MAIN BODY
How do you find information and evaluate its source
Internet is the source of unlimited information on every topic but everything available on
internet is not correct (Nuamah and et.al., 2020). So an appropriate evaluation of the source is
must before believing the information or facts written. To evaluate a certain piece of information
I ask various questions to myself.
Where does the information come from?
Is there any evidence supporting the information?
Has it been refereed?
Does the language bias free?
What are the credentials of the author, publisher or source?
Does it cover all the sides of the question?
When was it published?
Is it too old?
What is the purpose of the information?
Does it state a fact, opinion or propaganda?
What do you understand by CRAAP test and how do you use it for your studies
CRAAP is the shortened form for Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and
Purpose. CRAAP test is a test that checks information sources for the objective reliability based
on academic disciplines. There are various sources available online that makes it difficult to
decide which source is trustworthy to use for research as a tool. It makes evaluating sources
convenient for the researcher. At universities higher level education librarians mainly use this
test for evaluation (Herrero-Diz, and et.al., 2019).
