Introduction In the other words, the personal development plan is also called as PDP which is the tool helping the students and children in the development of their personal and professional skills in the most efficient manner. For the individual it is a continuous process which helps in assessing the skills and abilities for realizing the potential for achieving goals. It is a process of learning where the development of skills in the individual is essential and important as skills can be applied in every field. The development helps in improving the individual efficiency and accuracy in regards to the skills and knowledge which leads to develop within the professional world (Brigandi and et, al., 2019). The person learns new skills and gain knowledge which leads to success and improves the mental along with social skills. In the report the topics are covered regarding to the conception of personal and professional development. Moreover, the value of short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals are identified with examples. Further, the personal development plan is explained in the report. Defining concept of personal and professional development The working of both the term is together which leads to growth of the individual in the required field. The personal growth and development are the transformation process which improves the financial, mental emotional and social state. The personal development plan defines procedure of improvement in learning skills and acquiring required knowledge (Scott and et, al., 2017). It is a part of human growth which allows people in setting the goals, development of qualities and learning of new skills. It is a field of knowledge and skills which involves communication skills, body language, and confidence. The professional development is the procedure where the capabilities of the individual is improved and increases by offering the opportunity of education and training within and outside the organization to facilitate the better performance (Costley and et, al., 2020). The individual morale is boosted leading t6o high quality work. In the professionalism the numerous tasks and organizational skills are improved in the best manner have the efficiency. The learning helps in achieving the desired goals and meeting challenges in the effective way which leads in shaping the career and develop skill of person. In the professional development the necessary skills are enhanced to carry out the individual role in the effective way. The effectivepersonalandprofessionaldevelopmentensurestheknowledgeofpersonby involving both hard and soft skills. The PDP can be taken in several ways such as Coaching, 3
education, training etc. The PDP provides several benefits to the individual but also an time- consuming process. The concept of personal and professional development is important which helps in ensuring capabilities by abiding current standards, offering professional service to customers, as new skills and knowledge are contributed in them (Cruess and et, al., 2019). The gap among the present and future position is defined which states that where the individual is right now and where it wants to see in future. The goals are achieved in the small-time frame. The larger goals of individual is bifurcated into small targets with the help of short term actions. These goals are essential in creating effective strategies to accomplish the goals. The feedback is provided which motivates in improving progress to achieve the desired goals. The examples of short- term goals are as follows- 1.Time management skills- I want to improve this skill as it is considered as an important goal, as to have the success, the task must be managed properly to complete the work efficiently within the time frame. The development of this skill helps in maintaining the accuracy in the job and minimization of issues and errors. 2.Communicationskills-Thisskillwillhelpindevelopingthepersonaland professional skills in the suitable manner. In order to achieve the targets different peoplefromdifferentculturesandbackgroundsworkstogetherforwhich understanding of communication language is important that can be done through the development of communication skills. 3.Professional certification- There are numerous certified courses which will help in the development of the personal and professional skills in the individual. The time frame of the medium-term goals is longer period involving five to eight months in the achieving the targets. It is road map which is very essential in providing the monthly reflection as there is change in path while aligning this goal with long term goal (Lillge, D., 2019). The evaluation is taken from time to time to know the objectives are followed in the right track. In setting the goals the SMART technique is used involving simple, measurable, attainable, relevant and time based to set the better goals. These goals are made in order to personal values which helps in accomplishing the goals. The example of medium-term goals are as follows- 1.Growth in career- In the today times the competition is becoming much higher as the individual get confuse what career they must choose. In the time of graduation. it is veryimportanttochoosethecareerpathwhichhelpsinbuildprofessional development. The career path will help me in getting the better job where I can make the better use of my skills and abilities in the most authenticated way. 2.Higher position- Every person in the professional life wants to get higher position in their job in some time period by making the effective use of skill, capabilities and knowledge after getting the job in well reputed company. The experience helps the individual in improvement of skills. 3.Salary increment- After working long in the company the person expects of the appraisal in the salary by at least 10-15% after gaining the lot of knowledge and skills developed. This brings the productivity in the organization cultures and tasks are achieved in the most efficient way which leads to enhance in the confidence. The goals are set for the longer time frame of having more than five to ten years. In setting the goals the feedback and evaluation is taken 5
to ensure the goals are in accordance to plan and achieved in the proper way. The examples of long-term goals are as follows- 1.Purchase of vehicle- Every person desire to have its own vehicle of the reputed brand which can be achieved by saving the money. In the purchase of vehicle, it requires lot of money and takes the longer period for achieving this goal. 2.Business- The individual has the long goal of opening its own business in the aim of profit. It requires the detailed business plan and market knowledge. I wish to open the small business of coffee shop by using my knowledge, skills and abilities. 3.Accuracy in work-The long-term goal is to improve the accuracy in the particular task performed in the organization which will help me in making effective strategies and leads to development of the professional skills and knowledge. It is an action plan which helps in identifying the individual goals, strength and weakness, areas that require the improvement in achieving the goals. It is the form of self-evaluation which is used in higher education and workplace. The personal development plan helps in providing the clear goals, improves employ-ability, performance, motivation is increased and the progress is tracked (Paesani, K., 2020). In the PDP specific strategy are involved which are focused for the improvement of the skills to havesuccessinfuture.Itinvolvesthestatementofone'saspirations,strengthor competencies, training to indicate how the plan needs to be realized. It contains the portfolio of skills gathered over the particular time frame. It is essential for the self-improvement, and career development. The plan provides the right direction and inspires the people to leave their comfort zone. In preparing the plan the SMART goals are considered where the aim is specified, for having the correct direction and each goal must be measurable to review the objectives. The another is goal must be achievable that the person needs to be aware regarding their objectives. Next comes, relevance in SMART technique that the objectives display the availability of resources required for goal setting. The relevance also indicates reasonable and realistic goal to motivate the individua (Ronen, I.K., 2020). The last is time, the setting of time period is very crucial as to achieve the success. If the particular goal is not fir in the appropriate time, then the pan will be of no use and the goals will not be achieved. It is a long-lasting process which needs the evaluation from time to time in the future plan (Zhang and et, al., 2020). 6
Conclusion It has been concluded that the PDP need and requirement is very important for each and every individual that are associated with the universities, schools, colleges etc. the PDP assists the person in effective planning and strategies in order to overcome with the challenges. The individual learns numerous skills and practiced for the growth in the personal and professional life.
