governmental organisation of the city. The NGO was engaged in rehabilitation of such people
who once had been Criminals, spending their legal conviction terms. The organisation used to
take personal interaction with these people and helped them letting know what they can do now
to improve their future. The task of making such harsh mentality people realise the actual
importance of good works is a very complicated task and involves depth of psychological
understanding and human behaviour. When I was interning their, I also got a chance to learn
about stances of these people and what actually motivated them to commit a crime, of a grave
nature. Here I noticed that mostly of these people were hard-liners. They were the one, whose
expectations about life had changed and they have developed serious negativity for society and
people. It is clear that these people too have a psychological understanding, although negative
but it is the one, and through support of this they had counter explanation for every justification
which was provided to them by Social workers of NGO. Hence, two psychologies were seen
striking.
As a learner of Health and Social working, I understood that it is not easy to change
mentality of a person. To convince people with different mindset, there are required
motivational, communication and leadership skills altogether in a particular communication.
Therefore, knowledge must align with the talent.
Effect of reflection over ways of working
Reflection is very critical for students. Reflecting one's own performance allows a student
to explain and understand a particular incident in own terms. It build a long term relationship
with that incident and mistakes committed then are hardly seen repeated in future. Also, there are
very benefits of easy identification of mistakes. A student can easily identify mistakes committed
by him, what should be improved and in what manner it has to be improved. Weaknesses comes
also get noticed by a student and overcoming them is helpful in securing good performances in
longer run.

Role of feedback to evaluate own-performance and inform development
Receiving feedback is one of the great method or way for evaluation of own performance
and it is helps me to improve my performance. Positive and negative are two ways that
demonstrate importance of feedback in an individual life. Positive feedback let me know that I
am performing my task in an appropriate well-manner. On the other side, negative feedback is
used to identify and acknowledge those areas where an individual is focused to improve. But the
major challenges that create issue for me is that sometimes specifically in health sector. An
individual attack on other person within a way of constructive criticism. So to overcome from
this I take it as a chin which is used to improve learning opportunities. Along with this co-worker
also helps me to listen and perform all task that in an organised manner because they are first
person who observe my performance on regular basis.
Identify of all sources who support for planning and review on own development
The parts of personal and professional development allow an individual to get guidance
and helps from different sources. Some of the major sources that helps me to improve my career
in health sector are mention as follow:
 Formal training- An individual provide training and it helps me to perform my work in
an organised, accurate and systematic manner. The main reason to conduct and
understand all formal training related aspects is to gain clear understanding about the
basic roles related with health sector. It also include about all those standards that
increase specialised or professional approach in my work. So training is the best source
which helps me plan and review about my own development factors.
 Team meeting & Co-workers- Team meeting provide an opportunity to me for learn
about new or updated methods that is adopted by health sector and also to discuss about
them. Moreover, meeting is also recognise as an important source because it helps me to
share about my ideas and my team-mates demonstrate their view that helps to enhance
my idea because other professional also share their experience related with my working
practices.

TASK 3
Importance of Performance Evaluation
Performance evaluation is the task of reviewing and observing one's own performance,
how an individual actually performing. Here an individual have an objective of identifying
deficiencies that lies in performance and thus can plan effect ways of overcoming these
deficiencies. Some of the importances of performance evaluation are mentioned as follows:
Developing performance- This is the most obvious outcome of Evaluation of performance. After
evaluation when one identifies sets of weaknesses that are obstacle in development of an
individual as a whole. Then, one will be motivated to overcome them with clarity. Seldom any
doubts are left for improvements.
Disciplinary Actions- There comes clarity for developing qualities. When one will be fully aware
of the requirements of standards as an Health and Social Worker, and there is clarity of what has
to be improved for availing these qualities. An individual can take improvements under a
planned and disciplined manner.
Career Goals- Performance evaluation are critical in fulfilling career goals. Regarding any career
opportunity, a person have a vision, as what he is trying becoming in future as an efficient Social
Worker. Besides, social work is a service which possess high noble cause, and therefore a
distinct vision is required for availing satisfaction here. This is possible when every activity as a
worker is carried out with utmost efficiency, offering satisfaction to worker and bringing
happiness on people's faces as well.
Performance Evaluation
Under this section of Report I have attempted to analyse my current position, skills and
level of competence with respect to different standards required by an effluent Health and Social
worker.
Service- An individual, who aspires to work for people must have a dedication and commitment.
This quality in me is embedded with core. I am confident about my commitment to this service
for two reasons especially, one because I decided this career after a thorough analysis of various
career opportunities available to me. Secondly, I have noticed at various instances that seeing
happiness in people's eye gives me a different boom. And hence, my commitment to the service
are undoubted.

Dignity and Worth of a person- Realising dignity and value of other people's perception and
understanding is most important in this service. Here, range of people are required to be dealt,
having their on psychological orders. This is a value which is always lesser in social works, no
mater how much one could cultivate it in its attitude. A deep polite gesture is always appreciated
in this sector. However, currently I lack a little bit in this value, as I have seen myself getting
irritated with field jobs, getting impatient while convincing people. There is need to work on
these values strongly.
Competence- Competence in this context relate with acquired knowledge by a worker of the
practices and ethics in this profession. Knowledge for this profession also means high
information level as well. Information about daily routine Social, Political and Economical
development, which are directly influential over people's life. This quality in me is developed
from very starting.
CONCLUSION
With understand of above report it is summarised that job role in health and social care
sector is one of the crucial career oriented task. Therefore, personal and professional
development plan plays an essential role to improve career by focusing on all those factors that
are needed to improve. By analyse of various job standards it is easy to promote health and social
care sector. Moreover, with analysing importance of reflective practices an individual improve
the quality of services that is provided by use of sources that improve plan and review it on own-
performance of a person.
