Purpose of the project
Project objectives
Contoso Corporation has acquired another company known as Adatum. The new
company currently have three large sites which consists between 500 to 1000 users where the
headquarter office is in Melbourne where the majority of application servers are Microsoft
exchange and SQL servers. In addition the Adutum has twenty small remote sites which consists
between 25 to 50 users each. The first aim of this project is create hundreds of new servers every
month for Contoso Corporation.
Specifically this project report will create an automated server installation plan which
will help support the project. Second this project paper is aimed at highlighting how to go about
designing network infrastructure of the new company as this is the starting point of server
deployment; in here the paper is aimed at showing a Cisco SAFE architecture logical design.
Also at this point the paper is aimed at improving the network capacity of the company,
providing future expansion capability, and improving fault tolerance
The proposal will go ahead to show how one can design a server consolidation strategy.
Also the paper will show how to configure a site-to-site VPN due to the remote VPNs,
configuring packet filters, how the company can implement packet tracing, and how to go about
implanting multisite remote access

1. How do you go about designing a hierarchical network design?
2. What are the systems requirements for server installation and how is server imaging
performed?
3. What are the steps for setting-up an active directory and domain controllers?
4. How to do you plan for virtual server deployment and server deployment to the cloud?

5. How to do you use deployment kit and windows assessment using Windows and
performing unattended installation by using WDS?
Justification of the aims
The bottom line of the stated objectives and research questions is to show how best an
organization or any other company beside the Contoso Corporation can about in planning and
implementing a server. First, the bottom line of planning server deployment to the cloud is to
state the steps which are required to be performed for server deployment to Amazon IaaS and
planning for deployment of private and public clouds. This is done since most of organizations
are moving their services to cloud. Also, here the paper is aimed at deploying servers by using
Windows PowerShell.
Second, the bottom line of showing virtual server deployment is showing how Contoso
Corporation can go about running VMware or Hyper-V. Third the base line of selecting server
deployment strategy is showing the best way that Contoso Corporation can go about in deploying
windows server with very minimal resources, time, and effort. Forth, the bottom line of WDS is
to show how Contoso Corporation can perform PXE booting with no local operating systems and
how the company can go about managing operating system files and image files. Lastly, the
ADK objective will show how Contoso Corporation can use parts or all of the resources which
are available in Windows Server ADK.
