INTRODUCTION

operations and activities in a workplace. Leadership is referred to individual ability to lead a
specific group or team of people oriented above achievement of common goals and
objectives. For instance, there is a huge significance of both management and leadership in a
workplace which ensures effective and efficient completion of operations and activities. An
individual need to understand importance of management and leadership which facilitates in
achievement of personal as well as professional goals and objectives. Sainsbury’s is among
leading chain of supermarkets in United Kingdom with enormous number of business outlets
engaged in serving a huge amount of customer base. This report assessment will be
comprised of effective understanding of determined topic with insightful and essential
information and knowledge. Furthermore, it will be including self-analysis with application
of Skill audit and SWOT analysis which further influences personal development plan for
personal growth and development (Schermerhorn Jr, Bachrach, and Wright, 2020).
TASK 1
Management and Leadership
Management is basically the process of dealing with acitivities as well as people in a
workplace. The determined meaningful process is comprised of strategic planning and
organising resources in the most efficient manner. In addition to that, it contributes additional
values towards accomplishment of organisational goals and objectives by carrying out
business operations and activities. For example; As Sainsburys is engaged in serving
groceries to their customers, management representatives are aimed at providing customers
with quality product and delightful experience in shopping with respective organisation (De
Bruijn, and Ten Heuvelhof, 2018).
Leadership on the other hand, is important in workplace of respective company which
facilitates individual leaders to develop a sense of belongingness among other team or group
members. For instance, leadership further facilitates in orienting the overall group towards
achievement of common goals prior to achievement of personal goals and objectives.
Another major significance associated with leadership is determined as improvement and
enhancement of efficiency and productivity in workplace (Griffin, 2021).

Gibbs Reflective Cycle
Gibbs-reflective-cycle is a model or framework comprised of six stages taken into
consideration for reflective writing practices. In addition to that, these stages are inclusive of
Description, Feelings, Evaluation, Analysis, Conclusion, and Action plan.
There is a huge necessity for an individual to learn and develop management as well
as leadership skills and abilities. For instance, it facilitates an individual to succeed in life by
providing them with excellence and understanding of appropriate approach and behaviour
towards various aspects of life. In addition to that, primary of these skills and abilities in
management and leadership includes communication, creativity, emotional intelligence,
critical thinking, problem solving, etc. which allows a representative to practice the same in
an effective as well as efficient manner (Gibbs' Reflective Cycle, 2022).

 Description: This stage is the initial stage in Gibbs-reflective-cycle which
encompasses decription of the entire experience of the individual and the situation he
or she was in. My personal vision has always been lied in contributing additional
values towards society as well as business environment by becoming a successful
entrepreneur. For instance, I want identify a problem faced by people in society and
develop a solution regarding the same with a business idea. Moreover, I want to
contribute an innovative and creative approach of business by providing customers
with required and demanded products and services (Paulson, and Laverty, 2018).

 Feelings: In order to become a successful entrepreneur, I need to have sufficient
knowledge and understanding of management as well as leadership. For instance,
since my school I was aimed at acquiring information and knowledge to maximum
extent in order to ensure a bright future and career ahead. I have been self-motivating
myself since my school phase in order to be focused and determined at becoming a
successful entrepreneur. Furthermore, another major purpose behind consideration of
this career is to earn a living out of it in order to survive and live with sufficient
amount of earning (Rosenbach, 2018).
 Evaluation: Each and every experience have positive and negative aspects associated
with that particular situation at that specific moment of time. For instance, a focused
and determined approach of contributing additional values was the major positive
aspect associated with this experience. On the other hand, risk of failure and low self-
confidence due to insufficient information and knowledge is considered as negative
aspect associated with the same.
 Analysis: This particular situation could have been better if I had sufficient amount of
self confidence and knowledge regarding management and leadership. Though, I had
strong will power to be determined at personal growth and development but still I
could have had higher self-confidence. All these experiences have provided me with
an effective understanding that I lack in various areas that need improvement and
enhancement.
 Conclusion: In order to ensure personal growth and development, I need to initiate
additional efforts towards learning and development of management and management
skills. For instance, it will further facilitate me in ensuring my personal growth and
development with learning of additional information and knowledge regarding the
same. Furthermore, an entrepreneur faces immense amount of issues and challenges
in carrying out operations and activities which require efficient management and
leadership skills (Miner, and Nicodemus, 2021).
 Action Plan: I have considered the use of Personal development plan comprised of
activities and practices I need to undertake in order to ensure personal growth and
development. For instance, It includes activities to be performed in a specific duration
of time which further facilitates in improvisation and enhancement of particular areas
with scope of improvement (Eacott, 2018).

Sainsbury's is one of the leading UK based business organisation engaged in
providing grocery products to customers. Sainsbury's is the second largest supermarket chain,
operating with enormous number of business units within geographical boundaries of United
Kingdom. Being established in 1869 by John James Sainsbury, it has been headquartered in
London, United Kingdom. Sainsbury is engaged in retail industry in UK, serving groceries
and other consumer products in their business units.
Transferable skils
Transferable skills are referred to individual skills that could be transfered from one
job to another. For instance, it basically includes set of skills and abilities that could be used
in more than one job or role in a business organisation.
Supportive Communication

What is Supportive communication: Supportive communication is practice of providing
support to employees in a workplace in order to encourage them for carrying out assigned
operations and activities. For instance, it includes both verbal as well as non-verbal forms of
communication including supportive gestures and behaviour towards employees in
workplace. The major purpose behind supportive communication lies in providing support to
employees in order to accomplish organisational goals and objectives.

that it enhances performance of employees in workplace. For instance, it further supports in
strengthening relationship of employees with employers which result in eliminating potential
