1POLICING AND CRIME
The term police corruption means a process where the police officials are breaking all
the law and rules for their personal interest. In this process, the offender can be one or group
of police personnel. The main significance of this case is that it involves certain aspect of the
social welfares like public trust, human rights and departmental policies. The problem
regarding police corruption is vital and it includes certain offences like taking bribe for not
reporting certain criminal activities and flouting the code of conduct to secure the suspects
and falsifying the evidences. Such crime should be banned to secure the interest of the
common people and maintain legal process everywhere. However, many countries including
Australia are affected by this custom.
Certain researches have been made on this topic. Perry (2017) has renamed the police
corruption in Australia as fragmentary and he has made certain connection of political
influence in the police section in Australia. In this book, Perry has identified certain central
intellectual issues. In his book, Perry has pointed out the process by which certain police
officers become corrupted and how they are misusing their power by suppressing the human
rights and policies. There are certain strength and limitations engraved under his books and
his observation against the policing misconduct among the force in Australia. According to
the author, the corrupted police officers are engaged in false encounter, accepting bribes to
destroy the evidence and conduct burglary in the house of the accused or the suspects. The
author has pointed out the undesired political interference within the force that helps that
police officer to conduct criminal activities. From his book, it can be learnt that the
corruption within the Australian Police Force has been increased epidemically due to those
political confrontation. However, his book has expressed exaggeration regarding the political
influence over policing. This can be considered as the primary weakness of his theory.
Further, the author has failed to consider different aspects of the police authorities and failed

to point out the reasons behind the same. He has highlighted the political assistance and held
it as the main reason for the police corruption.
Further, the author has able to draw certain outline regarding the reasons and scope of
the police corruption. Additionally, the author has mentioned the effect of the political
infiltration in the police force. However, he has failed to point out various other sides of the
corruptyion and failed to state any reformatory process regarding the same. Therefore, it can
be stated that the author has failed to make a convincing approach regarding the same.
Certain biasness can be observed in his observation on the police corruption. In the
inception of his research, he has highlighted the misconducts done by the police officers and
given certain instances where they deny the human rights and justice. On the other hand, he
held the political interfere responsible for the corruption and research on that. Therefore,
biasness regarding the reasons for the police corruption can be observed.
The author has helped to understand the impact of the police corruption in the society.
However, certain grounds of the political confrontation in policing should be omitted and
much concentration should be given on different aspect of police corruptions.
