INTRODUCTION
Sustainability is one of the most essential concept which should be considered by mots of
the business. It will help the business to conduct their business in ethical manner which will
benefit the environment and social society (Lennox, Maher and Reed, 2018). In context of
construction company, they are adopting various sustainable activities to reduce their carbon
emissions while reaching at the aim of their projects. Reflection le4arning will help to analyse
the self knowledge for me to identify what I have learned through my experience on the topic of
sustainability in construction industry. The following report covers reflection of learning and
development process for the chosen topic, the ways in which the following learning will be used
in my future professional growth, feelings about presenting information to peer and a self
personal development plan which focuses on my academic skills which I need to improve for my
betterment.

A reflection on learning and development process of chosen construction management topic
From the module I have learned that sustainability is one of the most important factor
which should be considered in almost every kind of business. It helps to develop the brand
image of an company as well as helps to save cost effectively by focusing on waste management.
I have learned that a construction company can maintain their sustainability activities
appropriately by various ways like using advance technological tools and machines to reduce
their carbon emissions at their construction area, using sustainable material for making buildings
or any other project for the development of infrastructure. I get to know various idea for adopting
sustainable strategies for my future business of construction. I am interested in construction
business and it is essential for this industry to maintain sustainability measures while working.
There are few laws and regulations related to corporate social responsibility which is essential
for companies to follow (Zare and et. al., 2020). Hence, I am developing my knowledge and
skills to understand the importance of sustainability for the development of company.
Consider how the learning is going to be of use to you in your future studies and development
plans
The learning about sustainability will me to start my professional career ethically and
legally by following all laws and regulations effectively (Ayers, Bryant and Missimer, 2020). I

need to improve my learning style effectively for my better professional career. I am able to
learn things through visual and auditory learning method which include to learn the concepts
through seeing the pictures and videos and hearing the audio. I am unable to make notes of my
learnings which is essential for my academic career as well as professional career. I must work
harder to develop my new learning style which is reading and writing style which include to read
and observe the things and make notes. This can also help me in developing my professional
career because I have planned to develop my professional career in construction industry. Hence,
it is essential for me to develop this writing skill well because employees in construction industry
have to prepare maps of their project through software and work accordingly. Secondly, I
required to develop my analytical and innovative skills well for developing my career in
construction industry. I have decided to communicate more with people and analyse how they
make innovative plans and decisions in their day to day life. This will further help me to develop
my observation skill and practical knowledge.
A reflection upon completion of the presentation including your feelings about presenting
information to peers
While completing the presentation I had faced various opportunities and challenges. I
have completed this project within a group and I have gained a good experience regarding this
project. While working in a team I make sure that all tasks are assigned according to the
expertise of my team mates. When I present my information to my peers I get little bit nervous
due to my weak confidence in front of more than 6-7 people. During this presentation I have to
present my topic in front of whole class which is tough for me. All information is collected by
me and my team mates appropriately and we all discussed about the information which is
gathered to share with each other. This will help me to gain appropriate knowledge about the
topic. Hence, if any one of my peer will ask question from my chosen topic then I am able to
answer them due to my appropriate knowledge upon the topic which I have selected. Once I start
presenting the information, I have started gaining confidence to face my class mates. I have
started with low confidence but the way I am going far in explaining my presentation and work I
have noticed that my confidence level is also getting increased. At the time of presenting my
presentation I make sure that I will gain knowledge about interest area of audience to which I am
going to present my topic because it is essential for me to convey my message to those students
more who are interested in my topic. Their positive response will help me to represent my topic

in front of them. I convey the messages in easy language so that peers will understand the
concept quicker.
Personal development plan to improve weak skills
Personal development plan helps to target weak skills and convert them into
strengthening skills of an individual by converting some effective strategies into actions (Minhas
and et. al., 2020). PDP will also help the individual to analyse the time which is required to
convert weak skills into strong skills. It is essential to develop a goal for PDP which will help in
analysing a clear vision for what a person want to achieve and where it he/she is standing right
now. It is essential for me to first analyse my weak skills which is required to develop for my
better personal and professional life. For this I can communicate to my teachers, parents and
friends who interact with me on regular basis and who knows my skills and talents well. I will
ask them about their opinion related to my weak skills and then analyse which skill is more
important to improve first than others. Hence, I also need to make a priority of my weak skills
and analyse the actions and strategies to work upon my analysed weak skills. Another important
step is to analyse the actions required to develop weak skills (Kivimäki and Meriluoto, 2018). I
will again communicate with my teachers to ask how I can improve few of my weak skills.
Setting time for each skill is also important to complete the set target within a appropriate time
limit. It is also essential for me to review my PDP plan or regular basis. A example of my PDP

From the above information it is concluded that reflective report will help an individual
to learn from their personal experience and knowledge. Here,an individual analyse the area
where he/she is lacking behind to make effective strategies for future growth. It is a good habit to
write the personal experience of any learning style. Personal development plan will help the
individual to analyse their weak skills and make effective action plans to convert those weak
skills into strong skills.
