INTRODUCTION
Personal and Professional development is a formal means by which an individual set out
goals, strategies and outcomes of learning and training. It clearly defines time frames, activities
and outcomes to meet define goals, specify date and reviews as well as learning activities that
include both formal and informal training and development sessions (Busse, Aboneh and Tefera
2014) It is mainly used in providing large variety of profession ans specialised training that
assist administration individual and employees in an effective manner. Eventually, an effective
personal and profession development provides higher growth and sustainability for particular
individual's career. In this report organisation chosen is Travelogue, an hotel sector that basically
operated by independent companies who have no connection with brand in other countries. This
report is going to analysis various approaches which are useful in managing self learning
process for life long development of individual within an organisation. Additionally, evaluating
current skills and competencies against professional standards that determines professional
development portfolio which process activities that are essential in development plan. Thus, a
respective organisation also measure current abilities and skill of professional development and
organisation standard in an effective manner.
TASK 1
1.1 Approaches to self managed learning
In today's context self managed learning is a continuous and gradual process in which an
individual steps out to formulate an effective learning strategies to enhance self development.
Additionally, it is also know as learning by self motivation. There are many approaches which
help an individual to set their goals and evaluate their purpose of planning and learning to
achieve their targets. Some of them are determined below:
Seminars and Conferences: Seminar and conferences are one of the best way to
manage self learning process (McNiff, 2010) . It help an individual to enact wide chances to
share and develop ideas as well as motivation through their own experience. This benefit both an
employee and individual in their personality development and improve their knowledge by
sharing views, ideas with innovation in it. Thus, it help to increase person's ability, capabilities
and confidence to speak up in public.

Social networks: In today's context social network have created its importance in self
managed learning process. There are various networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and
many other that help an individual and employee in developing and gaining knowledge from
different websites. Additionally, add value in both employees and individual in improving their
communication skills, enhancements in performance which help in developing an individual
career.
Training and development programmes: Training and development programs are
basically designed in order to train and develop an individual knowledge and skills on regular
basis of time. (Stenfors Hayes, et.al. 2010).It help an individual to develop their own knowledge
and competencies in relation to specific skills which is beneficial for both employees and
individual to achieve their goals and objectives respectively.
The above mention are different approaches of self learning process that help both
employees and individual in self learning program. Thus, it will help managers of Travelodge in
improving learning process as well as self development of individual and employees within
organisation.
1.2 Life long learning process in personal and professional development
In an organisation mangers of Travelodge are encouraging life long learning process for
its employees and individual so that it is beneficial for both individual and organisation. This
process is helpful for employees in learning and acquiring new things for enhancing their own
growth and development both in professional and personal life. Moreover, some of the life long
learning process adopted by the managers of Travelodge are determined below:
Continuous Professional Development: Continuous Professional Development is one
of the most effective and long term systematic process that help an individual and employee to
develop as well as enhance skill and abilities of an individual in a respective manner
(Hildebrand, 2018).Moreover, it also help managers in tracking and developing skills,
knowledge and experience of individual, employees and staff members within an organisation.
Thus, this process is an ongoing process in one's life.
Apprenticeship: An apprenticeship is a new way of learning in both professional and
personal life. This process help both individual and employees to develop and learn on
continuous process while performing their duties and responsibilities within an organisation.

Thus, this process is useful for both employees as well as organisation in order to attain their
goals and objectives respectively.
Further learning process: In today's context many organisation are allowing their
employees and staff members to develop and improve their skills, knowledge and competencies
in order to have high skilled workforce. Additionally, it also provide opportunities to individual
in enhancing their career opportunities as well as add value and quality of life standard for longer
periods of time.
Self directed learning: Self directed is a learning process in which an individual selects
and manage their own learning activities which an perused at any with irrespective of age (Von
Haenisch, 2011) It creates benefits for an individual to meet up their goals and objectives as well
increase their value in their career. Thus, it also enables them to organisation goals and
objectives within stated framework.
The above mention points are life long learning process that are adopted by managers of
Travelogue so that individual and employees are helpful both in professional and personal life.
Hence, managers are encouraging its employees and staff members in enacting their knowledge
and skills on regular basis while performing their duties.
1.3 Benefits of self-managed learning to individual and organisation
Self-managed is a learning process in which an individual takes initiative in formulating
and learning that is essential in one's life. This process of learning is beneficial for both
organisation and employees as well as it enhance employees and individual performance within
an organisation.
Benefits to individual in Travelodge: Self managed is learning process that help an
individual in learning specific skills through self managed learning method. This process is
flexible in nature in which employees and individual become more comfortable through self
learning. Additionally, it creates an ability in an individual to deal complex situations, improving
performance as help them to take decision which is beneficial for themselves as well as
organisation too. Moreover, managers are help its employees in learning while performing job
task and gaining knowledge from training and development session, seminars and conferences
on regular period of time.
Benefits for Travelodge: This process help managers of Travelodge in reducing cost of
learning and development process for its employees and staff members. It also improve
