LO 1
1.1 Importance of continuously improving own knowledge and practice and that of the
team
It is very essential in my opinion to develop and improve knowledge to team and health
caretaker to increase quality of services to patients (Tan and Chou, 2018). I think management
of all the care taker in the health care industry with effective training will provide them with
better knowledge to handle to activities and decrease their dependency on their seniors. I also
think it is very essential for me to develop effective workforce training and development
planning by analysing all potential of the workforce of my organization. This will help me to
facilitate safety and security of employee and patients with better understanding to make
decision effectively. Continuous improvement helped me to gained better vision to become
effective in performing all the activities and fulfil my responsibility as a care manager in health
care organization. As a management member it is my duty to be energetic and alert to make
decisions to support staff and provide them with better solutions to increase their performance
improve service quality for patients effectively. I also have to influence my staff to motivate
them in accepting change in the organization and accept training and development and this can
onl be possible when I am increasing my knowledge continuously. due to rapid change in
corporate structure and needs and wants of population the value of work changes and impact
the performance of staff negatively. I need to analyse effective process for developing quality
learning cycle in which I enjoy and also not feel pressurized. By learning in fun way I can also
stabilize my mental status to make effective decision to develop and train my staff in health
care organization.
1.2 Importance of reflective practice in improving performance and the use of models to
support the reflective practitioner
I have understood that reflective learning increases my knowledge from my own experiences to
make effective decisions to increase quality of services in my organization effectively (Egan,
Maidment and Connolly, 2018). By using Kolb's reflective learning cycle I gained information
that it helps to develop skills and knowledge with experimental learning whereas Gibbs is a six
stage model which helps to increase the insight and personal development by repeating the
same task effectively. From the learning I understood that there is a positive relationship
between professional and responsible as care manager to provide effective services to my

patients and treat them with full liability. I faced many issues while performing reflective
learning due to lack of proper skills and information. Reflective practice provide effective
understanding about all the factors which have been experienced by me to develop informed
learning and attain potential to manage staff in heath care organization. It helps me to
understand what I feel while performing the task and analyse them according to the resources I
used to determine my performance in the previous task and develop effective strategies to
increase my performance. Reflective learning also helped me to increase the efficiency to
develop personal and professional development plan according to activities performed to
increase required skills of me and my team effectively. Innovative thinking is encouraged in
this reflective practice to become more successful. I identified that I am ineffective in some of
the leadership skills and I need to work in those skills to evolve better care manager.
1.3 Mechanisms and resources that support learning and development in adult care
settings
I think it is very essential for me to ascertain the resources of training employees in adult care
setting to provide better care services to old people. It is the second childhood which needs to
be nurtured very patiently (Lourenço and Mano, 2017). I had to analyse the financial sources
from internal and external environment which help to increase the professional development
process effectively. By using digital tools and books and other techniques to develop better
communication between professional ad service users. With the help of coaching and e-learning
it will help care takers to increase their efficiency to provide effective services to Dyslexia
patients and reduce language barriers . There are many resources which can be used to increase
the learning of myself and my staff. As there are many cases in the health care industry about
adult abuse by care takers which impacted the quality and goodwill of all the organization.
Digital technology and other resources like awareness campaigns of for care takers ad senior
citizens will help to increase their knowledge about all the process to protect themselves and
increase the ethical and moral value to reduce these types of incidents positively. There are
many factors which helps the staff to gain better insight about like peer shadowing in which
when any staff member is ethically and morally right and also have the ability to influence
other this will increase every employee's ability become more effective. This help to make
increase the performance of health care organization and create healthy work environment
effectively.

1.4 Technology used in supporting learning activities
Increase the digital technology has made it very easy to access to technologies which helps to
increase my potential to develop effective learning process for care takers in the organization.
Increase the strong network of internet has also provided effective base for professional to
increase the learning process from different tools like mobile, computer which are connected to
internet. Digital technology supports me to communicate with care takers when they perform
task in organization. By the technology I can easy to improve their ICT skills which is requires
for future. For example computer is digital software which is not only use in to save data and
rearing document but also improves technical skills. Apart from this, it supports care taker to
directly communicate with me by the help of mobile about their task dealing issues. Health care
industry requires high skilled care takers who can give technical services as per the
requirements (Milne and et.al., 2018). Electronic communication devices i.e. cellphones,
social networking websites and emails assist care takers to communicate with each other and
resolve their queries. I used projector to give online classes so that they observe and learn how
to perform at workplace during hostile condition. This will help them to increase their
efficiency to develop effective skills and provide them with better knowledge of health care
industry (Fraser and Horrell, 2018). I improve my ICT skills to offer high quality learning
classes from the digital technology. Development of audio visual conferencing helped to
increase the experience of professional to make effective decision and helped me to increase
their job satisfaction.
1.5 Potential barriers and constraints in relation to professional development in adult
care.
While planning and developing learning programs I analysed many constraints which reduces
my efficiency in providing better information and skills to professionals effectively. Lack of
financial resources in training activities impacted the quality of performance. I had to
understand the return of investment aspects to design effective training strategies to reduce cost
and improve potential of care takers in organization effectively (Mazzariol and et.al., 2019). I
analysed that due to lack of proper time management skills of professionals which reduced the
efficiency of my training programs effectively. I analysed most of the employees unable to
perform well due to lack of training session. Due to lack of appraisal system unable to motivate

care takers which impacted on their performance within workplace. I analysed that organization
didn't have proper resources as result couldn't offer learning session per months. Apart from
this limited resources causes I couldn't improve my skills. Lack of resources and appraisal
system led shortage of staff within workplace that directly impacted organization financial
performance. And it impacted retention power of the organization to increase employee
turnover rapidly. I understood that language barriers and lack of IT skills reduced the quality of
my organization to provide quality services to its patients effectively.
1.6 Factors to consider when selecting and commissioning activities for keeping
knowledge and practice up to date
There are various factors which had impacted me and my subordinates in making decision in
selecting commission activities and improving the quality of services of health care
organization effectively (Markman and Cowley, 2019). Due to change many content on Internet
I had lost my focus to learn and gain more knowledge effectively. It is very essential for me to
understand all the facilities to make every employee more potential effectively. Due to conflicts
in the workplace it had also impacted my self learning process and reduced my efficiency to
become more effective. I was also unable to develop effective understanding about all the skill
due to lack of proper ability to draft a personal development plan.

2.1 Principles and scope of professional supervision
I have analysed that supervision in adult care is very essential as the adults with age of more
than 75 is considered as second child and need to be taken care of effectively. There were many
adults which have mental diseases and can not take care of themselves and decide what to do.
With the help of supervision of adults if health care I can measure their health performance to
maintain record of every person separately (Valentino, LeBlanc and Sellers, 2016). I have the
role to guide all the employees in the health care and do research to increase the efficiency to
organization to provide effective services to patients and improve skills and knowledge of care
takers. I am also responsible to determine and set effective financial budgets which helps me to
develop effective understanding of all the factor to improve decision-making.

2.2 Theories and models of professional supervision and developing policies
I have learned different types of management theories which helped me to gain effective
understanding of all the behavioural patterns of employees in increasing the quality of health
care practice. I have also understood different motivation theories which helps me to increase
satisfaction of patients and job satisfaction of care takers to increase retention power of
employees effectively. Cognitive behavioural helped me to understand nature of patients to
increase evidence based practices and gain higher efficiency in treatment effectively. By
adopting integrated developmental model it helped me to increase the supervision techniques to
provide better guidance to my professionals to maintain the workplace efficiency and gain high
benefits of the health care effectively. This model helps to understand the progress of
development of professionals to increase quality of services to increase satisfaction level of
patients. With the implementation of system approach in health care It helped me to increase
the relationship between the supervisee to gain better objectives and increase market value of
the health care effectively.
2.3 Ways in which legislation, codes of practice and agreed ways of working inform
supervision
I have learned that it is very essential to understand the legal aspect of health care to maintain
the ethical activities and increase satisfaction of patients effectively (Kairuz and et.al., 2016).
By understanding the care act 2014 and ethical code of conduct act of 2015 helped to manage
employees and provide all the information about legal factors which can impact the careers of
care takers. This has helped me to focus in employee certification according to CQC regulations
to increase performance of adult care centres.
2.4 Impacts of research findings, critical reviews and enquiries and how these can be used
within professional supervision
There are many factors which helps the health care sector to develop effective understanding
supervising their professionals and motivate them effectively. I have researched that due to
increase in the cases of different types of abuses it is very essential for care manager to
supervise the care activities for adults and specially adult women to provide the protection from

all the professional in the organization. By increasing the evidence based practice and
increasing training and development of employees will reduce the number of abuses and help
health care to make effective progress effectively.
2.5 Uses of professional supervision in performance management
It helps me to develop effective confidence and effective skills and knowledge in health care
professional and also gain effective understanding about all the procedures to gain higher
productivity of my organization (Avortri, Nabukalu and Nabyonga-Orem, 2019). Professional
supervision system also helped care manager to focus on every employee to increase
development of interpersonal skills effectively. This has helped me to understand that the
existing system had also impacted the behaviours and shared values of employees to gain
higher productivity effectively.
2.6 Factors which can result in a power imbalance in professional supervision and how to
address them
Power imbalance in health care setting had made me understand that it can reduce the
efficiency of all the employees to perform their activities and motivate their patients to increase
quality of services. Due to lack of high education which can increase disputes in operation of
health care and adult care activities and reduce the efficiency of professional supervisors
(Zepeda, 2016). As I will understand all the situation and try to focus on all the knowledge I
have gain to solve the issue with stable thinking process to increase the address all the issues.

3.1 Establish agreement with supervise in key areas
Being a care manager I plan all my operations in a suitable action plan. Based on the
plan I implement all actions. Drafting a action plan supports me in doing all key functions of
care manager effectively (Cox, 2019). Time management is also a key aspect involve in
planning operations. I manage complete confidentiality while operating all functions. I keep all
information related to my clients in a system. I already established my work ethics, roles and
responsibilities. Being a care manager I am accountable for every action I undertake in order to
give consultancy to all customer's. I also sustain positive environment at the work place.

Establishing agreement is a key aspect involve in care manager service role. Being a care
manager I need to make decision in regard to the outsourcing services as some services get
outsourced as per the strategical partnership made between organisations. I need to over look at
all such partnerships and collaborations in order top improve the productivity of the services.
IN order to achieve the highest level of efficiency from operations it is crucial that all aspects of
the service must ensure the high level of customer satisfaction. I also take decisions in respect
to continuation of strategical partnership between the organisations in respect to services and
products. Organisation culture is also a crucial aspect of service continuation and strategical
agreement and partnerships formation. I also need to overlook at all aspects of organisation
structure and work culture while drafting any new partnership.
3.2 Range of information available and own insight
Supervision is also a crucial aspects of achieving work efficiency from operational
functions. Supervision involves controlling and measuring effectiveness of all work practices I
follow in order to conduct the care services (Garland-Baird and Fraser, 2018). Analysis of own
performance also play key role as it provide scope to improve my level of efficiency out of the
services. I also upgrade the level of services by installing the latest health care equipments that
enables me to improve the level of efficacy of my services. Competitive analysis also supports
me to improve my services in my occupation. Information is a crucial aspect involve in care
manager services. I need to collect and cater information to all respective stakeholders. Health
care is immensely depends on the information source as the credible sources must be use while
delivering any service related to health care as the sector consist the high risk of death of
patient. Being a care manager I carry the huge responsibility for go through all credible sources
and its authentication while analysing the credibility.
3.3 Constructive feedback to improve practices
Feedbacks also play crucial role in improving level of efficacy out of the operational
services. I take feedbacks from all my customers and the family members of such customers in
respect to effectiveness of services and also on the level of customer satisfaction. Taking
feedbacks guides me to improve my services and also to assess the level of customer
satisfaction out of my services and organisation environment (Ghosh, 2019). I also take regular

feedbacks from all the human resources of the organisation. While giving feedbacks about the
work culture and working environment I get brief about all the suitable changes in the structure
that can improve the work culture of the organisation. Feedbacks are the crucial aspect involve
in business development and growth. Feedbacks guide organisation to make suitable changes in
catering services so that level of customer satisfaction can be improved. Practices related to
taking feedbacks has been utilised for the very long period. Being a care manager its my duty to
make suitable changes so that customer needs can be better fulfil. As a result of work practice
related to taking feedbacks I could involve necessary changes in equipments and other aspects
that has improved the efficient of operations.
3.4 Supervise own development needs
Analysis of the development is an important aspects of the business and service
improvement. In order to improve the quality of services it is crucial to assess about own
development needs. In order to supervise own development needs I used critical analysis
strategies of all the work techniques I use and follow. Critical analysis about the resources I
utilise to cater my service guides me to make suitable developments in the services and
resources to cater more effective personal care services (Gilbert, Von Ah and Broome, 2017).
Health care is a service sector that is highly depends upon the quality of services which needs to
cater to customer's. All the development activities enables me tom improve my service quality
and ensure high customer satisfaction from my services. The process of supervising
development needs is a crucial process. Assessing own development needs creates major
growth opportunities for service sector organisation (Lavallee and et.al., 2016). IN order to
adders own development needs it is crucial to analyse about all the suitable development in the
sector. As a care manager its my responsibility to analyse all the suitable improvement in health
care. The process related to supervising own development needs has guided me to cater my
services more effectively. I also take control over implementing all the changes based on the
assessment of development needs.
3.5 Review and revise targets
Review and revise target is also a crucial aspects of my services. I always set my targets based
on the priorities. Setting up goals and targets enables me to cater my services effectively. Target

and goal setting motivate and drives my work actions. They also enable me to focus over all
objectives related to my services. Based on the critical analysis I upgrade my level of services
with the support of the latest equipments and based on that I modify my targets that I need to
achieve in exchange to all my efforts of being a professional. While catering my care services I
also assess my profitability and competitiveness by analysing my profitability share as compare
to other professionals. I revise all my target and objectives of business. Reviewing and revising
targets is also a crucial aspect of business growth. All policies and further strategies frame and
implemented based on the targets and aims of business. Targets are not associated with the
organisation objectives, but they are also associated with individuals employed in the
organisation. Being a care manager I also have my own targets related to business development
and profitability. I also needs to revise my targets based on the needs of the industry. I also
need to revise my targets based on the expectations of the organisation management (Gagnon
and et.al., 2016). Revising targets guides me to achieve all my responsibilities related to
business development and growth. Being an employee at managerial position is also need to
control and supervise at lower position in the organisation. I also need to supervise the targets
of all employee's at lowrer position. IN order to achieve over all objectives of business all
employee's needs to achieve the individual targets. I have to review and revise targets of other
employee's as well in the organisation.
3.6 Different methods of addressing challenges
Challenges is a part of professional life. Being a health care professional I face multiple
challenges that opposes me to cater my services effectively. I have such a personality and
positive mind set and attitude which enables me to deal with all the challenges effectively. I get
to face challenges like social challenges that becomes a part of my services. Being a health care
specialist I also carry the hectic schedule of my work. I need to deal with all my customers in
day and night. Due to 24 hours of my service I face hectic work schedule which also causes to
loss of energy for operating my functions (McColl-Kennedy And et.al., 2017). Due to such a
hectic work schedule I face many challenges. While facing challenges I could also come across
my skills and abilities like positive attitude, strong mind set, workaholic nature, communication
skills and other respective skills that has supported me through out of my journey as a
professional. Apart from all the above methods giving potential training to employee's of

organisation is also an effective approach in respect to dealing with all the challenges
associated with the organisation. Being a care manager I need to identify about all the emerging
needs and demands of the health care industry and in order to cope up with all the needs and
demands I need to frame potential training programs for all the human resources of the
organisation. Giving training and development effectively improves the potential of company's
employee's. Dealing with challenges play key role in managing all challenges attached with the
sector. Health care is among the crucial sector as it contribute in the healthcare of society and to
deal with challenges of the sector is a crucial aspect of my job position as a manager.
3.7 Supervision decisions
Being a care manager I need to supervise operations. In order to supervise all operations I take
many decisions that can support thorough out the journey of supervision. I take decisions like
audit of all records that can brief about all the crucial aspects of the service improvement. In
order to supervise the operations I also take control measures like expertise guidance over
supervision. Supervision is a crucial role as it emphasis over service quality and also over
process follow in order to cater the services.
3.8 Personal approaches to professional supervision
IN order to conduct supervision activity I also follow personal approaches of supervising
operations. I follow the approach of one to one supervision process. While operating one to one
supervision I ask questions from customers and different stakeholders involved in care services
about the experience and effectiveness of services (Moyo, 2019). This also provide scope to
analyse the quality of services in order to make suitable changes in service improvement.
Personal supervision enables personal involvement in supervision activity that also improve the
authenticity of supervision operation.

4.1 Performance management procedures and their issues
Performance management is the systematic procedures of arranging and supervising the group
of employee's performances instead of their goals. Organization performance management
system plays essential role because HR supervise individual’s performance. Management uses
various tools such as monitoring, rewarding, ranking scale and transparent work environment

etc. encourages staff to give high efforts in their performance
I use performance management system to determine performance issues in individual within
workplace (Profile, 2016). Issues are unable to coordinate with team member, getting
difficulties while task performing and lack of confidence. The main reason behind is that it is
not only help to identify issues but also leads desirable outcomes within workplace.
Performance management system completes within five steps such as
Planning: I organize a performance plan which is measurable, attainable, time bounding,
realistic and specific. The main goal of the performance plan to improve individual
performance. Before creating plan I communicate with care takers about goals and purpose of
the goals. Even I set several objectives and clearly defined each objective to care taker. Thus, I
create sets of collaborative plans between care takers and management. I create feedback panel
which supports me to gather feedback of overall department about care takers performance.
Thus, I prepare several formats for improving care takers performance within workplace.
Monitoring: I supervise employees’ performance where I analyse various employees unable to
perform well due to task complexity and lack of knowledge. I apply various technique to
monitor care takers performance. As I know care takers are adult and new as well so they
require high attention while performing task. I create a score balance sheet to monitor care
takers performance. In the balance sheet, I give grade to individual one on the basis of their task
achievement over the time. This is the best way to monitor employees performance without
concerning other department. Thus, I monitor care takers performance within workplace while
offering services to customers.
Developing: I conduct training session for employees so that they can improve their skills and
overcome their performance issues (Zepeda, 2016). I maintain discipline in individual about
their job responsibility so that they become more serious and act effectively. When I organize
training session for them, in that state I provide grievance facilities to them so that they can
write their issues. Even I take these grievances seriously which is written by individual relevant
their senior and trainer. In training and development classes I encourage care takers to give high
attendance and improves their performance. I train individual who occasionally finds
complexity while dealing with task at workplace. Even I support them to determine their

strength which can lead growth in their Carrier in the future. Most of the care takers who highly
skilled but doesn't know how to apply them at workplace helps them to give learning classes
where they learn to how to apply their skills and give high performance within company. To
make care takers multitasker organizes skill and development by me. The main goal of the
skills and development classes to improve list of their skills so that they can perform various
role in the absence of other employees in emergence case. Health care industry requires suck
kind care takers who is multitasker and can perform multiple role as per the situation. That's
why I conduct classes where care takers also get golden opportunity to improve their skills and
learns new tactic which makes them eligible to gain high incentives.
Rating performance: I take help of score balance sheet which helps me to analyse each
employee performance while task dealing. It is another step of performance management
system which I apply to measure each care taker performance in their working place. I give
score to individual on the basis of their task achievement (Barkow and Takahashi, 2017). For
example, several employees who completes large number of task before time deadline along
with high quality services enlists their name along with scores. I give rating to individual on the
basis of their scores which they achieve while working within workplace.
Rewarding: I offer reward to individual who give high performance that motivates them to
work harder. I give rewards on the basis of rating who is actually performed appreciable and
deserve to take reward. It is last stage of performance management process which inspires care
takers to give loyal performance at workplace and become part of rewards. This reward strategy
supports me to boost employee for giving quality care services in health care industry.
The main reason to conduct performance management system is that individual's unable to
comply with other employee due to lack of knowledge and lack of support of their team
members (Dempsey, 2016). Due to insufficiency they can't perform well, so I organize
performance management system which helps those employees to perform well. Initially I have
to face several issues while conducting performance system because most of the employee was
new joiners and rest existing so have to face issue to give such kind training classes which
meets each employee objectives.
Thus, I resolve individual performance issues and motivates them give high quality services.

4.2 Meeting current legislative and regulatory requirement
Disciplinary procedure helps organization to determine performing unsatisfactory factor while
grievance procedure deals with group of employee's issues and complaints. I conduct both
procedures for employee's so that they can complain about their issues (Wood, Hocking and
Temple-Smith, 2016). Grievance procedure is conducted by me to deal with various issues of
care takers such as salary issues, work pressure issues. I take these grievances seriously and
resolve them asap so that they become loyal (Harper and et.al., 2019). I use disciplinary
procedure supports me to analyse that which factor act as barrier or constraint for care takers
which directly gives impact on their performance. It is not effective procedures because it is
time consuming. To improve procedure can set deadline for each policy and procedures to be
acknowledge which is the best strategy tom improve disciplinary procedures and grievance
policy.
4.3 Possible outcomes in disciplinary cases
I upgrade policies and legislation so that I can comply with current policies. Changes in policies
improves care services of individual as well team management services. It gives impact in both
internally and externally as well future management of services delivery. For example, It
supports to give impact on staff services because they become more responsible for their duties
and improves their working performance within workplace. Whatever policies applies by me to
enhance quality of services gets desirables outcomes for example care services are improved. I
introduce various policies like employment policies so that individual keep power, rights and
duties within workplace and feel values for themself within workplace (Hintze and LaFever,
2017). To improves employee’s performance so that they can comply in future as well
introduces skill and development management. I will play important role in skill and
development management such as I conduct classes for them per quarter month that
automatically improves their performance.
