Personal reflection is the act of analyzing one behavior and the act of deciding on different
occasions in our lives. One of the significant challenges in our lives is to pass judgment in many
contradicting instances (Shamira &Eilam, 2018). The decision making is influenced by some factors such
as the education level, religious beliefs, cultural background, and even illegal practices such bribe,
corruption, nepotism and favor giving where you give your friend support over the others (Rose-
ackerman & Palifka, 2016). It may result in several emotions from the parties involved such as anger,
annoyance, confusion and many other. The following cases I used them to study my reflection as long as
decision making is concerned.
All Asia Airways case
In this scenario, I took the place of Richard Chang. I made many decisions in the firm which were
right and wrong. I fired anybody in the firm as long as you have failed to achieve the firm expectation
even if it was a family member. The wrong decision I made was to fire the employees if they fail to meet
my unrealistic goals that need more time for the employee to deliver them (Klein, 2017). Impatient is one
of my weakness as I did not give the employees time to work to achieve the firm's goals as per rules and
regulations. I encourage the employees to use methods that are faster and profitable without putting in
consideration the risks involved. Secondarily, I am over-ambitious as I give unrealistic goals for my
employees to achieve.
I understand that every employee should be treated the same even if you are a member of the
family of the owner of the firm. I feel sorry for the family members who Chang fires whom they expect to
get aid from him, but at last, he fires them. It makes me feel confused about how can fire his family
members and still call them family. I was annoyed by the way Chang treats his employees by firing them
whenever they don’t achieve the firm’s objective.
I thought the family members should encourage and protect each other in time of need (Ward,
2016) but Chang used to fire even members of the family.

Gold and Diamond watch
In this case, a take the place of Charles, the boss in the Anderson office Supplies. I made a wise
decision by being there to advise my employees. I did advice Ryan not to give bribe to a potential
customer and also made the right decision by firing Ryan for trying to give out the bribe after I have
advised him not to. Am knowledgeable having worked for a couple of years, and I understand that
business transaction should not contain practices that contradict the rules and regulations such as bribery
and corruption (Goodpaster, 2015). Am a man of my words as I fired Ryan as I had warned him I would
fire him if found giving bribe.
Am worried of Ryan for he asked for a loan from his father's friend but now is fired and had now
fund to pay back the money he borrowed.
Charles has a good experience in this business over the couples of years he knows the ruled very
well and that the reason he fired Ryan. Also, he is wise enough to warn the Ryan the consequences of
giving out bribe during business activities.
Attribute Responsibility and Accountability
It is the act of being responsible for one’s actions. It is an act of being there to solve the problem
you triggered yourselves (Richard, 2017). The following scenarios describe responsibility and
accountability.
A Tiger Leaks Out of the Zoo, Kills and Then Eats Its Trainer:
Document Page
Running header: REFLECTION 4
The trainer is accountable for the action while the city zoo management is held responsible
(Macaulay, 2018). The trainer didn't train the tiger not to attack people. He should have learned how to
calm down the tiger. The administration should have feed the tiger and couldn't have fed on its trainer.
The trainer didn't do his/her job as required and that why he was unable to cool down the tiger. The
management didn't safeguard the cages of the tigers and that why it did escape. If annoyed by the
management for not guarding the tigers that lead to the death of the trainer.
Cooperate Responsibility
The firms should be responsible for their impact on the general public and the environment. It
means that the companies should observe the environment in their processing processes so as not to
pollute it. The following scenarios I will explain the cooperate responsibility.
Global-Batteries corporation
GBC India exploded even after the inspection by GBC HQ identified that working conduction
was better than that of the parent company resulting in the death of five thousand people. Here the GBC is
responsible as it’s the one who carried out the inspection. A code of conduct and law of ethics needs to
be developed that will define the mode in which battery producing companies will operate and their
impact on the environment (Dubrin, 2015). The firm should compensate the families after this accident by
providing to those families with their basic needs for a given period.
You Be the Judge: What’s Fair and Reasonable
Motoring Accident Case
I would have the driver who was over speeding and did signal jump be responsible for his action
by having his/her licensing suspended for five years and buy another car for the driver whom vehicle was

damaged. I made this decision knowing that he did break the traffic rules and regulations (Scott-parker &
Oviedo-trespalacios, 2017)
A community Affected case
I would have the government compensating the resident and offer loans with no interest to the
resident to enable them to shift their lives from the village to the town. I made this decision having in
mind that the residents in the Hicksvilla could not afford to settle in the city where houses are more
expensive compared to the village.
A heinous crime
I would sentence the man into life imprisonment with no parole. The man has been repeating the
same offense over the years. He should be in prison for the rest of his life because he had the tendency
repeating the same crime over the years.
Taxing Questions
The business has acted against the Austrian government (Chell, Spence, Perrini & Harris,
2016). The business person should pay the fine as per the Australian Government, lose his/her trading
license and expose him to community services for six months. The business person is taught a lesson and
to act as an example to other business people with the same practices.

Reflection Analysis
Through the help of various diagnostics tools, I was able to assess my accurate reflection. The
decision I made in the various cases above where different from my true reflection. For instance, in the
case of All Asia Airways case, I made the wrong decision by firing my employees together with my
family members but comparing to my reflection as per subject “MGMT 20134 Business Ethics and
Sustainability” am good in authentic leadership and relational transparency. In the case of Gold and
Diamond watch, I made the right decision of warning Ryann in giving bribe. The decision to warn Ryann
to reflect my moral competence which is high as reflected in diagnostic tool “Moral Competence
Worksheet.”
To understand one reflection, you need to undergo several tests with the help of a diagnostic tool
to understand your weakness and strengths (Pearson, 2017). Through the help of online diagnostic tools,
what next website and 16personalities website I realized my strength such as judging and assertiveness
which am looking forward to improving and work to perfect my weakness such as thinking. All this tools
and cases has enabled me in knowing my strengths and weakness which I will work on to assist me in
future in deciding on manager or leader. I would like to thank my lecturer Sandra Figueira for helping me
understand this unit and being supportive all the time since the beginning of this unit.
