Pleasure Reveals Vocation
Introduction
Vocation can be identified as a calling, a strong feeling towards something for example a
profession. On the other hand, pleasure is a sense of happiness or gratification towards a certain
task or something else. Revealing means disclosing something that has been in secret. A.G
Sertillanges concluded that pleasure reveals individual’s vocation. There is a difference between
a career and a vocation because career is a job that one engages in after proper training while a
vocation is God granted without necessarily having been trained (Dillen, 2014).
Pleasure Reveals Vocation
Individuals should engage themselves in so many services to ensure that they may realize
what gives them pleasure. Grandpa went to school to realize his career but at the same time he
had a calling in evangelizing. His career of bureaucracy was about achieving and advancing in
life while the vocation was all about pleasing God. Vocation also pleases the entire world and
other people and it brings a lot satisfaction in life. Ones an individual gets pleasure in what he or
she is doing, they definitely know their call and they eventually deliver to their level best. Hence
pleasure reveals individual’s vocation (Hibbard, 2014).
One can also identify individuals who need help and by helping them they end up
realizing their calling in life. Even Christ himself proclaimed that he did what he was told by his
father to do. Grandpa realized that so many people were disappointed with life and he made a
decision of encouraging them. After a while, he came to realize he had a calling in encouraging
others and evangelizing the gospel. God end up helping individuals who help others more than
they actually helped (Russo, 2011).
