1.Introduction A personal and professional development plan is that plan which aids an individual to make plans about what is needed for achieving predetermined goals and objectives. A development plan helps in the improvement of individual in relation to education, career,skillsandknowledge(AndertonandMarriott,2020).Variousskillsare developed for increasing level of confidence of person that aid in enhancing and increasing the performance for achieving predetermined targets that are going to be achieved in an effective way. Personal development plan improves ability of person in performing of assigned tasks with development of skills and knowledge. If that personwillpossesscorrectknowledgeandskillsthatwillleadtoincreasein individual’s career development. The aim of this report is to describe short, medium aswellaslong-termgoalswithstrategiesthatareusedbyanindividualfor professional and personal growth for growing that are increased in market. My professional objective is to be marketing manager. 2.Definition of the concept of personal and professional development Personalandprofessionaldevelopment plansarethose plans and strategies that improveknowledge and core competencies of a person.Thedevelopment strategies helping in performing definite roles andresponsibilities,that lead incareer growth andopportunities of an individual. Personal development aids in improvement of individual’s personal skills for improving performance and growth chances that can be increased. It helps in increasing and making better the individual’s weak points for achievement of goals effectively and efficiently. Professional development is useful in preparation of individual towards career(Diffley, D.M. and Duddle, 2022). It also aids in the development of organisational skills for the overall development of an individual. Individual should plan various strategies that are related to development according to consider both personal as well as professional development that leads to unique image of individual that can be developed. Before arriving in any field, it is important for an individual’s correct development that there is no hesitation while communicating with others. 2
3.Description and discussion of the value of short term goals identifying at least 3 personal examples Short term goals are those targets that an individual want to attain goals and objectives in the near future. Short goals and targets aid the improvement of the livingstandardandlifestyleofindividual.Thethreeshorttermgoalsthatare personal are discussed and are given below: Time management: These skills are important for attaining and achieving the success in future. As if individual is being unable to manage time for achieving goals, then there will be no operating of their duties in a proper way because ofwhichtheworkloadandstresswillbeincreased.Ifthereistime management for each and every activity, it will result in better performance of duties by an individual effectively. It also aids in individual’s professional development(Everley and Flemons, 2020). In every organisation, there is importance of time management as there is completion of given task on predetermined time. Stressmanagement:Managementofstressisnecessarytoperformin effective and efficient in organisation. If a person is not able to manage stress and tension, then it has adverse effect on their health. Various strategies will be developed by me to manage stress for not hindering my performance. Stress can result in various negative thoughts in individual’s mind then it can even lead to inefficiency in the performance of an individual. Presentation skills: For developing professionalism, this skill has its own vital role to play in an individual. If there is lack of presentation skills, a person is not able to present thoughts and views in a proper way in front of people, therebycreatingnegativeimageinaudience’smind.Ifthereisperfect presentation of me in front of others with skills and knowledge, then it will result in development of my good image and increased value in front of others (Elsden, 2022). 4.Description and discussion of the value of medium term goals identifying at least 3 personal examples Medium term goals are those that take some time to achieve such as 6 months or above and they depend on individual’s capacity. I won’t be able to attain goals in short time period because of lack of proper knowledge and skills. So there is need for developing myself by enhancing and increasing the knowledge with aim to accomplish my targets. Decision making skills: Success is achieved by taking right decisions in life. Individual should possess skills for deciding wrong and right so that there is no easy influencing on one by the other person because if decisions are not taken by an individual in life then there is no accomplishment of goals in future. Along with the people can easily take advantage that can result in individual’s failure. Decisionmakingisability to choosebetweenoptions. Dependingonspecificcircumstance,weconnectwithbestsuitedor appropriatepersonto practiceall the existing information along with making of decisions. Itremovesconflicts in entity and helps in functioning well of an individual(Islam, 2020).Decision making is important and possession of critical thinking skillshelps inidentifying problems along with its solutions. Decision making isbasicthat is required in the workplace. Itisimportantin personal life also. Some people lackdecision-makingskillsand areunsuitable for leadership roles. Communication skills: Communicating in an effective way islife'simportant skills.Communication skills consists ofdeepening ofunderstanding with help of written (books, magazines), visual (use ofgraphics,tables)or of nonverbal (body language, gestures, etc.).Allof thesecommunication are essential skills for careergrowth.Strong communication skillshelpineveryphase of life.Frompersonaltoprofessionallifeandalsoinbetweeneverything. Excellentcommunication skills help inpresenting views and thoughts in front of others.There are different methods that can result in improvement of my communication skills with the aim to achieving of my goals properly. 4
5.Description and discussion of the value of long term goals identifying at least 3 personal examples Long-termgoalsare those goals that help an individualtoachieve wants of andin future.Thesegoals need great and proper time as well as planning(May, 2019). These goals cannot be achieved in short time period as these are connected to future of an individual. Three personal skills are described as follows: Finding a good job: For finding good job in future, there is a need to develop various skills as well as knowledge in me with the help of various sources with the aim to have a good job. There is a need to concentrate more effectively on my goals that are of short term as well as of medium term for my overall development. If there is no proper knowledge in me related to tasks or the field, in which I need to enter then will be no easy getting of a proper job. To avoid this problem, I need to focus and start working on my weaker areas with the help of planning of various strategies. Starting a business: For starting my own business, there is a need to develop skills in me related to entrepreneurship such as leadership, marketing skills, communicating and decision making and others for guiding my employees in an effective way in business because there will be no attainment of profits because of lack of these above skills which can result in facing losses in future(Knapton and Belgians, 2018).To be a successful entrepreneur, there is need to possess proper professional skills for increasing my company’s profitability ratios. Planning world tour: I need to be financially strong for planning a world tour so that there is arrangement of different events accordingly. There will be no proper career as there will be no proper attaining of goals as these goals need to have a huge investment amount which is not possible with small earnings. For achieving of these goals, I should concentrate on my career for attaining my long term goals properly as well as for enjoyment of my world tour along with family. 6.Description and discussion of the value of a Personal Development Plan 5
Apersonaldevelopmentplan which is also calledPDP that is a document whichsummarizesgoals and objectives, already strengths in an area,points thatare needed tobe changed for attainingpredetermined goals andtechnologies thatare needed tobe improved.PDP is also useful in other aspects and factors of life.PDP also aids in the enhancement of the skills of an individual by improvement of their weak areas by developing strength areas(Lefera and Swart, 2020). It eliminates the hesitation and nervousness of an individual by strengthening various aspects. Personalas well as professional development plans consists of highadded value. Its importance and some benefits that are related to PDP are as follows: Improvement and increase in levelofconfidence for greater and better performance of the assigned tasks in a proper way. Providingandgainingnewopportunitiesrelatedtocareerand professional growth that help in achievement of success in future. Improvement of various results andoutcomesbymakingeffective decisionsso that there is independence by an individual in taking own decision. 7.0 Conclusion It has been analysed as per the above report, that personal and professional developmentplansarethosestrategiesthatimproveskills and knowledge with the help of learning and trainingwhich providegreater employment opportunities along withcareergrowthopportunities.Italsohelpsinidentifyingthestrengthsand weaknessesofindividualand formation of effective strategies whichimproveskills and knowledge for individual’s personal growth. The personal development plan of an individual develops various strategies that help in increase of growing chances of an individual that have been developed in me with my personal development. I have written my skills and goals that have helped in attaining the predetermined goals and objectives on predetermined time period for my overall development.
