1PROFESSIONAL SOCIAL WORK PRACTICE
Introduction
The purpose of the following paper is to demonstrate the various ways of the social work
practice within the spheres of Australia. The moral and ethics have a very important place when
it comes to the matter of serving the society. In this paper I will be discussing about the various
ways in which the morality and ethics can be displayed. The personal and professional values are
very significant in this discourse as well. It is because the individuals must be able to display
their ethics when they undertake all types of works (Hepworth et al., 2016). I believe that I have
to be honest, moral and ethical when I will be handling the works whenever I work for an
organization or in my personal lives.
Personal values and impact on social work
Before beginning this section, I must say that I have been working in the social work
organization for a long time now. I have always focused on maintaining the ethics and morality
within my professional field and my personal life as well. I have seen many people in distress
whenever I have gone to serve the society. I have been trained by my seniors about maintaining
some principles that would have to be very much beneficial in terms of doing those works
indeed. As per the critics I can say that the social workers must conform to the needs of the
distressed in all the ways. I have to maintain the strong human relationships as well. I have to
make the decisions in a way so the social justice could be served. The experts have said in this
regard that the individual dignity will have to be maintained in the most proper ways (Bullis,
2013).
The people will have to be very much passionate about doing well to the society and the
distressed people. This is the time when I have to maintain the ethics and get over all the past

bitter incidents with some people. I have learned that I might have to help my bitter enemies as
well. I have to work very hard so I can cater for the social justice in all the ways. The
compassion will always have to be there as well. I have learned about many things in my training
and I have also implemented them for the betterment of the society as well. I have developed
some of the personal values that would be beneficial for my work as well. My first priority
always would be to put my service for the public above all my self-interests. I know I will
always have to set my ethical standards in my professional field of work. These things will be
extremely essential for me.
I have to use my skills and knowledge for catering to the benefits of the society. These
things would be highly important for me to implement my knowledge and training for the
societal benefits. The effectiveness of the various social works should be judged on the basis of
how I implement my knowledge into it (Greene, 2017). I will solve the doubts and problems of
my clients by showing them the ways on how they could cope up with their problems by
themselves. I have came across various social evils like drug taking, instability at the residential
areas, the abuse of the children and many others through my clients. This has given me with the
scope of how I should address these challenges. I have decided that I will have to display my
skills so I can help those people in the best ways.
I have also raised my voice against discrimination of the people, their abuse and
unemployment issues as well. These personal values, ethics and values will be very much
impactful from the positive aspects indeed. I had to take some pledges that would be integral for
my professional career as well. As some of the critics have said, I would have to respect the
rights of the human beings in the best ways. It would always help me to judge the integrity of the
human beings in the best ways (Parrott, 2014). I have to maintain my commitments to the social

work profession and look forward to the fact that I can always serve the social justice among the
human beings. This will be a very integral fact for saving the rights of the human beings in the
most ways. I will also practice these things in my personal life as well. This will teach me to live
better in my personal life and maintain the social relationships in a better way. I should not
encourage any sort of discrimination or oppression on the economically weaker people within
the society. I should always work for the people who are very much disadvantaged within this
world. I should guide the human beings towards the ways by which they could combat against
the various social evils.
AASW Code of ethics
The AASW code of ethics is a very important matter for measuring the ethical
professional practice within the social work practice. These codes of ethics would have to be
maintained by all the social work practitioners so they can complete their works in a better
manner. Some of the major issues that the social work professionals will have to guide through
are the respect for all the persons, serving the social justice across the world and showing the
professional integrity (Aasw.asn.au, 2018).
As per the code of ethics, I have to believe that all the human beings have the equal worth
and rights in this world. This is the reason I should treat all my clients in the same and equal
manner. This is very integral since those human beings believe that they should be treated with
the same exact way as the other people (Aasw.asn.au, 2018). Apart from that I should ensure that
the human beings who do not have the proper advantages within the society should be given the
proper rights so they can live happily within the social constraints. Some of the elements that are
quite related with this matter are the self-determination of all the human beings should be the

first priority of all the human beings at the first place (Parrott, 2014). My first attempt would be
to make it a sustainable environment for all the people so they can live with harmony and unity
and sharing the equal rights indeed (Aasw.asn.au, 2018). My opinion in this matter is that I
should always respect the cultures of the human beings and their religions as well. As the AASW
codes of ethics have suggested, I should provide the disadvantaged people with the various
opportunities for their self-fulfillment in all the possible ways. The rights of the human rights and
the groups should always be respected indeed. These are the most effective ways by which the
social workers would be able to give the best opportunities to live their lives (Baldwin, 2016).
These codes very effectively fiit with my personal values in the best manner. It is because
I have always wanted to provide the human beings with the opportunities so they can develop
themselves in the best manners. My social and ethical responsibility towards these people would
be to listen to their problems and prepare some strategies which would be highly effective in
mitigating the issues. The rights of all the people should be maintained and I should look after
these issues properly as well (Baldwin, 2016). I will have to be much competent in the cultural
matters and this should be one of the most important things as well. I will have to give value to
the unique skills that all the people have within this world. In this context,
I must not forget to mention that I will have to build the proper community relationship
with the aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders (Payne, 2015). The racial and cultural abuses
should be protested and this should be on the top of the list for me. I will have to make sure that
clients could get the proper access to the decision making processes in the best ways. Another
thing that I should concentrate upon is the fact that confidentiality and self-determination fact
should be the main issues in this manner. I will have to engage with my clients of different social
and ethnic groups when it comes to collaborating in social relationships. The service system for

the customers should be safe from the cultural section (Cocker & Hafford-Letchfield, 2014). It
also fits into my ethical responsibilities since I will be liable for maintaining a culturally safe
environment in all types of people can contribute by showing their skills.
Reflection on the statement
In this section the reflective analysis will have to be presented on a statement that is
Unconditional positive regard for the other is a core ethical position for professional social
work practice’. I believe that it is a very important issue for displaying the ethics within the
constraints of the social responsibilities. As per the critics, the unconditional positive regard is a
significant matter in the field of the social work practice. The healthy development of the people
is extremely essential since the disadvantaged people will have to be given the equal rights
properly in every scenario (Rogers, 2012). I think that we, the social work practitioners act as the
therapists for the humanistic development of the people within the different cultural and ethnic
backgrounds. I have to be very much careful when I undertake the responsibilities of my clients
invariably. I must find out the problems and the disadvantages that they are facing at that
moment. These issues will be highly important because these clients often suffer from negativity.
The only way to give them the proper mental support is to make them feel positive in all the
works they do (Cocker & Hafford-Letchfield, 2014).
The change initiatives for the current scenarios will have to be anticipated. In the words
of the experts, this is a very critical job since I have to understand the current mental situations of
the clients. I have to practice the ethical principles when it comes to provide the people with the
better opportunities for improvement. As per the suggestion of the critics, I must focus properly
on the relationship-based practice (Rogers, 2012). I must follow the person-centered approach

properly as well. This is why it will be highly important to implement the various positive
approaches to their activities (Hugman, 2012).
There are certain issues or conflicts regarding this matter as well. It is because of the
conflicts that could arise from this issue. The people will not be able to understand the purpose of
the social workers when they will apply the person-centered approach. This can endanger the
entire fact or process (Beckett, Maynard & Jordan, 2017). The risk management will have to be
handled properly over this issue and the ill effects of consumerism will have to be abolished
from the context. The service user supports might not work as expected as well. However,
another matter in this scenario is the non-directive practice (Hugman, 2012). The ability and
capacity of the self-determination will be a huge issue in this context as well. The risk
management programs should be dealt with utmost care in this practice of social and ethical
responsibility and cumulative effects on the minds of thee clients effectively.
Conclusion
As per the above discussion, I can conclude by saying that the social work practice is a
very vast aspect and the people will have to be very cautious when they will undertake the
responsibilities of doing well to the others. The people must analyze the various problematic
issues within the society and the lives of the clients. These are the times they will have to handle
the clients with the proper positive regard. I must be very faithful to my work and serve the
society in the best ways I can, This will improve the social environment and cater to the
development of the human beings.
