In today's era, need of communication is increasing with time. People have to
connect with each other for the purposes like they have business purpose, social
purpose etc. So all it needs communication. Communication is about to convey the
information from one person to other. People should be aware of what they pass
towards, because wrong interpretation of the message lead to confusion and many
times in losses.
So I personally think, proper communication is needed everywhere. I need to
reflect my own communication skills as I was working in a company, in which I was
assigned to handle a task, and in order to complete the task I was chosen to be a team
leader for that project. As I was leader, so I have to distribute the working
responsibilities in the team, I have communicated with my colleagues a lot either in
terms to make them understand the tasks. Generously I had maintained clarity,
completeness in my instructions. So it needs effective communication skills like clarity,
conciseness, courtesy, completeness, active listening, feedback, developing trust,
writing skills, etc. It impacts effectively your communication (Babatunde, and El-Gohary,
2018).
Some of my colleagues were hesitated to talk as they were new, I made them
comfortable, and consider their views about the work and their suggestions. So my
colleagues listened me carefully, they ask their confusions, and receives the correct
orders from me, its just because of good communication skills as I gave clear
instructions. All this happened because of proper handling of situation with perfect
communication (Golaghaie, and et.al., 2019). As I was doing my work and taking
reports from my colleagues about the progress of the work they give me in written so it
helps me to understand it better, at this time taking feedback report skills helps me a lot.
I was feeling that if anybody would not cooperate, the task will not be completed
by time. I got impatient, so my non-verbal skill is not good and I raised my tone of voice,
I started shouting on them. I felt bad about that behaviour. But now I feel good that I
created a balance between the team members because of being empathetic skill in me
which helped me. Also, I apologized to my colleagues for misbehaviour. I faced some
problems due to not listening actively, as I skip some instruction given to me, I convey

issues. So I analysed that I can do better than this, I should talk to others nicely and
soft-spoken and secondly I need to be active in listening from others. As it troubled me
a lot. Whenever there was doubtful situation, employees didn't come to me directly and
it leads to be in big issue. As I was being very high towards the team in order to
complete the task on time it leads to feel uncomfortable for me, they talk on my back
about me. But as I was particular about my work they trust me a lot. So I understand
now the politeness in conversation is very necessary (Tran, 2017). These
communication skills like active listening, my high tone have to be improved. If I can get
a chance to alter the situation I would like to be nice to them and listen from managers
properly. And again it would be happened like if I have to handle any project in a team I
will definitely listen to my colleagues and behave nicely with them. If I need to
communicate with the people in company I will guide them with clarity, completeness,
and also in written form. Also, I will apply my improved communication skill along with
developed skills.
The scenario I discussed above helps me to improve my communication skills in
some aspects. This situation lead me to self assessment and I changed my behaviour
of talking and listening to people carefully. I respect others feeling, they should not get
hurt with my words. I started caring the people. In professionals communication skills
are must, like I have to be more polite, my writing skills should be good, I should be
active listener, I have to take feedbacks, being empathetic. It increases the performance
in terms of works, like I am good at making presentation but I can't speak in public, this
lacking of communication skill is hamper your performance. So it needs to develop and
improved. Also in situation like I have to handle some clients, but I am not good to
clarify me presentation, the client don't understand my plan, it will hamper my deal. All it
needs good speaking skills with clarity and completeness.
