Introduction
Bandcamp is a music and video streaming application which enables users to listen to music of
their choice by the use of internet. The Bandcamp company wants to add more facilities to its
application to make it more popular among the users. In this project,Bandcamp will be
considering adding new features to the application. Bandcamp will take user’s feedback for
selection of the project which is most preferred by the users which should be added. The selected
project will be designed with the use of different methodologies and those methodologies will be
discussed in the project in detail. By the end of this project, we would be able to know the
process of integrating new services into an existing application. The pre-existing features will
also be incorporated and updated where needed. The users will have a whole new level of
experience in using the Bandcamp application. The company wants to add more fun and
entertainment into user’s life to make them stress-free.

LO1 Be able to formulate a project
1.1 Formulate and record possible outline project specifications
Bandcamp wants to formulate development of two different projects. The first relates to
provision of country-specific services and the second project is related to integration of social
media using Facebook. the specification for each project is described below:
Project name: Specific service for different countries
Project Definition: For many years, Bandcamp was using same services for all countries
relating to languages of music. Now, with the enhancing features, Bandcamp’s management
team has decided to provide some specific services for different countries. This will require
selection of different languages for different countries and may also require a subscription for
some specific language.
Additional Objectives:
 An easy way of maintaining user’s taste of music in different regions.
 Giving new recommendations to users according to their taste.
 Providing new services to artists for their type of choices.
Risks:
 A big number of languages to be added.
 Permissions and rights of users should be properly and carefully integrated.
 Learning curve might be longer than what is expected.
 Tracking GPS for region selection may be difficult at times (ServiceInsight, 2018).
Constraints:

 £17,000 has been allocated for the purpose of this project which also involves integration
of GPS services.
 The project should be completed within 2 months.
Successful Completion:
 The majority of users have selected their preferred language and enjoying songs in their
favourite language.
 Many new users have chosen to stream the Bandcamp music after integration of some
new languages.
Project Name: Facebook Integration
Project Goal: Bandcamp is planning to integrate social media with its application to be able to
promote its use more among the youngsters. It would facilitate sharing the songs and videos on
Facebook and also Facebook would advertise about Bandcamp to the users (Apps, 2018).
Bandcamp is planning to get popularized among the youth through the use of Facebook and
wants to develop itself within a short span of time.
Additional objectives:
 A smart way to advertise itself.
 Videos and music could be shared among friends over other Media.
 Would also conduct short surveys over Facebook in short time intervals.
 The best-featuring songs would be displayed in the side panel of Facebook.
 Adding new songs and features would also be asked by users through short questionnaires on
Facebook.
Constraints:
 The integration should be applied within 1 month.
 The final version of the application should be delivered within 3 months.
 The total cost of this is estimated to be £20000 along with Facebook licensing.

 Users could invite their friends through Facebook with a referral code to join Bandcamp.
Risks:
 A development team should be informed immediately and Facebook team should be
contacted. This could lead to possible chances of getting a refusal from the team.
 Time delays may take place, as contacting Facebook and getting back their response can take
time.
 It is possible that Facebook charges more amount than expected.
Successful Completion:
 It is expected that this new feature will be liked by the users and get a good response.
 The Bandcamp app and website get an increase in traffic by 30%.
 Increase in a number of users of Bandcamp.

1.2 Identify the factors that contribute to the process of project selection
In the given two projects on Bandcamp in 1.1, the senior manager has decided to go ahead with
the first project of “Country Specific Services” by considering the following factors.

Total Cost: When the companyconsiders integration of social media integration, it has to bear
the licensing costs etc. So that it can easily use other Media to popularize its own services.
Whereas if the company wants to integrate the service for specific countries, it has to integrate
GPS in its own application. The estimated cost for social media integration would be £20000
whereas country-specific services would cost £22,000 as per estimation.

Possible Financial Benefit: As the company conducted the survey and took user’s feedback, it
noticed that the user’s preferredcountry-specific service more than social media integration. And
according to estimation also, the company finds country-specific service integration more
financially beneficial (Simplilearn.com, 2018).
