3 PROJECT MANAGEMENT Introduction Project management has been an important part in success of a project. Project manager plays an important role in the success of the project. The success of the project depends on several factors including leadership and reducing conflicts among team members. This reports deals with three questions mentioned. The use of leadership skills in the project management has been discussed in the report. a. Leadership skills of project manager As commented byMülleret al. (2018), leadership skills of a project manager have been an important factor in the success of a project. Leaders help in providing a right track and planning for the completion of the project. The use of leadership skills have been helping in maintaining a keen approach in the success of the project. There are various leadership skills that need to be available in the project manager. In order to avail good services from team members, the project manager need to have a proper communication skills with their employees and team members. This help in minimizing the conflicts among team members and manager. A clear and concise idea of the whole project need to be provided to the team members. As per the research done byAgarwalet al. (2017), this helps in maintaining a keen approach to the development of complex projects. Complex projects include several types of objectives that are complex in nature. Therefore, project manager needs ti be active and clear about the objectives of the projects. This might help in maintaining a proper approach in the development of the project. The project manager must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills that help in providing proper approach to the projects. A project manager must be a good instant decision maker that helps in making decision at critical situations of the development of the project.
4 PROJECT MANAGEMENT Project manager needs to be patient and have positive attitude towards the completion of the goals and projects. Complex projects have been a lot of complexities and there might be negative vibes coming out from team members due to dissatisfactions. In such scenario, project manager needs to be patient and listen to team members related to issues and challenges faced by them in the progression of project. This help in providing better advices and solutions to issues of the project. A project manager needs to be a leader and prepare team in a bold way. As per research done byDrouinet al. (2018), team members need to be motivated to complete a complex project on time with quality. Therefore, leader need to conduct motivation sessions for team members time to time. These qualities of project members help in completing complex projects on time with quality. b. Assembling a team It has been an important to gather proper skilled individuals in the team. Recruitment of skilled employees in the team for engaging them in a project has been important. Recruitment process needs to be based on the requirement of the project. The requirements and objectives of the project need to be handled properly before recruiting staff for the project. As commented by Landay & DeArmond, (2018),recruitment process include a systematic process from sourcing candidates to arranging interview for selection in the team. Recruiter’s need to focus in the need of the project that include skills and knowledge required for employees to be in the projects. The gals and objectives of the project need to be clear and concise among recruiters. During the interview process, recruiters need to focus on these requirements before selecting a candidate for the project. Therefore, this causes conflicts among team members and decrease quality of project. However, these conflicts can be minimized by following ways: Proper communication skills of project manager Good leadership skills of project manager Clear and concise goals and objectives Understanding among team members Proper knowledge and skills set of team members Training and motivation of team members Conclusion This report has focused on the leadership skills of the project manager and his role in the managingcomplexprojects.Thisreporthasfocusedonassemblingteammembersfor completing a project with a success. There have been several questions asked in the report that help in recruiting proper individuals having skills and knowledge about the project. The third part have discussed about the conflicts in the project. The causes and solutions of the conflicts have been discussed in the report.
