1 Project Description (3 marks)
1.1 Opportunity/Problem 1 mark
Aspects that affect the homelessness are quite interactive and complex in
nature. Family breakdown is one of the main aspect of the homelessness
in Australia (Flatau et al., 2013). In such of the scenario to end the
homelessness adequate supply of appropriate and affordable housing is
needed. This housing also need to be safe.
The key stakeholder of this project is homeless peoples of Australia. This
stakeholder group currently has no specific group of gender and age. It
has been assessed that the age of homeless peoples resides under 10
years and in the upper limit it has no specific age limit. The specific need
of these peoples is a sustainable and safe shelter for living. There are also
some specific homeless service is available in the suburb of Australia.
Students are becoming homeless in Australasia due to the study related
purposes as they need to stay near the university (Chamberlain, Johnson
& Robinson, 2014). With the students other peoples in Australia are at
the edge of risk regarding homelessness.
Homelessness is not a problem of a specific location. Instated of it the
homelessness is a major problem of the whole Australia.
1.2 Proposed Project 1 mark
Concerned with the above discussed problem this project aims to achieve a
permanent ending of homelessness problem in Australia. Also, the project will
develop sustainable housing throughout the Australia.
This current project is analyzed briefly and from the analysis is has been
understood that the project is feasible against the current project scenario.
The length of project is not very much long and the cost of the project is also
feasible.
A small prototype of the project will be executed to determine the efficiency of
the project. It will be executed on a small region of Australia considering a
small budget.
1.3 Strategic Alignment 1 mark

Strategic Direction Project alignment
(a) The CQUniversity Strategic
Intent 2017-2027
The current project is aligned with the CQ University strategic
intent 2017-2027 as the project follows the values of this
university. In this case the values are the engagement,
openness, a ‘can do’ approach, inclusiveness and the leadership.
(b) Unit learning outcomes This current project is aligned with the unit
learning outcome of Project Management
Practicum as this unit provides necessary skills
for rapid changing work environment. Problem
solving skills will be also evaluated through this
unit learning outcome which is needed for the
project.
2 Alternative (1 mark)
An alternative solution for the determined problem is that creating a
program which will help the homeless peoples to return to their home if
possible. In many cases it is not possible for all the peoples to return to their
home (Wood et al., 2014). In such of the cases a different society will be
developed for the homeless peoples where they can live together and can
support each other. This can be treated as an alternative solution to the above
approach of solution.

A threat to safety
(physical or
emotional)
Safety consideration for
this project is high.
Physical safety threat is a
big concern for this project.
There is a risk of physical
injury of the labours who
are working on the
construction site for the
construction of buildings
for the homeless peoples.
For mitigation of the
physical threats to the
project policy of Section
20 of the Safety, Health
and Welfare at Work Act
2005 (Lunau et al., 2014)
need to be followed.
Breach of legal or
contractual or
ethical
responsibility
(including
deficiencies in
financial or
property controls,
fraud or academic
misconduct)
Breach of contractual
ethical responsibility is
medium of the project.
Fraud can occur in the
project by the project
contractors as it can
happen that the building
supplier is providing some
low quality of martials
where the supplier was
paid for good quality of
materials.
This problem will managed
by evaluation of the
materials supplied by the
project supplier.
Unethical
engagement,
client
dissatisfaction
and/or
unfavorable
publicity
Unethical engagement can
occur within the project
and the index is low in this
case. The labors of the
project might do some
unethical within the
workplace which can lead
to unethical engagement
but occurrence of this type
of incident is low in this
case.
This can be mitigated by
proper project monitoring
by the project manager
(Kerzner, 2017).
Most significant
threat to
achieving the
project objectives
and provide a
realistic mitigation
strategy to treat
the threat.
The most significant threat
in this project is project
overrun. The project will
make the project delayed
and the cost of the project
will increase gradually.
To mitigate the project
overrun threat the project
manager need to take
some active steps in the
project. Weekly evaluation
is required for mitigating
this type of project
overrun risk.
