Introduction
Personal professional development is a process of learning through which an individual or an
organisation meets challenges and desired goals1. It involves learning and developing new
skills and knowledge. A personal professional development plan is developed by an
individual to acknowledge own strengths and weaknesses and find a way to improve them2.
To make the development process easier and enjoyable, it is important to acknowledge
personal learning style preference. It helps in effective and fast learning. Personal
professional development plan is developed in this assessment by considering learning style
preference test and competency test result.
Task 1
Evaluation of learning style and its implementation in personal development
Learning style
The test result for my learning style preference presented in appendix 1 shows that I am a
highly visual learner followed by low auditory and tactile learning preferences. The
percentages of my visual, auditory, and tactile learning styles are 85 percent, 5 percent, and
10 percent respectively. According to the result, by using primarily visual learning methods, I
can learn more effectively. Analysing my learning style preference by the second method, it
can be said that my learning style preference is highly visual followed by a solitary and
verbal learning style3. The points given under different learning styles in the second method
helped me to find my preference for personal learning style. Both the methods used to

identify my learning style preferences have one common result that is a visual learning style.
I usually learn and remember things by visualising and taking notes.
Experience of learning new skills and information
Learning new skills and information is an important part of human life. Learning is a thing
that is involved in people’s everyday life, from developing new technical skills to learning
how to operate small things like remote of a television. Mostly, to learn these small to huge
things couple of methods is used by a person such as reading, watching videos or by just
using hit and try the method. In my case, I usually prefer to read and watch videos to
understand different things. For example; to understand the operations and features of a
smartwatch that I bought a few days ago, I used videos from YouTube. I also used written
instructions that came with the device to operate and use its maximum features. Also, I never
tried to learn how to operate the watch by myself as I learned from my previous experiences
that this method does not work for me. By analysing this simple experience of learning, it can
be said that watching and reading works effectively in my learning process.
Written instruction of any product is a necessary part for me to understand the complex
features and processes of any device. Written instructions with pictures are the simplest way
to learn new things by a visual learner4. According to the experience, the instruction was
highly useful to me as I followed every step that was mentioned in the instruction and
successfully learned to operate my smartwatch.
Continuous personal development
Continuous personal development is the process of learning new skills and knowledge
through interactive, independent, or participation-based training5. Analysing the continuous
personal development cycle of CIPD and my techniques of learning, it can be said that I have

added to my skills and knowledge by using visualisation and observation6. Following the
cycle that includes identification of plan, act, reflect, apply, share and impact gives an ideal
way to learn and act. By acknowledging the continuous personal development process, it can
be said that observation and visualisation is the most effective way to develop a new skill,
learn new methods and technologies.
Training and development
Training is an important factor that influence the growth of an organisation as well as for an
individual. Training can be of different types and for several purposes. It improves the
performance of an individual by developing a its skills and knowledge. In an organisation,
training is needed to compete in this world of competition where everyday new methods and
techniques are developed7. An employer of the organisation expects its employees to be
skilled and full of technical knowledge. The employer of the organisation learns new skills
and strategies to implement in several places. It is done by the employer to survive in the
competitive world and become a strong competitor in the industry.
Task 2
Evaluating own skills and competence
Competence test
Competency is an important factor that defines an individual’s personality, skills, knowledge
and attributes in professional organisations and education sectors. The competence test
measures the ability of doing something efficiently. The result of my competency test
presented in appendix 2 shows my ability of doing things by analysing sixteen competencies
with comparing my rating to the reference group. According to the competency, my score in
