INTRODUCTION
Personal development can be defined as the process of those activities which enhances
the productivity of an individual. It undertakes several elements such as employment skill,
increasing consciousness, building wealth etc. It is essential for individuals to develop personal
attributes for helping them to achieve success of successful career development. The motive of
the present assignment is to understand the essential requirement of personal development of in
context of leadership and strategic management. For this assignment Harris Hall is the given
organization (Patel, Pettitt and Wilson, 2012). It works as a recruitment agency in which a senior
manager is hired to make effective strategic for the organization which is useful for leadership as
well as as personal development. In this task various types of topics are covered which includes
the knowledge skills, personal skills, objective for personal development need and plan.
Moreover factors impact on organizational vision, various benefits to tool that help to attain
organizational goal are discuss in this report.
TASK 1
Analysis of various skills and knowledge for leadership and management
In this task some guidelines are given by Harris Hall to new senior manager includes
some task which are mandatory to include. So skills and knowledge for this is mention below:
Delegation: It is an essential skill for every manager to delegate their work with a
effective approach such as to divide the task according to the skills and capabilities of the
employee's. It helps them to formulated effective strategies as they are beneficial to gain long
term goals and objectives of the organization.
Knowledge about market environment: This is one of the most crucial knowledge for
using to formulate appropriate strategies and vision for organization because strategies that are
managed by manager impacts on vision and functions of the organization(Noe and et. al., 2014).
Moreover it help them to evaluate the situations that impacts on business operations and profits.
Accountability: Accountable skill is required to analyses the organizational action that
are taken by them to achieve their goal. So it is easy for them to find out that it is successful in
future or not. Moreover it helps them to identify those report and measure all the activities that is
performed by organization to achieve their vision and strategies.

Engagement- Strategic planning work as a whole process not just a simple event. This
aspect states that engagement of all levels and departments in an organization plays a vital role
that assist them to complete their goals. Example- To achieve a vision finance department make
budget, marketing department promote products and services etc. So staff or employee's provide
their inputs which helps to complete their activities within specified period.
Critical thinking- In order to complete their activities it is important for manager to
complete their goals with implement of creative techniques. Therefore it is important for them to
think critically about the functions that are performed by organization (Nilsson and Ellström,
2012). For achieving organization vision and strategy an leader develops pathways such as
training and development, organization skills etc. that impacts on employee's performance. So
critical thinking helps them to overcome different issue that reduces organization productivity.

In this task various theories of leadership and management is discussed that need to be
focus by individuals for reaching their goals.
Contingency leadership theory: Contingency theory states that there is essential for
management to develop an exit plan or way from the complex situation which is faced by the
organization. Whenever company faces an challenging situation creates barrier in organization
then it is important for them to change the way that impacts on their performance. Moreover it is
important for them to make effective solution that enhances organization performance. It helps
them to analyse all top executive that creates decision for organisation. For strategic manner all
business entities that deal with contingencies in an appropriate manner that engages their
responsibilities and role which are mandatory to fulfil for organisational vision and strategy.
Behavioural theory of leadership- This theory is based on the belief that an individuals
are made through learning of different skills and gaining experience by performing different
culture. Behavioural theory undertakes those factor which show the intellectual qualities of the
organisation (Hoch and Dulebohn, 2013). Moreover manager learns that how they become
effective leaders by observing different activities and decisions that are taken by manager to
improve their performance. In context of personal development plan this skills are enlightened
by individual by learning into systematic and sequential manner.
