INTRODUCTION
The report discusses about various challenges like Presentation, T-shirt challenge, Debate
and Hotel challenge. It explains the different skills and challenges that one comes across while
being a part of such challenges and how do they help in improving overall productivity as well as
performance.
MAIN BODY
Presentation Challenge
There are different kind of presentation challenge which must be use properly as this help
in providing better opportunity which help in achieving desire aims and objective in a well
define manner. There is different art form which requires preparation as well as careful planning
which is essential for the individual to be more effective (Andrevski, Brass and Ferrier, 2016).
There are different kind of skills which needs to be effective such as communication skills which
is more essential to achieve the objective of the company. There are other skills which are
associates such as teamwork which is consider as the most effective skill in require to achieve
the effective outcomes. There are different kind of ability such as meeting skills which is
essential to as this help in improving the skills effectively. In the presentation the person needs to
be creative as the transforming words into simple keywords is essential which help in achieving
desire outcome effectively. The main objective of the presentation is to provide clear and simple
information which help in increasing the impact of the presentation skills effectively. The
managing skills are also essential as this aid in achieving the right objective in a well define
manner and also make presentation more effective from the audience perspective.
During my course at the university, I was asked to give a presentation about business
communication as a part of a team. We prepared for the same by assigning small tasks among
ourselves to ensure that the presentation was ready on time. Giving a presentation in front of the
class helped me in improving my overall communication skills (Chandra, 2017). Also, I even got
a chance to develop and boost my confidence level. I always had a fear of stage and public
speaking which I got a chance to overcome. While giving presentation, it is important for the
speaker to maintain eye contact with the audience. This helps in maintaining their attention to

what is being said. We had rehearsed for the presentation before presenting the final one and
were confident that it would go well.
We had distributed the work among ourselves and the leader had combined the final
work. We received a positive feedback from our tutor as well as the audience which means that
we had been successful in delivering the message effectively. Time management played a very
important role while delivering a presentation as no extra time was provided and we had to
complete it within the provided time limit. Therefore, for our presentation to be effective we
made sure that all of us were coordinated with each other (Chetty, Sándor and Szeidl, 2017).
This was one of the contributing factors for the success of our presentation. I learnt that every
person should get a chance to work as part of a team through a project or a group presentation
like ours.
T-Shirt Challenge
Love Nature is a brand that designs t-shirts that are made from recyclable material and
can be used for campaigns that are concerned with environment. The products of the brand are
eco-friendly and are targeted towards both males as well as females. This was a challenge that
we had to undertake at the university and in order to carry out the challenge effectively, primary
research was conducted. While being a part of the challenge, I got a chance to work in a team
which helped me in enhancing my communication skills. We had to design a t-shirt that had to
be sold online and generate awareness regarding the environment. While being part of this
challenge I also can across various challenges wherein I lacked certain skills.
I was given the task of managing the marketing aspect of the challenge wherein I had to
develop effective strategies in order to carry out various promotional activities in order to attract
more customers and market our brand. As a team, we divided the work among ourselves so as to
complete the challenge in an effective as well as efficient manner. The products were offered for
sale online and different payment options were provided to the customers. And once an order
placed by a customer was shipped, an email was sent to the customer’s mail id. Also, they
customers would receive the same shipment details on their phones through SMS (Choi and et.
al., 2017). The team worked in a coordinate manner to ensure that all tasks of the challenge were
addressed in a proper way. I used to require different skills such as communication skills which

is essential for providing better presentation in the classroom. I came across that I have to focus
more on this skill which help me to achieve better grades.
In order to have effective teamwork I divide the task as per the individual capability
which help me to increase the efficiency and provide better result. During the challenge the most
creative person was given to design the marketing campaign and other goods in handling money
were allocated finance aspect. Hence this way I showed the teamwork in the challenge. Apart
from this, time management as well as meeting skills are the vital aspect in this present. I used to
manage the time by creating blueprint and develop and effective communication channel through
which entire process rum smoothly (Chu and et. al., 2017). Beside this I develop timetable and
stick to the schedule which relief me to complete the challenge on time.
In order to fulfil the meeting ability, I used to communicate with other colleagues and
keep in touch during every aspect of making presentation which help me to complete the task on
time. I have learned from challenges as they are essential for me for my future career and help
me to achieve higher goals. Personal development and having such kind of skills are essential as
there is tough competition present in the business. I have learned that it will facilitate me to
explore and expand my career in a well-defined manner.
Debate Challenge
A debate can be defined a process which involves a formal discussion about a particular
topic wherein opposing arguments are put forward by two participants. I got a chance to
participate in a debate wherein me and an opponent had to discuss formally on a topic. There are
many skills that are required by a good debater in order to put forward his/her point. While
being a part of the debate, I used to practice every day in order to achieve the award for the best
debater. This helped me in developing certain skills like public speaking skills because at the
time of the debate, we had to address our points in front of a large audience. Not only public
speaking skills, but I also got a chance to improve my overall communication skills.
Participating in a debate challenge helped me in becoming competitive and building
confidence so that I can put forward my points. A debate challenge is a great opportunity for a
person to enhance his learning skills as well as develop confidence. While being a part of the
challenge, my team members used to support and encourage me to perform better. One of the
most useful things that I learnt from this challenge is to manage time effectively. It not only

helped me in becoming a more confident individual but also someone who had excellent time
management skills. Therefore, if a person ever gets an opportunity to participate in a debate
challenge, they should definitely go for it (Czaplewski and et. al., 2016)
(Fagereng, Gottlieb and Guiso, 2017). This will prove to be very advantageous for their overall
personality growth.
Apart from having many advantages, a debate challenge can come along with a lot of
disadvantages as well. One of them is that since there are two opponents, this can lead to two-
way opinions which can in turn confuse people. Also, if any of the opponent comes unprepared
for the debate, it can impact their performance during the challenge. Being a part of the debate
challenge will also provide an opportunity to interact with different people and also build
networking skills. Being a part of debate challenge my mentor helped me in preparing for the
debate. I used to go to the university early and then rehearse for the debate. This was because I
wanted to achieve the title of best debater and wanted to give in all my best efforts.
We were a team of 5 participants who had to speak different parts of the debate and our
opponents belonged to other universities. We were given a chance to speak one by one and had
to put forward our thoughts and points. A debate can help a person in enhancing their existing
skills as well as acquiring new ones. This will not only be useful at the university level but also
during future endeavors. A good debater always gets a chance to stand out from other because of
his/her excellent people and communication skills. Therefore, it is important to provide everyone
a chance to participate in any kind of debate and take the experience of the same.
Hotel Challenge
Hospitality industry is among the fastest growing industries that is majorly concerned
with providing a seamless experience to its customers. Marriott International is one of the most
widely known hotel brands that has a large and loyal customer base. Although the company
always tries to provide best of service to its customers, it can sometimes happen that the
customers are not satisfied with the service provided to them (Ma, Tang and Gómez, 2019). As a
result, they misbehave with the staff which is one of the biggest challenges that a hotel company
like Marriott International can come across. The management should make sure that the staff
members are provided effective training so that they understand the needs and expectations of
the customers in a more efficient manner. The staff should be trained about effective business

skills so that they have a clarity about what are they working towards in context to organizational
goals and objectives. This is important because such challenges can impact the overall
performance as well as productivity of the company on a whole.
There can be various other challenges that a hotel can come across while carrying out its
business operations. Marriott is a well-known brand and any kind of such challenge is always
tried by the staff to overcome. Also, it is made sure that the customers leave the hotel happy and
satisfied. The hotel staff should work in coordination with each other at all times so that such
challenges can be avoided or addressed properly. I once visited a hotel and saw that a customer
was behaving very badly with the security guard. The guard had been apologizing but the guest
kept on complaining. I learnt that the goodwill or rapport of a hotel plays a major part and if
affected can lead to a decline in its overall performance.
A hotel can even face challenges relating to finances like it may not be generating profits
due to which its performance can be affected. Therefore, it is important that the management
should always keep a backup plan so that whenever such a challenge come up, it can be
addressed effectively. Even the employees of the hotel should keep a track of their performance
and make sure that the customers do not feel uncomfortable and should rather have a long-lasting
experience. This way they will consider coming back to the hotel and also refer it to others
(Sarno, Tsiakas and Ulloa, 2016). Thus, this can help the company in overcoming the challenge
and thus enhancing overall performance. The profitability and rapport of the hotel within the
industry will also improve.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it can be concluded that there are different kinds of challenges
that can help in developing effective skills so as to improve overall performance. This will
further help in learning many new things and eliminating the challenges completely.
