Lisak, A., & Erez, M. (2015). Leadership emergence in multicultural teams: The power
of global characteristics. Journal of World Business, 50(1), 3-14.
Introduction
The article mainly reflects on the emergence of leadership within the multicultural
team which is considered as one of the important as well as global characteristics. It is found
that proper development of theories related with person development which generally fits on
the various pattern based approach. Proper emergent leaders within the multicultural team
generally scores much higher as compared to the non-leaders in context to the three different
global characteristics for cultural intelligence, global identity as well as proper openness to
the diversity of the culture. Moreover, in this particular hypothesis is generally tested based
on the sample of 317 students who are mainly engaged within a four week joint project
within the virtual multicultural team. In addition to this, it is analyzed that employing o the
logistic regression analysis which helps in revealing that the various individuals who
generally scored very high based on three different characteristics are generally emerge as
leaders other than the project teams.

challenges that generally helps in creating synergy diverse as well as geographical
subsidiaries that are dispersed which further coordinates the activities for achieving effective

similarities that is mainly based on the concepts of leadership-based characteristics based on
the culture (Northouse, 2017). It is analyzed from the paper that leadership can generally be
emerged in three different ways that are studying emergence of the multicultural team,
studying phenomenon that is not earlier studied as well as differentiating different types of
emergent leaders. The three objectives can generally be achieved by using four different lines
of research including the leadership emergence, pattern approach as multicultural team as
well as person environment fit related approach.
The study that is designed generally helps in enabling the assessing of various types
of global characteristics that are generally formed with the help of the project team members
for testing the team that generally emerged as one of the leader that generally has higher level
of characteristics in comparison to other team members (Komives & Wagner, 2016). It is
found that such type of design is very much difficult to achieve within the various global
organizations where the various multicultural team uses different stages of the maturity. The
design generally helps in testing the hypothesis which generally has proper level of the
cultural intelligence (Robertson, 2016).
In addition to this, it is revealed from the present study that global individual
characteristics are very much important for the proper emergence of leadership within the
various multicultural teams (Heifetz & Linsky, 2017). The HR departments of the
organizations generally considered different types of efforts while selecting the training
expatriates. Moreover, it is analyzed that the HR programs within the global organizations
generally focuses on the knowledge that is generally based on the behaviours as well as
norms which are generally relevant to specific cultures (Sanders, 2017). These programs are
generally helpful in engaging within the cross-cultural perspective as they generally
emphasize various types of similarities as well as differences in the values as well as
behaviours that generally exists between different organizations.
