INTRODUCTION
PPD (Personal and professional development) is a process in which different individuals
and enterprise take part to enhance their knowledge to face the challenges and to achieve desired
goals (Dabbagh and Kitsantas, 2012). This process is associated with the development needs of
both individuals and groups. Main benefit of the concept is that it gives an opportunity to a
person identify and explore the opportunities exists business environment. Various tools and
techniques are used under this concept to make the learning process more effective and
interesting. ALDI is a leading grocery retailer based in the UK that is taken in this report to study
various concepts related to PPD. Various self-managed learning approaches and different
methods for encouraging professional learning are described in this report. Further, benefits of
self-managed learning for both company and individuals are also detailed. Various strategies of
managing time and different styles of communication at different levels of a company are also
studied here.

1.1Approaches of self-managed learning
Different approaches of self-managed learning are exist in business environment which
can be adopted by a person for managing his or her learning. Before choosing any approach it is
very essential for the individual to identify his current skills and knowledge. Moreover the main
approaches which can be choose by the ALDI include the following:ď‚· Visionary approach: This approach guide an individual about the different methods
which can be adopted by him for manage the self-managed learning and guide him to
understand the future trends (Wichadee, 2011). Main benefit of this is that it provide
opportunity to the individual to develop skills to fulfil the future requirements.ď‚· Setting objectives and goals: This approach is different from the visionary approach. The
main focus of this is to achieve a specific objective rather than understand the future
needs and trends. Various efforts are done to develop specific skill in the individuals so
he can achieve the specific goal.ď‚· Strategic approach: This is one of the effective approaches. In this, a strategic model is
build up in the individual's mind so he can effectively respond in complex situations.

background take part in seminars and exchange their views and ideas with each other.
This provide an opportunity to the individual to learn new things and concept about

development of various teams and then guide in the same direction for enhance their
skills and knowledge. Main benefit of this is that effective teams are formed under this in
which individual share their ideas and thoughts with each other. It assist in finding
appropriate solution to the issue and working in a team ensure that everyone is take part
in continuous learning.ď‚· Evaluation & analysis of own: In this a person first identify his own strengths and
weakness. A development plan is made by him on the basis of assessment.ď‚· Leadership: Leaders play an effective role in the whole process of self-development
(Kennedy, 2011). They are the one who motivate a group of individuals about the self-
development process and guide them to improve their skills and knowledge.

whole process of self-development. This clears roles and responsibilities of all

Whole process of self-managed learning provide number of advantages to both
individuals and organisation. One of the main benefit of this is that it ensure the development of
skilled candidates for the process of organisation (Mitchell, 2013). This gives an opportunity to
individuals to learn something new for explore all the opportunities.
Benefits to employees from the process of personal and professional development is

identify main cause of the problem and solve it to achieve the desired results. At present main
issue which is face bye ALDI is as follow:

Collaborative working: As firm is operating on an international levels that's why number
of people from different culture are presently working in company (Hicks and et. al., 2014). A
survey has revealed the fact that there is lack of coordination and cooperation among the various
activities of firm's department which is increasing the overall cost of business operations. This is
very necessary for the firm to solve this issue to achieve the set business objectives and utilise all
the available resources at an optimum level. Main reason behind this is unnecessary rules and
regulation of firm which is increasing both time and cost of the communication process and is
creating unnecessary obstacles in the communication process.
Solution: To solve the problem it is very necessary for the company to choose an
effective method. Various techniques which can be used by ALDI to solve this can be
understood by the following points:ď‚· Team building and working: In this method manager use various techniques to develop
effective teams to execute all operations (Hanraets, Hulsebosch and de Laat, 2011). This
method not only provide effective solutions to the problem but also enhance the
knowledge of workers.
ď‚· Development of effective communication channels: In order to remove the problem and
to increase the cooperation among various business operation, manager of ALDI is liable
to build and use effective communication channel.
4.2 Communication in a variety of styles at different level of organisation
Different styles of communication which occur at various level of enterprise can be
understood by the points stated below:ď‚· Verbal communication: This is one of the common most used type of communication.
Under this sender of message use the help of symbols and words to send his message to
the receiver (Fechter, 2012). This is more formal type of communication as compared
with written communication and this occur at the lower level of enterprise. It is very
essential for the sender to use effective and easy words while communicating so that

In today's business environment it is very essential for every company to complete all the
tasks in time. It help firm in getting competitive advantage in the market. Managing time

used by the manager of ALDI for managing time can be understood by the following:ď‚· Setting goals and objectives: Effective goals and objectives can be set by the company
for manage time (Chipchase, Johnston and Long, 2012). In this way employees can give
direction to their work and can contribute more in the firm's success.ď‚· Organise: In this manager of company do various efforts for organise the resources in
order to utilise them and to achieve the desired results.ď‚· Scheduling: A schedule is prepared by the company for its employees to complete all the
task in given time.ď‚· Time bound: In this manager introduce new methods for completing all the tasks in
minimum time.ď‚· Proactive: Performance evaluation of workers is done by the manager to identify gaps in

In order to design effective and successful developmental plan, it is necessary that an
individual should follow certain steps so that desired result can be generated (Magrane and et.
al., 2012). There is description of process which should be applied by management while
developing a plan that are given below-ď‚· Find a target time scale: Setting a time frame is very necessary during the implemetation
