INTRODUCTIONDementia is a disease that has direct impact on working of brain. This diseaseis commonly as Alzheimer’s disease. This is a long term disease that affectsthinking capacity of individuals. This brain disorder affects daily functioning of anindividual. The person suffering from this disease faces difficulty in understandinglanguage. Individual becomes emotionally weak and this decreases self-esteem andmakes them emotionally weak (Gene-Cos, 2006). Dementia diagnosis affect usualfunctioning of individual. Basic reason behind this disease is ageing. there is cure ofthis disease. It is mental disorder where brain stop functioning. Individual can facevarious problems like short term memory loss.People suffering from this disease suffers gradual changes in their thinkingskills. Doctor help in evaluating the symptoms and providing them with professionaltreatment. Dementia can cause damage to brain cells. In this situation, brain failsto communicate information to different parts of body. Brain is responsible fordifferent functions like memory, judgement, etc. if a particular cell get damagebrain will stop functioning properly. Alzhemeria is a disease circulates level ofprotein inside and outside of the brain. Changes in circulation can lead to varioustypes of problems like depression, medication effect, excess use of alcohol, vitamindeficiency. There is no specific test that helps in identifying dementia. Further thisproject discuss about mental health legislation and policy, the role of both statutoryand non-statutory agencies in mental health care, the role of structured carepathwaysin mental health care and service delivery and policy and legislationinfluencing mental health service provision. MAIN BODYMental health legislation Mental Health Act 1983 is very fast, it consists of more than 100 parts whichare known as sections. This section suggest that people suffering this diseaseshould be admitted to hospital. It is important to take care of people suffering fromdementia because people are not able to perform their normal routine work. Oncethey are admitted to hospital they are given proper care (Marmot and Grady, M.,2010). People generally do not like to get admitted in hospital. This act provides1

right to people suffering from mental illness. This act encourages participation ofmentally disabled people in society inclusion plans. Disability does not mean that individual has to put end to their life. This actfocuses on capability of individual to perform specific task. People suffering fromthis disease can enjoy their life in way they want to. National law policies suggestthat society should behave friendly with people suffering from dementia. MentalCare Health Act defines obligation of health care service provider. This section wasimplemented when all other alternatives of supporting mentally disabled peoplefailed. This is act play major role in protecting rights of mental disabled people.Patient suffering from Dementia are given special health care services, so that theyfeel safe and secured. Health care service providers look after the needs andrequirement of patient. Due to loss of their thinking capacity people behaveinappropriately. Admitting people suffering from dementia to hospital, to provide them withgood care and better environment. they will be properly assessed and treated bythe doctors. Two doctors should agree that people is suffering from dementia. Ifpatient agree to get admitted to hospital in their own will, this section will not applyon this situation (Wang, P.S. and Kessler, R.C., 2005). According to Mental Health CareAct patients are not allowed to leave hospital without close examination. Hospitalstaff are suggested to help patient in best possible way. This section last formaximum 28 days. If situation is uncontrollable this section last for six months. Section 117 suggest to deliver quality care services from home. This legaladvice given by the people of council. Doctors of hospital suggest that peoplesuffering from dementia need guardian order or support. Mental Health Act allowsindividual to stay with patient and provide them with guardian support andsuggestion. Guardians are the person who always take care best care of patient.Guardians are allowed take important decisions related to medical treatment ofservice user. They cannot force patient to something. Guardians focuses onmaintaining good relationship with person suffering from dementia. They areresponsible for all important decisions related finance and money. Doctors can only discharge patient after observing and examining healthcondition of patient. If family members of patient are not satisfied with the decisionof doctor.
