INTRODUCTION
Buildings is defined as the structure set up by architecture using various types of
materials for many purposes. It mainly includes walls, floors, roofs, drainage, chimneys,
balconies ad many other things which comforts the person living there or comforts doing their
work (Types of buildings as categorised by government and how infrastructure development can
shape India’s future, 2020). There are different types of buildings constructed like residential,
educational, institutional, assembly, business, mercantile, industrial, storage, wholesale, mixed
land use, hazardous, detached, semi-detached, multi story, high-rise, slums, unsafe, special,
multi-level and car parking. Defects in the buildings are defined as the spoiling wall or floors or
anything which affects the normal living of a person or look of a building. Types of defects
includes non-structural cracks, spalling of concrete, structural cracks, defective external wall
finishes and many more unusual defects. The following report includes discussions which are
made on the information of types of property buildings and it's defects. Moreover,
recommending the solutions of identified causes and problems.
