PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
A training project is undertaken for Hudson Bay with an aim of providing training
to the employees of the store regarding handling of thieves and shoplifters. The
SMART objectives of the project are as follows-
Specific: To provide a specific training plan to Hudson Bay
Measurable: To implement the training program within 5 months
Achievable: To ensure maximum participation of the staffs and employees of
Hudson Bay for the training
Relevant: To ensure that other shops undertaken similar training program by
showing the positive outcomes of the training program.
The proposed project will be based on above identified objectives. A project plan
will be developed as per the identified objectives.
The identified SMART objectives helps in giving a sense of direction to the
specified goals of the project. The identified SMART objectives will help Hudson
Bay, achieve its goals. The actual training program will last for one month
maximum. However, planning and implementation of training program will require
significant amount of time and accordingly, a project plan with detailed work
activities that are needed to be completed are developed.
PURPOSE:
The issue of theft or shoplifters is a common problem that is faced by a number of
stores. As a solution to the identified problem, a training program is proposed for
Hudson Bay that will train the employees and the staffs of the stores regarding the
technique of dealing with the thieves.
The project has been authorised as majority of the retail stores including Hudson
Bay, Superstore, Walmart and others are facing problems of theft and shoplifting
(Potdar, Guthrie & Gnoth, 2018). The purpose of the project is to provide training
to the staffs and employees of for Hudson Bay, as it can help in reducing or
eliminating the issue of theft. Therefore, the project is justified. The project is
authorised as it has certain business benefits Lasky, Fisher & Jacques, 2017) .
Addressing the issues related to shoplifting can save a considerable amount of
business loss and therefore, undertaking this project is justified.

The initiative taken by Hudson Bay will prove to be beneficial from the business
perspective of the organization (Hopkins & Gill, 2017). The needs and the benefits
of the training program will be accessed at the end of training session (Perlman,
Y., & Ozinci, 2014). This will be done by collecting feedback from the participants
of the training program. Feedbacks from the participants of the training program
will be collected in order to evaluate the importance implementing the training
program. The training will involve martial arts training as well to deal with the
thieves, if the situation goes out of hand.
SCOPE:
The in-scope requirements of the project are as follows-
To implement a training program
To ensure maximum participation of the employees in the training
To receive feedback from the shop owners regarding the training
The out-scope requirements (boundaries) of the project are as follows-
The project will not include firearms training
The training project will not involve the employees who are working for
less than three months in the shop.
However, there are certain project constraints as well, which are as follows-
As of now, a onetime training program is proposed which is a major
constraint
The project success is largely dependent on maximum participation. The
project will only be successful if maximum project participation is achieved.
The identified in-scope and out-scope project requirements helped the project
team of Hudson Bay in development of the project plan. The major constraint of
the project as of now is that the proposed training program will be a onetime
activity and it would not include the employees who are working in Hudson Bay for
less than three months. This would give rise to a need to implementing similar
training program in future as well, since the issue of shoplifting is hard to solve in
such a short span of time. However, as of now, a onetime training program is
proposed, success of which might implicate similar training programs in future.
DELIVERABLES:

This section of the project report will provide the details of the major deliverables
associated with the project. The training program that is undertaken by Hudson
Bay will be implemented in a planned approach. Accordingly, a project plan is
developed that will help in better management of all the necessary tasks
associated with the project. The table below indicates the major project
deliverables and the expected time for completion of the project deliverables.
Deliverables Required Time (in weeks)

The table above identifies the project deliverables and the time required complete
each task. Time required to complete a particular activity is mentioned in the table
as well. However, the time specified indicates the time required to complete each
activity and the activities are not being implemented in a sequential manner. A
number of activities are being implemented in parallel so that the entire training
project is completed with the set time of 5 months.
PRIORITY:
The project is a high priority project as shoplifting and theft is a major issues in these
days. In order to solve the issue, a solution of training the employees and staffs,
working in the shops is being proposed. Thus, this project is considered to be a high
priority project.
Quick implementation of the proposed training program is necessary in order to
ensure that the problems of shop lifting is eliminated (Collins, Ricks & Van Meter,
2015). However, the implementation of this project is largely dependent on willingness
of the employees and staffs in participating in the training program.
Therefore, the priority of the project in terms of its implementation is to identify
whether the employees are willing to participate in the training program to make it a
success.
