The personality theories helped in understanding the different sentiments and psychological factors that influence motivational responses in diverse situations. The different theories that are developed by Sigmund Freud and Carl Rogers helped in understanding the different traits in the personality of the individuals. Eysenck and Wilson (2013) stated that the Freud’s theories on the psychological constructs reflected the integrated functioning of the ego, id and superego. The different changes in the behaviors of the people are strictly characterized by the integration of Ego, Id and Superego. On the other hand, Freud believed that the personality development in the people occurs through the five ‘psychosexual’ stages from birth to the adolescence. Greene(2017) noted that the environment that surrounds an individual in the psychosexual stages helps in molding the personality of the same. However, Eysenck and Wilson(2013) noted that the genesplay an important role in bringing forth changes in the personality traits in a person. Rogers believed that the personality of a person depended on the conscious experience that is gathered by the same while interacting in different situations. The response clearly exhibited the different elements of personality in the humans and the manner in which they are related to the behavior of the individuals. The self-concept and actualization theory by Rogers is more effective than the Freud’s unconscious mind theory, as it emphasize more on the inner mechanism and instincts of an individual over the unknown domains.
