2PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Part One: MOV – Measurable Organizational Value
Measurable Organizational Value or MOV is a set of parameters that determine the final
outcome of the project.
Desired Area of Impact – The desired area of impact in this project is the customer as
Globex wants to fulfill the customer requirements in order to exploit a new market. The company
also seeks financial growth and hence, the second desired area of impact is finance. Globex aims
to build up a successful and sustainable business with the sale of the online management system
to the stud farms.
Value – The most important value for this project is “better”. Globex wants to deliver a
system that will be better and much more efficient that the existing manually managed systems.
Globex also aims to provide the customers with value for the money i.e. since the stud farm
managers will have make significant payments to purchase the software, they should also get the
best quality services and features that will completely solve the problems faced by them in their
current manually operated system.
Metric – The metrics to be used for this project are budget, schedule and also cost benefit
from the project. In other words, the project needs to fulfill these factors like budget limit, time
frame and certain percentage of time frame in order to achieve success.
Timeframe – For the project, an estimated timeframe of 6 months has been set.
Summary of MOV – The project will be done within the limits of 6 months schedule and
a specific budget and will deliver an online management system for stud farms.

Part Two: Scope Management Plan
Scope is defined as the limit of achievement that can be gained from the project. Often
there are numerous expectations from a project some of which are within the scope and some are
out of scope of the project.
The scope of the project is the delivery of an online management system for stud farms
that needs to be completed over the period of next six months. The duty for managing the scope
of the project will be on the IT Specialist who will report to the project manager in case the
project moves out of scope.

It has been assumed that the budget allocation in different project phases will be uniform
and will not vary by much.
The constraint associated with the estimation is that a fixed value has been allocated to
each of the stakeholders.

Part Five: Quality Management Plan
Some of the verification and validation activities to be done in the project are as follows.
Verification Activities Team meeting, project charter submission, project budget and schedule plan
submission, project report submission
Validation Activities Approval of project, post project review
The verification activities are required in order verify certain aspects of the project and
get approval for proceeding with the project. The verification activities are generally done during
team meetings and documents like budget plan, schedule plan, project report can be verified by
project manager and / or supervisor.
The validation activities are the stages where the progress of the project is validated for
further work. These activities include approval of project after planning and review of the project
after the end product is handed over.

Part Six: Closure and Evaluation
Article 1 – Kerzner, H., & Kerzner, H. R. (2017). Project management: a systems
approach to planning, scheduling, and controlling. John Wiley & Sons.
As per the works of the authors, project evaluation and closing is as important as the rest
of the project. This phase helps the project manager to judge the outcome of the project and
determine whether it has been a success or failure. The project evaluation is mainly done in two
methods – quantitative and qualitative. In quantitative project evaluation, the statistical aspects of
the project like budget used, duration of project, cost benefits achieved and others are evaluated.
On the other hand, in the qualitative project evaluation, the quality of outcomes of the project is
evaluated. Both types of project evaluation are necessary in order to ensure both the statistical
goals and quality goals are achieved in the project.
Article 2 Binder, J. (2016). Global project management: communication, collaboration
and management across borders. Routledge.
As per the authors, the project closing should not be done before an in-depth review is
conducted. The review process is to be done in order to ensure all requirements and goals of the
project have been successfully met. Generally, the project manager is responsible for the project
review process although he can be assisted by project supervisor or any other stakeholder in the
process. This is mainly necessary if the project manager is not technically sound and the project
is a core technical project. During the review, the project manager looks at two main things –
whether the final outcome is fulfilled and whether all the stakeholders have fulfilled their roles
and duties in the project. A project is also eligible to be restarted or reopened in case the project
manager decides that the project has not fulfilled all the requirements successfully and needs
Document Page
9PROJECT MANAGEMENT
rework. The project can also be reopened after the review if a stakeholder submits a project
rework request form stating some shortfalls or errors in the project that needs to be worked on
again. Hence, it is evident that project review is an integral part of the project in order to ensure
the project is completed successfully.
Article 3 – Joslin, R., & Müller, R. (2015). Relationships between a project management
methodology and project success in different project governance contexts. International Journal
of Project Management, 33(6), 1377-1392.
The authors emphasized the need for a checklist that helps to remind the stakeholders
about the deliverables of the project. Once all the checkboxes are ticked off, the project can be
verified and closed by the project manager. However, in order to check each box during the final
review, the stakeholder must present evidence for his action i.e. if he ticks it done, he should
have evidence that the ticked activity has been successfully completed in the project. In order to
help the stakeholders and project manager to review the project, the project team members need
to develop a project report document that they will submit at the end of the project. This report is
the documentation of the entire project that should be prepared throughout the course of the
project in order keep a log of activities done in each day of the project.
