According to the Armstrong, Kotler and Brennan, (2015) business policy plays
significant role within an organisation because it communicated the expectation of the firm
related to employees performance. The business policy basically deals with the decisions related
to the future of ongoing enterprises for instance policy decision which are taken by the top level
after determining the strength of the firm and weakness. Business policies are set for a long time
so they are established carefully such as policy can be developed after evaluating the internal and
external factors which have the impact on the firms market standing. There are different types of
policy such as marketing, financial. Personnel policies etc. However, in each of the area, specific
policies are developed.
As per the view of Papadopoulos and Heslop, (2014) the essential function of business
policies are to defined and classified the objectives of the firm. Further, it also acts as the main
foundation for evaluation and to determine the quality of action and decision which is taken by

There are many policies whic are emanate from good plans so it can be stated that policy play
significant role within an organisations.
2.3 The link between business polices and corporate objectvies.
According to the view of Wheelen and Hunger, (2017) business policies are guidelines
that provide facility to the firm to accomplish its predetermined objectives. While the business
objectives are basically endpoints that are linked to the plans for the reaching the company goal.
The objectives and business policies both are formulated into plans as it determined by a
business organisation. At the time objective is the plan and the policy is the mode and way which
is used for reaching all the objectives. The objectives of the business are basically based on the
production of the company and policies. All the policies which are developed by the
management after reviewing the objective which is in accordance with the business needs.
For instance, if company objectives are to retain employees then it needs to implement
employees promotional policy which can retain them for longer time Policy also assist managers
to no waste time in analysing the situation and work hard for accomplishing the aims and
objectives. Policy leads to encouraging initiatives and discretion and it also makes sure that it
lives within limits. There are many organisations who do not policy as per accordance with
objectives due to which they face the barrier in attaining the objectives. For example, if the
company want to increase the productivity or make the innovative product then it needs to
implement the training policy so that employees skills can be improved and they work with more
efforts for the company.
At the time when all the policies are align with the business objectives then the firm
operates in services. If the firms policies does not provide assistance to its objectives, then it
impact the entire organisations. As employees get dissatisfied with their work and they may not
feel motivated toward their work which leads to impact the organisation. Further, if the policy of
the firm expresses its objectives then it leads to the greater degree of specificity and it affects the
goals and objectives of the firm. Some time company also need to make changes in its polices as
if the objective of the firm get changes so that it become easy for the employees to work
accordingly. To creat a business objectives it important for measuring the growth and profits. As
it is depended on the business and its goals. Types of objectives which are set in the organisation
such as to achieve sales and profits, increase productivity, gain market share etc. With the help of
policy, it becomes easy for the firm to accomplish the objectives effectively and efficiently.

Business policies signify the roles and responsibilities regarding the top level managers
and the issue that is arising which affecting the business performance and also affecting its
decision-making process in the long run. The corporate objective refers to those plans, policies,
and framework set up by the strategical level management to conduct down its business by using
those policies the business can achieve its objectives. Both are providing the link to each other in
the absence of one the other is having a no use (Johnson, Whittington, Scholes and Regnér,
2013). When business policy is linked with objectives, a business will be more flexible and will
conduct its operations more effective and better and that directly helps in generating more
productivity because every people know there roles and responsibilities and when companies
policies do not support the corporate objectives that create confusion among employees and
work will not be performed in a right manner and that led to affect its productivity and work
culture under the organisation. Evaluate the policies regarding the management practices,
Organisational policies, IT system management policies by ensuring down all the proper
compliances and due diligence work and evaluate the proper framework regarding it and
implement ing various policies and plans and carried out the task as per that and prepared the
checklist according to that, so no complications would be arising and business will raise its
corporate objectives (Padachi, Ramsurrun and Ramen, 2017). Policies should cover all the
business and law-related requirements and fulfilled those and it should carry down the work as
the legal procedure and accept down all the legal requirements which need to be fulfilled to work
better and that directly helps in achieving organisational objective and company would be doing
better and that directly helps in raising sales.
The fiscal policy decision is also made an impact under organisation which influences
investing decision-making decision taken by the investor and those fiscal policies decisions
sometimes the corporate objectives difficult. The customer satisfaction policy enhance the
product marketability and make the customer and product relationship better and enhance its
value that directly fulfills down its objective and it also expanding the companies market and
improve the quality and it improves its costing and creating loyalty among customers (Singh, and
Bhatia, 2015). The environmental policy also having a direct link with objectives because while
conducting activity , business should have to follow the environmental and strategical approach
and have to made contribution under CSR that policy helps down company by attracting down
more and more customers and also shifting its focus onto the minds of stakeholders regarding

investment was done and also generate returns that achieving corporate objectives of the
company in way of increasing its market value of share and build a strong brand image and that
directly made a huge impact on sales. So, by this way, the business policy which is set up by the
company helps in achieving organisational objectives of the company.
2.4 To evaluate the impact of business policies for accomplishment stated corporate objectives-
A retail industry
According to the view Slack, Corlett and Morris, (2015), there is the great impact of the
business policies for accomplishment stated corporate objectives of the firm. It business policies
is not framed according to the objective then the company may get fail in accomplishing its goal.
As it leads to directly impact the sales and profit of the firm. Many different companies under the
retail industries in terms of food, clothing and so on where the business policies could affect it
and although, it is a challenge for the retailers to continue its operations while considering out its
impacts in terms of positive and negative and evaluate it and accomplished its objectives.
Negative Impacts of business policies under retail industry
As per the view of Johnson, Whittington, and Regnér, (2013) the certain taxes regulation
and change in tax policies and procedure is essentially made the business activities difficult
because the tax aspects and regulatory methods are not same under each country and change in
interest rates and taxation rates made a huge impact on the business of retailers because
everytime retailers have to follow it and would have to undergo in different aspects which is
different in each country and company have to fulfilled at any cost cost while conducting its
operations.regarding,it the company have to fulfilled down the demand and supply requirements
which is essentially different and depends upon the demographic transition which taking place in
country some of them are changes in taste, fashion, and preferences of the customers which
made the business difficult. Padachi, Ramsurrun and Ramen, ( 2017) state that the company has
to spend more money on the workers and employees training regarding skill development,
personality development which is essentially an expensive task because these are the certain
persons behind it who will operate and performing down the business activity to meet the goals
of the retail industry. The retail business has to incur down the cost in term of fiscal policy results
in terms of higher interest rates, higher currency rates and it also affected the decision of retailers
and also retailers have to faced down the impact regarding the market policy regarding its

quality, cost and controls which is essentially different and giving negative impacts in all format
and essentially company have to focus on that. Page and Spira, (2016) argued that the certain
positive impacts are also arising from conducting business under retail industry they are as
Corporate Social Responsibility,it is a policy under which retail business contributing time to
time and make the surrounding clean and essentially contributing some percentage under and
developed the concept and conduct its operations ethically and shifted his focus to the
stakeholders who invest in such business and generate returns , that directly helps down the
company in increasing its market share and fulfill its objective. The company raising down his
meets in terms of product by delivering it to the right person at right time and also includes
warranty and claims and also develop the network through which customer can easily
communicate and takes information regarding the products and services, complaining it in course
of dissatisfaction so this can only be possible because of customer service and supporting
policies.

justification process. It also carried out that the numbers of methods which are selecting and
using under recent investigational work make the conclusion productive and effective.
3.2 Type of investigation
The investigation is based on the two approaches that are qualitative and quantitative
and both the concepts are working differently and there object and study is also different. The
qualitative investigation refers to those under which detailed study and depth analysis are done
regarding the investigation al work (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault, 2015). On, the other hand
quantitative investigation based on the statistical and graphical work such as correlation,
regression, standard deviations. It also helps down researcher in comparing down one variable
with another. It also focuses the qualitative factors relating to the investigation and the possible
hurdles that arise under the risk management process. The reason behind it evaluation and taking
such research selecting approach is to conduct its analysis in a depth way and the researcher can
deeply understand the importance of this topic and which is useful for the researcher and
possible results will be come out from that and conclusion can be drawn easily from that in a
validate manner (Brinkmann, 2014). So, the qualitative investigation is more useful because it

will be used during investigation al work are inductive and deductive approaches (Gast, and
Ledford, 2014). Inductive approach demand is based on the work i.e., arranging down the proper
information first and afterwards, collect down the specific data. By, this way the researcher
assessed the observation work by considering down the existing theoretical approaches and
procedures. The quantitative investigation gives better results and made the investigation process
effective and communicative (Kurinczuk, Linsell and Morris, 2016). On, the other side, the
deductive paying attention towards collecting of information in a specific manner and generalise
it. By, this way the research process make the investigation more better and simpler. It also
brings the concept related it by constructing down the new theory and evaluate it which based on
the factual description and aspects.

make research more effective and successful (Wiek and Lang, 2016). There are two types of
techniques which can be used by researcher such as qualitative and quantitative. In qualitative all
the collected information is analysed with the help of non numeric form such as preparing
themes etc. On the other hand on quantiative techniques the information is presented with the
numerical form. Here researcher use different statistical tool such as Z-test, Chi sqaure test etc.
In the present research, investigator is using qualitative method in which all the collected
infromation is presented with the help of themes and chart on the basis of which interpretation is
done (Eisenhardt, Graebner and Sonenshein, 2016). In the present research the researcher is
12
Document Page
using qualitative techniques in which different themes will be prepared with the help of table and
charts on the basis of which interpretation will be done.
3.8 Ethical consideration:
Ethics play significant role in the completeion of the of entire research. So scholar need
to consider ethics at the time of conducting study. Further, it is essential for researcher to
consider ethics while collecting the data and information from the respondents. No, respondent
was forced to take part in the present study and reason for conducting the study is made clear in
front of them. All the personal information provided by the respondents is kept secure and
confidential so that no other can misuse those information (Sekaran and Bougie, 2016). On the
other side while collecting information from secondary sources all the information is cited
properly with evidence. It aids to determine ethical aspect and assist scholar in accomplishng the

this purpose all the information is collected from the authentic sources. The reason behind this is
that, copright protected information sources provide relaible information which help in deriving
the right solution related to the problem (Sutrisna and Setiawan, 2016). Apart from this
secondary infromation is gathered which shows the aims and objectives. All the latest books and
journals are taken into consideration so that aspects related to corporate objectives and policies.
The presented information is highly reliable and valid. Different themes are prepared on the basis
of research aims so that valid resulat can be gather on accordance to its aims and objectives.
Further for making research highly realible qualitative investigation is undertaken and inductive
approach is used by the scholar (Edson, Henning and Sankaran, 2016).
3.10 Research Limitation:
There are some limitation which is faced by scholar at the time of carrying out the
research. Further investigator put all efforts for completing the entire study in an effective
13
Document Page
manner. However, there is lack of monetary resources and time due to which it becomes difficult
carry out detail investigation (Cazeaux, 2017). As per the aspect survey has been conducted in
which questions were asked from 10 managers of Asda company this sample is not too low or
