Self reflection on employment
Employment can be defined as profession or contract that is being made between 2 parties where
work is paid for. After higher education all people want to get en effective employment
opportunities in different fields. But there are several factors that may affect employment and
can make it successful (Hussein, 2018). So, with the help of Gibbs reflective model I want to
discuss and share my feelings about employment as what factors may affect it and can make it
effective such as:
Description: I want to discuss some factors that may affect employment and plays a vital
role. While working in retail industry as marketing assistant I found that working environment
plays a vital role. An effective working environment with having safety, security and friendly
environment motivates employees towards accomplishing goals and retaining with the company
for the long run (Rožman and et.al., 2019). I can also say that an effective working environment
and organizational culture improves relation between employees because it leads to effective
mode or flow of information. It can reduce errors in work and task that can lead to improved
overall productivity and performance.
Feeling: I felt that team working is other main factor that can affect success of employees
and can help them out in getting better employment opportunity. While evaluating I found that I
am good in this skill. I also believe that team working rather working individually increases
knowledge of people and provide them several benefits. I want to share my personal experience
in which I found that when we work in a team for accomplishing same or common goal then we
give our 100% and different people have different styles of performing. So, by working in a team
we can learn different and effective ways of performing and it improves our relation, makes us
able in completing task in timely manner and understanding different cultures as well.
Evaluation: Rather, working environment and culture it is also important of having some
skills that can help employees in becoming successful in their profession. I evaluated my own
skills and weaknesses and found that I am good and effective in communication. As marketing
assistant it is important of having an effective communication skill for interacting with different
behaviours of people and making them understand about products (Genç, 2017). Communication
is one of the main skills that can help all people in becoming successful in their professional and
personal life as for working in organization, there is requirement of interacting with stakeholders.

working under pressure in an effective manner. An effective decision making and problem
solving skill makes us refreshed and boost our confidence. On the other hand, there are some
areas in which I am not good and want to improve them for developing career in marketing field.
One of the main skill in which I am lacking behind is time management skill. For better
employment, it is important of having an effective time management skill for completing work
on time. I felt that due to lack of this skill and not working tasks on time leads to frustration. It
makes us frustrated that can create barriers in accomplishing goals. I also found while working in
a team and at the time of situation of Covid-19 that I lack in flexibility or ability to adapt
changes. It also makes us frustrated and for continuing work without getting affected it is
important of having this ability in all employees.
Analysis: I analysed several situation and identified some factors that can affect
employment. I worked in more than 2 companies and by comparing 2 companies where I worked
I can say that leadership and organizational culture is one of the main key of staff retention and
success of company. One organization follows task culture and main focus on employers to get
task completed by employees and teams are formed for solving problems and accomplishing
goals. I felt that in this type of culture, employees are being treated as an ordinary resource of the
company that can only employed for completing task (Bake, 2019). Whereas, in other
organization, role culture where, tasks are being assigned as per the experience of employees
and employees are being treated as one of the important resources of the company. So, I found
that companies that value their employees, are more likely to have skilled workforce and
increasing staff retention rate. So, I can say that organization culture motivates employees
towards accomplishing goals.
In addition, I also analysed and found that leadership and team working also plays a vital
role. Way of leading can either motivate or de-motivate employees. There are several styles of
leading among such as autocratic, democratic, and transformational and others. Companies that
follow autocratic leadership are less likely to motivate employees as compared to those who
follow democratic and other effective style. Those style in which leader guides, provide
opportunity of sharing views for decision making are more likely to increase staff retention rate.
Because employees want leader that can understand their behaviours and rather punishing all the
time, they reward and appreciate them.

Conclusion: It can be concluded that working environment, organizational culture and
leadership plays a vital role in getting employment opportunity and becoming successful. There
are several other factors that can also affect employment such as team working, motivation and
skills that people posses. It makes them able to work in an effective manner and helping out
company in meeting goals.
Action plan: I found some areas in which I am not good and require improvement. There
