1.0 Self-reflection on personal learning and development,
and the transferable skills
1.1 Identification and reflection on my approach to personal
learning and development
Self-reflection- For meeting my planned career and professional objectives
within the course business and management, various skills were learned and
enhanced through which effective outcomes can be accomplished. In order to
accomplish my career goals, I focused on learning through cognitive approach of
learning. Cognitive approach of learning supported me in learning new skills and in
academic development which also enhanced my focus and reduced stress. By
developing focus through cognitive learning, it supported in developing concentration
towards active mind through which more learning can be done and higher number of
opportunities can be attracted (Bates and et.al, 2018). In such condition, I focused
on selecting the best tutor who can support me in all possible manner and
encourage me to develop required learning and academic development skills.
I understood the value of personal learning and development which supported
me in developing skills and making effective use of these skills for my career and
professional development. With the help of cognitive learning theory, it supported me
in developing skills and knowledge as per different circumstances through which I
can react accordingly and meet the desired objective. Throughout the business and
management course, cognitive learning assisted me in working toward professional
advancement and development. I enhanced my learning through books as well and
by participating in e-learning programs through which I was able to develop my skills
and competencies. This also supported me in getting a sense of direction for my
personal and professional growth and development.
Personal and professional development refers to the process of improving
individual's skills, knowledge, abilities and competences. Such personal and
professional development also supported me in improving my performance
standards through which I was able to accomplish my personal and long-term plans
and objectives (Cotronei-Baird, 2020). After completing my graduation from
university, my aim was to get a good job in business and management where I can

asked by other fellow mates in seminars.
Moreover, my technical and presentations skills supported me in
accomplishing end results and meeting objectives. In order to evaluate my
performance, I asked my tutor and colleagues to share their feedbacks through
which I can improve my performance for future. By self-evaluation, I was able to
analyze that my performance was not that much effective and which was due to lack
of confidence, poor communication skills, lack of problem-solving ability and poor
conceptual knowledge and understanding. I will focus on improving my
communication skills, problem solving ability and strengthen my conceptual

transferrable talent that enables me to work well in a group to achieve both personal
and team-based goals. This assists me in achieving my professional goals and as a
result, learning new skills and information while communicating with other members
of my team. Leadership is also a transferrable talent that allows me to demonstrate
effort and leadership skills by supporting and influencing my team's path.
I also improved my verbal and written communication skills, which are both
transferrable skills that assist in the development of communication characteristics
and approaches. Another transferable skill I learned from this programme is research
and analytical skills, which allow me to examine and observe a variety of various
aspects and skills that need to be enhanced in order to stay up with changing market
trends (Lin and Magnuson, 2018). Strong competence is essential for business and
marketing research and development. I am able to strengthen my research and
development abilities as a consequence of this Module, which will help me analyze
external marketing demands. This contributes in the development of my career goals
by assisting me in accomplishing my professional aims in business and
management.
1.3 Skills I would like to develop during my academic studies,
personal life and the workplace
One of the most important abilities I need to develop during my academic
career is the capacity to manage my time. I also lack critical thinking and problem-
solving skills, which stops me from achieving my personal and professional
objectives. Aside from that, budgeting and money management are two skills I need
to master in order to finish my academic studies and improve my personal life so that
I may improve my professional abilities.
The following are some of the skills I'd like to develop in the future:
ď‚· Critical thinking skills- Since HR must generate new ideas, create
decisions, and make critical attempts to reduce the organization's expenses,

ď‚· Critical thinking skills- Since HR must generate new ideas, create

4
critical thinking is required for being an HR professional. I'll need to have this
capability in order to deal with challenges in the future.
ď‚· Communication skills- You must have great reading, writing, listening, and
interpersonal skills to work as an HR specialist in a corporation. Reading
paperwork, case studies, active listening to superior and subordinate
difficulties, composing mails, reports, and documentation, and strong
employee participation are all examples of HR duties and responsibilities
(Milos, 2019). I wish to improve my talents by participating in productive
activities in order to work in a company.
ď‚· Technical skills- Efficiency is required when doing jobs. Knowledge of the
firm's computer systems, IT, and other applications is necessary. According to
my personal evaluation, I have appropriate technical skills, however I would
like to improve my speed in using these technological apps.
ď‚· Budgeting skills- I also need to learn how to compile financial statements,
budgets, and other documents linked to HR audits.
