1.1 Identification and reflection on my approach to personal learning and
Development
Personal learning and development is a lifelong process which involves the
assessment of the current skill level and competencies that individuals possess and
further improvement and assimilation of skills according to needs and weaknesses
identified through the above mentioned assessment. This process is vital for every
person regardless of their upbringing, background, job fields and future aspirations
as proper skill-sets and competencies help ensure success of an individual at every
level in all aspects of life (Sharmahd, Peeters and Bushati, 2018). Personal
development has played a very important role in my personal life as the process has
been responsible for the success I have attained my life till now as I have managed
to not only complete my schooling and college with flying colors but I have also been
successful at developing a quality resume with meaningful skills. Personal
development and learning's have also allowed to undertake key internships at
multiple places which has only increased its importance in my eyes.
Personal development is also very useful as a parameter for setting and
analyzing goals relating to evolution of personal and professional competencies as it
helps monitor and track progress that I make towards objectives that I set for myself.
This is very important since simply thinking about doing something or learning a new
skill is worthless without proper systems of performance measurement in place as
without knowing the current progress of one's learning, we cannot forge our future
path towards success (Schildkamp, Smit and Blossing, 2019). The process of
learning is lifelong and cannot be abandoned at any step of life as even during jobs,
there are many changes and disruptions which have to be adapted towards daily.
1.2 Identification of the transferable skills I have already developed by
attending this module
Transferable skills are used to manage and perform a task in functional
manner in any job or a field. The skills set which encompasses in transferable skills

are analytical, problem solving , reasoning, conceptualizing, flexibility, union,
communication and writing , listening, creativity, detail oriented, relationship building,
technical skills, management. These skills are essential for an individual to meet
their future career goals in a constructive manner. Self-determined learning and
development module has helped me to learn numerous set of skills in order to have
an increment in my future career. The fruitful skills which I have gained from this
module is problem solving skills as it will help me to identify the problems as well it
causes and to find an effective way to implement the solutions. However I have also
learned the critical thinking skills which helps me in making structured and
constructive judgment by evaluating and examining the information. Leadership is
the important skills that I will learn from this module. This will give me the ability to
lead, coordinate and supervise the team. Through this skill I will be able to lead on
the project and make my team to follow and accomplish the shared goal. The other
skill which I have gained is adaptability and teamwork which will give me insight
about how to work in a group and coordinate with them in order to achieve similar
goals (Schildkamp, and et.al., 2020). It will provide me the capabilities to adapt the
changes rapidly which might occur while performing the task. Teamwork and
leadership are interlinked skills, for instance if I managed my team members
effectively similarly I can direct the other team work effectively. All these skills are
extensive skills I can tap on them whenever I need any of these skills. These skills
are equally aligned for my career growth. My ultimate goal for learning these skills is
to operate and direct my future business in structural manner. These skills makes
me strong, focused and widen my horizon in order to manage my business and
different numerous resources available in a quite effective way. These skills learning
are not only beneficial for my future career in fact it will help me in my academics
and personal life too. Transferable skills are indeed important in the process of
learning and development as these skills directly affect my employability and my
capacity to work in an efficient manner (Dirks, 2019). These skills also play an
important role in helping me transition into important fields and events such as
changes in job roles and responsibilities after a promotion or leading teams to
accomplish objectives.

1.3 Skills I would like to develop during my academic studies, personal life and
the workplace
Possessing the necessary skills in any setting is a prerequisite which every
individual must follow as without having specific qualities and competencies, the
chances of selection and standing out while impressing the higher authorities and
other people goes drastically down. I would like to have a detailed portfolio of varied
skills that can be used in a variety of situations and one of the major areas where I
would like to focus on involves my academic studies as my career depends on it.
The skills which I would like to focus on academically involves time management and
research skills. Time management is a very important skill to have especially for
students as it is incorporated universally in every task and activity that students can
undertake as a part of their study curriculum and syllabus and without knowing how
to properly manage and allocate the limited amount of time to the most important
subjects and work can halt my academic progress (Lee and Ahn, 2020). Research
skills are also an important part of my learning years as they are very crucial in the
current business landscape as many companies value employees who can conduct
complex research oriented work such as market and customer analysis. These skills
also help add academic weightage and value to the resume if conducted by me.
When it comes to my personal life, I would like to learn stress management as
during my schooling years and now that I am doing internships while studying and
also looking for active jobs, life has been quite hectic (Aliu and Aigbavboa, 2021). I
have buckled under pressure multiple times and I let my stress get the best of me in
many moments resulting in fights and arguments with people I hold myself close to.
For the focus on my workplace skills which directly affect my working
efficiency and employability, I would like to inculcate computer skills as they are in
heavy demand and use in current working environments of both government and
private sector companies and knowledge of computerized operations helps receive
better promotional prospects and a heavier pay at the end of the month which
interests me greatly.
