REFLECTIVE REVIEW OF CPR1
Reflective review:
Academic review
Academically I had always been a bright student. My academic experiences since I
began my education in the preparatory school have been of a great impact to me. My way of
thinking, acting and speaking have changed a lot. After going through the academic
experiences all through the graduation days, I have learnt to think positively and widely. I
had completed my high school from the Furen International School in Singapore. After my
high school, I had done my Engineering degree from the Singapore University of Technology
and Design followed by an MBA degree from the renowned Singapore Management
University. Being in the University I had been extremely interested in business and was
always keen on learning business models. I had participated in a seminar in the first year
which was on the management of an organisation and I was required to produce a meaningful
academic paper and some deliverable product. There were few of the academic scholarships
that I had won during my academic career. Apart from these I had completed a senior thesis
and it was during my graduation days. I had the opportunity of publishing it and it was after
the completion of my integrated bachelor’s degree that I decided onto joining a company and
serving the company ABB. I had been born in America but due to my parents, I had to shift
to Singapore. My childhood included shifting of different multi-lingual schools which had
provided me with the opportunity of getting to learn various languages. This had emphasized
on the positive lessons that I had learned and formed experience which gave me the evidence
of accomplishments and motivation. I had gained a lot of confidence and involving actively
in the discussions and presentations have allowed me to look into all the challenges of life a
lot differently. I had also completed an internship which involved providing service to ta
disabled high school student. My school and university experiences have taught me how to
interact with the class mates and how to interact differently with the teachers and the elders.

REFLECTIVE REVIEW OF CPR2
After graduating from the high school, I had a plan onto working for the nation in a positive
manner and helping the people out through the invention of any kind of machine or software
that would help to resolve the problem of the global warming and pollution.
Professional review
To be precise, my professional experience has witnessed adaptation to organizational
changes and restructuring, on numerous occasions. Before I had joined ABB, my roles were
highly centred around General HR functions and Administration, stressing more on
transactional roles. In 2014, with a new CEO in office, an organizational change was
implemented, executing “White Collar Productivity”. The HR department underwent
significant transformations, in which 3 distinct pillars were implemented, namely Centre of
Expertise, HRBP, and Global Business Service. The transformation had been completed by
2017, and by 2018, was launched across the world. Post this, there had been a significant
influx in the number of complaints involving HRBP and our talent partners, on the grounds of
work delay and poor selection of candidates.
Towards the end of 2019, an official email was sent out by the senior management
team that a massive change was also to be implemented in early 2019. However, no such
actions have surfaced yet, and neither has there been a follow up or notice regarding the
same. Although this sounds like a good news for all, there are a few convulsions associated
with this. With no communication process to follow up on the matter, it has created a
significant amount of anxiety in the workforce, with an unnatural anticipation of a perhaps
improbable change. This had led to employees complaining of havoc, uncertainty, and some
have even pointed fingers at the credibility of the management team. Adversely, my role got
reduced from handling 3 to 2 units.

REFLECTIVE REVIEW OF CPR3
Professionally my experience is not as much as others. I have a professional
experience of 2 years and I am pretty new into this workforce. During my graduation days, I
had worked as an intern in two companies. The first company that I had worked was a non-
governmental organisation which basically worked for the benefits of the old people as well
as the disabled students and common folks. This had basically helped me to know the value
of life and that how the others do not have the opportunity to lead a normal life, since they are
neglected. Following this experience, I was interested in working as a healthcare
administrator and thus worked in one of the leading companies of Singapore named XYZ. I
was appointed as the administrator in the company and I was entrusted with the responsibility
of different inventions that can be made regarding the quality of the healthcare products. This
basically helped me to get acquainted with the challenges and the ways in they can be
resolved. I also gained an experience of managing the major work of the healthcare
department and looking into the internal matters of the company. However due to some
reasons I was not comfortable working in the company and thus I switched to the /company
ABB where I could work as an individual and my job is much more technical than the
previous job. This job as the senior administrator allows me to handle the technical problems
as well as managing the departments which are responsible for the production of the
healthcare items. My professional experience has helped me to gain self-reliance as well a
practical skills. The self-confidence and the maturity that I have gained has helped me to face
any kind of risk and challenge in my life and also taught me how to take care of the
teamwork. Most importantly I have gained an experience of communication which would
help me in achieving my goals in the upcoming years and in the company.
Personal learning and development
Work based learning:

REFLECTIVE REVIEW OF CPR4
According to Cottrel (2015), work based learning being an educational
learning approach has used the learning experiences of my academic and professional
life and has contributed to the social, academic, as well as career development. The
activities involve the application, reinforcement as well as refinement. The employees
in the company have helped the company to participate in various work-based
learning activities. It includes exposure of the young people to other business
activities. It has also improved community relations by helping the local youth with
employment and by providing them with the education facilities. It has also improved
the morale and the management skills of the adult workers of the organisation. The
various kinds of the work based learning include the work site field trips which
includes a trip that includes information on aspects of the industry. There is also an
activity which involves forming a relationship between the employees and the
managers, and it is called mentorship (Bond & Seneque, 2013) . Also job shadowing
is a short term opportunity that introduces the student to a particular job or career by
pairing him with a particular employee so that the student can familiarise himself with
the responsibilities and the duties of the job. The prime persons who are involved in
the work based learning activities are the students, the business mentors, the
coordinators as well as the parents too have an important role to play. This has helped
in the expansion of the curriculum and learning facilities, it has helped in the creation
of a talented future employees. It has also improved critical thinking and enhanced the
analytical reasoning and the logical abilities of the student. Most importantly it helps
in the establishment of connection between the student and the employees.
Personal learning
As stated by Watson & Reissner, (2014), the personal development in a
workplace involves the activities that help in the improvement of the awareness and

identity, as well develop potential and talents. With the gradual experiences, that have
been gained has helped in improving the personal development and also gain the
learning outcomes. I have become more extrovert and have been successful in letting
go of my introvert nature. I have learnt to agree to situations, and have gained
neuroticism and extraversion. It has also helped me to overcome my fears and gain
confidence in boosting my self-development goals. Experience of working in groups
and on assignments have helped me to learn to work well with the other people and
respect the other employees’ strengths and contributions. It has helped me to improve
my interpersonal skills and the negotiation skills as well. By understanding the
management practices, and the way the organisation works, it has increased my
commercial awareness. According to Qutab, Shfi-Ullah , Safdar & Khan, (2016), the
personal development activities involve management development, as well as
programs regarding the technical skills development and time management. These
activities also involve working with the employees to set relevant and challenging
goals which can be achievable. The employees must have a voice to share their ideas
and concerns (Sheehan, Ellinger & Ellinger, 2014).
Formal learning
Formal learning in an organisation involves a formal structured and organised
environment where the organisation involves a training programme on the job the
company offers intentional degrees and certificates for the learning programs since it
involves a rigid curriculum and corresponds to laws as well as presentational
education. The company of ABB involves a number of formal learning activities.
These include web based training for the employees, remote laboratories as well as e-
learning courses and workshops, seminars and webinars. The formal learning
