1PERSONAL VALUES AND VISION STATEMENT
Identifying the core values that guide us help us set our goals, mission and vision of
our life (Sagiv et al). As people, we value different things and these aspects define our
personality and life view. When I think about my end of life, I want to be able to learn about
three most important lessons of my life. The first lesson that I want to learn is making every
moment count. As human beings, we have short life span. Much of it is spent in learning and
working. The rest of the time that we have should be spent by pursuing one’s passion and
dreams, following their life long values. This makes us understand the value of life and by the
end of life, we have no regrets.
The second lesson that I want to learn is the value of experiencing our learning. I
presently work as a case manager and my job involves working with people in need. I am
being able to practice what I have learnt but I would like to explore that to a greater degree
and establish myself as a successful case manager. As an intern I am learning through
experience and I would like to apply that in my future. Through this experience I would also
like to experience the power of empathy as it is critical in serving people.
The third lesson that I want to learn is flexibility. Everybody has goals and missions
in their life. While it is necessary to follow them, we should also ensure that we are open
enough to incorporate new ideas into it or change with time (Barney). Flexible allows us to
stay updated and adapt to changes. At the end of my life I want to ensure that I have been
flexible with the necessary aspects of my life and I have grown through so that I do not
become outdated as a person.
The person that I deeply admire is my father. He has three key qualities that I respect
greatly. The first quality is punctuality. He is always on time wherever he goes and believes
that punctuality increases discipline in people, which makes them grow. Another quality is
his sense of responsibility to his family and the people that are close to him. He takes
