INTRODUCTION Managing projects is said to be a practice that consists with a range of elements like initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and lastly monitoring if the final goal is achieved or not. Here, it can be said that the primal objective of a project manager is to attain specific goals and objectives to attain goals of a particular project within specified constraints (Basu, 2017). In present report, firm which has been chosen i.e. ABC PLC, who has a history of making successful mergers and acquisitions in support of its strategic growth objectives. Company has decided to do acquisition with DEF Ltd, which is a business organisation dealing or operating at market as a high street frozen food retailer. Report is going to be enclosed with a range of things like Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Gantt Chart and number of risks that a project carried in present time. TASK 1) a. Key characteristics of any project In present time, a project carries ample number of characteristics and these are presented underneath: Project is basically developed for betterment of both company and of targeted customers. A project basically stays temporary in nature and it typically consists with both start along with the end. Along side this, a project basicallystaysunique in nature as it carriesa set of requirements that a project manager looks forward to fill across the boundaries of this project. Away with this, project can typically be more of a once off endeavour, rather than something that’s happening all the time in a repeated fashion. Including this, a project is not ‘business as usual’, which is more akin to a process (Castro-Nova, Gad and Gransberg, 2017). b. Purpose of the Project Initiation Document (PID) It is being found that, main purpose ofPID is to ensure that a particular project consists with a commitment of attaining a particular aim or an objective. Another purpose that came in front ofProject Initiation Document (PID)i.e. to act as base document on a particular project, on
which Project Manager is working. With the help of this, all issues in regards to change can easily be found out in specified time frame and through this maximum benefits can also be attained right on time (Crowley, Hinchliffe and McDonald, 2017). 2) a. Scope Statement for a project This is being considered as one of a crucial section, within a project that helps a reader in understanding what research is all about just by reading the statement. Without a scope statement, a project would not give any sort of benefits to both researcher and readers as well. b. Role does the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) have in such a statement The primal most role of WBS carries in a statement is that, it aid more accurately along with specifically in organising the overall scope of a particular project (da Rocha, Kemmer and Meneses, 2016). The most common way this is done is by using a hierarchical tree structure. Work break down structure which is key part of project which organised the team work according to the management sections. It delivers hierarchical decomposition of work to executed project team. 3) Full project Gantt chart and identify the critical path. Its main purpose is to evaluate the project to determine its efficiency, effectiveness, impact and sustainability (Illiashenko and Strielkowski, 2016). Project evaluation involves quantitative as well as qualitative evaluation of project or research. Monitoring:Monitoring a project refers to process of collecting, analysing and using that information to monitor and track the progress of a project. This information guide the manager or leader to analyse performance of project and its aspects to achieve determined objectives.Monitoringisasupervisingactivitytoensureattainmentofobjectivesand performance targets (Görög, 2016). Control:Controlling is a goal oriented function which is defined to ensure that activities are performed as per planned activities. In order to attain planned results from subordinates, a manager needs to exercise effective control over the activities. It is process to evaluate standard performances to actual and make attempts to take corrective actions. From the above statements it is concluded that project evaluation is the best quality method as it evaluates the project both in quantifiable or qualitative manner. This can guide to take corrective actions to improve the quality of products and services to attain the objectives and quality targets effectively (Javani and Rwelamila, 2016). Skills and competencies required by the Project Manager Skills of a Project Manager: For a Project Manager of ABC PLC, project management process is the most important and decisive element where all process related to a particular project is performed.It includes planning, organising a project, time and cost management and many others which assist managers to achieve their preplanned objectives. Skills required for project management are as follows: Leadership-Considering all the information, while executing the program i.e.ABC Plc is acquisition with DEF Ltd, project manager has to be the leader that may aid to achieve project goals. Manager's responsibility is to plan for a project, analyse and evaluate the decisions to run a project effectively and efficiently. When a manager leads a project like

Leading a project for a manager is to coordinate with subordinates and take up their innovative ideas which aids them to gain success. Time Management:Manager of ABC Plc is acquisition with DEF Ltd., must have skills to manage activities related to time such as meetings, seminars etc. Its a manager duty to perform and motivate employees to work in predetermined time period. Completion of work inplanned manner and at time guides manager to attain desired objective and profits. Improper time management creates dissonance among various departments of a firm and lacks coordination among them (Noble, Liu and Hackett, 2017). Communication:Among employers and employees there should be a proper interaction. InABCPlcwhileacquisitionwithDEFLtd.,tomaintainharmonyandsound environment it is to create healthy communication among top management, employees, customers and suppliers. It reduces conflicts and develop understanding in each and every individual of an organisation. Proper communication in a company directs to gain profitability and most important healthy surroundings (Remington and Pollack, 2016). Negotiation:Knowing how to negotiate well could be considered as another crucial skill, which is required by project manager of ABC PLC while acquisition with DEF Ltd. It is hard for every single individual to keep satisfied while attaining specific goals of a particular subject. This skill could help project manager in keeping all the parties much more satisfied as per the requirements. Competencies of a Project Manager: Project manager in an organisation like ABC PLCi.e. dealing at international levelmust have core competencies to regulate a project and identify the needs of project management process to achieve desired results. Its a duty of manager to develop competencies related to project in a company. Some of the core competencies required in an organisation are such as: Conflict Management:It is necessary for aprojectmanager of project like ABC Plc while acquisition with DEF Ltd, to create harmony and sound environment. As a project manager in this stage ABC company need to
meet the documentation verification work for more flexibility issues that can be taken into consideration. As the team manager group should be assigned in appropriate way so that every individual can achieve its targets and goals. As a team leadership skill manager should have administration approach while taking into project work. Planning Phase :Another effective planning stage is that in this stage planning which is essential part of project work and hence allocation of resources and skilled labour distribution which necessary required in this phase. time affect the manager (Castro-Nova, Gad and Gransberg, 2017). The major part of business growth which will affect the overall team work. For effective team work the workers need to keep in mind about time. There is starting as well as ending period for every project so the time elements which affect the team leaders. Resourcesfactor:Proper allocation of resources which need to be proper done so that proper work can be distributed. In this skilled employees that have to work in affective way and hence proper growth opportunity should be implemented. In the company of ABC Ltd. Project manger some time not able to find out the skilled employees when ever it is been need it not able to get at proper time so it create issues in the project work (Basu, 2017). Technologicalfactor:Anproblemwhichisbeenseenintheprojectworkis technological factor, hence the tools and techniques which are been used by the project manager which not upgraded or not up to the competitive way so this is also major problem which is been faced by mangers. As per the project manager of the company which need up dated technology that should be used by the workers in the project work. CONCLUSION As per the above mentioned detail report it can be concluded that work which is been done by the project manger should be in such way that it brings best outcome to the project and it is also been mentioned about mangers skills which need for the effective growth of project work plan.
