1.1 Introduction
Leadership and management skills and styles are very important for every person in life
and especially when it comes to handle the operations inside an organization. In this case study a
full analysis of the applying candidates will be done to find out the best fitted person for the
position of new Senior Director in Wonder Product who can be able to manage and direct the
operations of their new product Energy Bars and also advertise the product including new
strategies. Strong leadership and management skills are very much needed in the candidate who
can be able to smoothly run the business and help to improve he growth of the new product into
the market. Three new candidates have applied for the position and full analysis will be done and
then according to their experience and skill, the right person will be chooses who can fit into
different criteria.
1.2 Management and leadership skills/style
For Nancy Drew
Nancy has a practical experience of working in the food industry for 20 years. Nancy
have worked into a mid-sized vegetarian food company known as Star Lite Foods. Nancy has a
leadership quality for over 3 years because she has been the Vice president in a company for the
new product design. Her management style is to delegate authority so that employees can freely
work and bring innovation into the product. As a leader she used to keep a routine check and
credits her success to the employees for motivation. Nancy also used the new trend, social media
channels to improve the quality of information. She also suggested to shift their new business
plan from energy bar to some natural product which will be helpful for the local vendors. Her
management style is innovative because she encourages people around her (Northouse, 2014).

For Dane Evers
Dane has a 12 years of practical experience in food industry. Dane likes to work with
skilled, well-educated and experienced workers. Dane’s leadership skill states that he likes to
involve his employees into major as well as minor discussions because they are also important
part of the organization. Dane always keeps himself updated with the market trend and the
operations of each department in the organization. Dane is very particular about meeting
deadlines. Dane has a confidence regarding his management skills and leadership skills for
managing a new division and flourish it through the competitions in the market (Mujtaba, 2013).
For Joe Johnson
Joe is very new to the Wonder Products but started his job with a senior post in Wonder
Products as Deputy Executive Director. Joe is highly educated and holds high educational
degrees in Chemical engineering. However, he manages the department to produce more human
and environment friendly product. Joe has a 12 year practical experience in managing employees
perfectly. Joe has a great leadership skill for communicating more with the workers so that he
can motivate them and directly communicate any of the changes in operations. Most important
factor for Joe is to improve skills of his workers. Perfect leadership skill of Joe states that he
delegates the power to some of his employees so that they can introduce more innovation into the
business and motivate the further. However, Joe does not have marketing skills but his
confidence over his employees and desire to learn the marketing skills are amazing (Kirsten,
2013).

1.3 Candidate recommendation
The need of Wonder product’s new Senior Director should possess the perfect skills on
management and leadership which will help the company to introduce an all-natural product to
control blood sugar level of the consumers. Good marketing skills are also important to market
the product in the right place and among the right targeted audiences.
As per the need of the job position, Dane Evers would be the perfect fit. The new division
of Wonder Product for the new Energy Bar needs someone with a practical experience in the
food industry. Dane started his own business 12 years back and with his amazing management
and leadership skills he was able to reach the success. Dane’s experience in food industry will
the company to bring some innovative ideas to involve in the product so that it can gain a first
mover advantage in the market. Dane likes to get involved with the employees which helps the
employees to stay motivated and many vital information would be passed to the employees
without any filtrations (Jain & Anjuman, 2013). Employees can gain some extra skills and they
can possibly be more responsible when they will be delegated with some authority to bring
innovations into the product. Dane is very particular about the deadlines which will help him to
strategies some policies regarding the daily target and manage the labor force very smartly. Dane
has a very limited experience in marketing but it can be noted that he used to market his products
applying strategies hence, this marketing skill can be utilized to market the new product with an
innovative touch. Dane always notices the market trend and different operating departments
under him which can help the organization to stay updated and bring in required changes. His
confidence is the best thing which a Senior Director should possess while managing and leading
a new division for launching a new product into the market (Bolanle, 2013).

1.4 Conclusion
After analyzing each of the candidate’s interview and the skills required for the job
position, it can be clearly stated that all the candidates were very experienced and very much
popular among their field. Each of them had wonderful management and leadership skills which
will be beneficial for the new division to run. Among the three candidates, Dane Evers was a
best fit for the job position because he has great confidence over his management and leadership
skills to run a new division for a new product. Another fact to notice that Wonder Product
already promised Dane for providing a senior post in their organization when they were
acquiring the business of Dane Evers. Hence, this will also improve the reputation of Wonder
Product in market as they keep their promises.
