What treatment fidelity issues did Rubin encounter during this evaluation? What are
some of the possible reasons that these issues occurred?
In close association to the findings of the case study, it can be said that the study
reflected a number of treatment fidelity issues. Firstly, the study design that was adopted for
the completion of the project was faulty and was not aligned to the objectives of the project.
Further, it can also be stated in this regard that the project director was extremely biased and
allocated critical cases to her department which clearly reflects an example of inappropriate
governance. Also, it should be noted in this regard that the project director extended the
tenure of the patient treatment based on her assumptions of recovery. At the same time, it
should also be noted that the time-series design findings substantially stated that the program
had failed in delivering effective outcomes to the clients (McCormack et al., 2013). In
addition to this, it should also be noted that the families enrolled under the ADP program
received more social support compared to the overflow families. The discrepancy in the
project design and the implementation was recognized at the preliminary stage and was
informed to the project director. The justification presented by her included the excuse that
her failure to comply with the overflow design of the project was on ground of attending to
the critical patients who needed specialized care. This was further backed up by her biased
approach to send critical cases to her department and assigning others as overflow families.
The possible reasons that can be held responsible for the treatment fidelity issues include,
misuse of power and position and the greed to acquire findings from the funding authority.
