Personal Statement
Always fascinated and surprised by the fact that how infrastructures are designed and
conceptualised it became a reality and resulted in my career development towards civil
engineering. A number of extraordinary structures can be seen around the world such as the great
wall of China, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Eiffel tower in Paris and so on. All these helped and
motivated me to start a career in civil engineering.
The course of Civil Engineering consists of more than just construction of buildings. My
interest is in geotechnics which involves using practical skills in order to make as well as test
different materials. My major interest is also in developing structures and finding out solutions to
various problems in family residences.
In order to complete degree in civil engineering I am considering XYZ university. There
are a number of benefits which will come along while I study in this university. The course
requires professional orientation, fast paced course work and continuous engagement. The
environment of university accomplishes all of these. The program provided by university is also
personalized and flexibility is available to students in term of classes. Students can also choose
from a number of different courses available so that the degree is opportunistic and not
burdensome for individuals. The small groups of student in campus become family soon. The
competition present for students are driving them to do their best in their field.
The degree is truly focused on career of students. The job opportunities which are
provided to students after their degree are beneficial to give their career a kick start as a civil
engineer. There are a number of big companies who come to university looking for fresh talents
and they recruit a number of students. Overall the university provides good environment, best
knowledge, cut throat competition as well as career development opportunities.
I believe I can do great in this field as my knowledge in mathematics is excellent. I have
successfully developed my problem solving skills with the help of extra classes. Physics is
another interest of mine which is required for engineering. The logical reasoning in the subject
attracts me. There are number of other topics of my interest that will be helping me in my career
development such as harmonic motions, resonance etc. All these relations between the subject

and my personal interests have driven me to choose this as my career and XYZ university to
pursue this course.
