Academic plagiarism is the repetition of more than four
words from a printed source without using any of the
quotation mark. In order to maintain academic integrity
it is very important to maintain it. It is related to
professionalism in business environment because results
accurate and transparent completion of work. Present
discussion is based upon analysis of plagiarism and
relevancy of academic integrity to professionalism in
business environment.
Relevancy of academic integrity with professionalism in
business environment
Academic integrity could be defined as commitment of
individuals to demonstrate honest and ethical behaviour in
their academic writing. It is the honesty which is required in
studies so that work of others which is used for completing
own work could be acknowledged. If a person is focused
with it then it demonstrates that others can trust that
individual. Apart from this, it is also very important to
maintain it as it provides value to degree. It is relevant to
professionalism in a business environment. All the students
who have higher integrity in their academic projects stands a
better chance for employer society. It can also offer self
confidence to the individuals which will help them to work
effectively and maintain professionalism. All the students
who are working on college projects needs to make sure that
they are maintaining academic integrity as it will develop
and demonstrate their honesty which will facilitate them to
work in an entity. If academic integrity will not be
maintained in businesses then it may result in different
consequences for the enterprise. It is very important for the
individuals to make sure that they are maintaining it while
working within the companies. Some of the challenges
which may take place because of lack of it are legal actions
against the individuals which will result in bad image of
them in front of others (Fatemi and Saito, 2019).
Plagiarism could be described as representation of
someone else's matter as own idea in the projects and
reports without consent of them as well as
acknowledgement. All the materials that are published
online are considered under plagiarism. There are
various types of plagiarisms and these are direct, self,
mosaic and accidental etc. When an individual
transcript someone else's work word to word without
any attribution then it will be known as direct
plagiarism. If a student will be submitting own previous
work then it will a self-plagiarism.
When an individual will be using matter from a source
without any quotation mark or write synonyms for
language of author by keeping same structure and
meaning then it will be known as mosaic plagiarism. It
could be intentional or unintentional and also called patch
working which will be punishable and considered as
dishonest. If someone is working and neglecting to cite
the sources then it will called accidental plagiarism
(Cavaliere, 2020).
For all the students it is very important to make sure that
they are avoiding plagiarism in writing as it may result in
academic misconduct. Main relevancy of plagiarism with
academic writing is that it demonstrates that someone is
pretending that the matter which is written by them is
their own but actually it belongs to other person. Internet

that are available for free are used by individuals for
