LO 4
P 6 Job interview
There are some basic questions which are asked by the recruiters of Marriott while conducting
the process of interview.
What do you know about our company?
I applied for the position of Hotel Supervisor and I came prepared. It was because of the
research that I was able to answer the questions successfully. This is necessary because company
expects someone who knows the necessary details about their whereabouts and the quality of
service they offer to their customers. Other than this they also expect that the applicant have
knowledge of the culture used in the company. Also it is important to ensure that strategies used
for promotion are looked (Morgan, 2017).
Why do you want to work for us or why should we hire you?
In order to answer this question I showed all of my strength, interest and qualities among
this area so that the interviewer gets impressed and the chances of selection for me are more. It is
also necessary to highlight the positive points about the company such as their values, goals and
strengths and align the objectives with the goals of the company (Roulston, Cleak and
Vreugdenhil, 2018).
What challenges do you expect to face in the hospitality industry?
In this stage companies such as Marriott makes an attempt to test the knowledge of the
applicant. This way they check the level of awareness of the applicant. It is up to the applicant to
throw some confident and respond easily so that this way they will be able to assess the passion
of the candidate. There are many questions included in this one single question and that is
awareness regarding trends of the sector, weak points and strength that can help or affect the
company. If these questions are answered correctly then they will be considered as strategic
oriented to the company.
What are your career goals in the sector of hospitality?
Document Page
With this question companies such as Marriott seeks the ambition of the candidate. This
is why I presented myself as hard working and ambitious, skills of management are considered
as a key factor. They start by focusing on the objectives and made an action plan for that goals.
Also by this question energy of the candidate is assessed so that professionalism in the sector of
hospitality can be judged (Zhao and Zhang, 2017).
P 7 Key strength and weakness of an applied interview process
Strength-
In order to highlight the strength I knew that I have to be specific. During the process of
interview the skills and strength mentioned were knowledge based skills which are gained from
the period of education and the level of experience gained with time and practice. For instance
skills such as training, degrees, computer, training and languages. Other than this there are
transferable skills which is taken to one job to another such as skills of problem solving,
planning and communication etc. the last skill that was highlighted was personal traits such as
qualities that are unique such as flexible, hard working, formal, expressive etc. it is necessary
that strength highlighted or mentioned in the interview must be matched on the basis of what the
company is expecting otherwise it won’t matter (Beddoe, 2017).
Weakness-
The weakness that was mentioned in the interview was admitting to please everyone, not
having the knowledge of the software that has launched recently. In order to overcome these
measures focus was on strengths so that more of positive attributes are assessed and negative
aspects can stay away from the light. Also it is necessary that not too much of qualities is shown
off it must be up to the level where it looks realistic and believable.
It is necessary that responses that are given at the time of interview are scripted so that chances
of getting the job will be more. Experience of the last job needs to be shared and the role played
for the specific position in the company. Also it is necessary that they highlight the weakness to
and the area where they believe that improvement is required so that they can make the
discussion realistic and in order (Cyrino, 2016).

CONCLUSION
From the above studies it has been concluded that theories of learning and approach needs to be
assessed so that it can be linked with the training and development of the company so that it can
help the employees of the company make their performance better. Other than this report covers
the aspects where strengths and weakness and area of improvement is highlighted of an
individual through the plan of professional development and the process of interview. Both of
these helps companies such as Marriott to select the best and suitable candidate for the job. It is
necessary that they undertake all the tests so that they can be judged on the basis of their
knowledge, experience and other areas which helps the company to improve their performance
and achieve their objectives. This report also highlights the aspect where the expectations of the
company is assessed that states that what skills and qualities are required in the employees.
Company has a ongoing professional development plan for their stakeholders which helps them
to keep the stakeholders such as clients, government and investors satisfied so that they are able
to maintain and sustain their operations and achieve growth in the market.
