Health and social care deals with the various challenging behaviour so hence proper
communication skills is required to manage the behaviour (Aveyard, 2014). There is a Care U.K
company which deals with social and health care Report discusses about the restrictive
interventions in health, social care,use of the proactive and reactive strategies to promote the
positive behaviour. .Project explains the ways to promote the positive behaviour and methods to
react to incidents to challenging behaviour.
TASK 1
P.1 Legislations to restrictive interventions in health and social care
There are various rules related to the restrictive interventions in Care U.K are -
Criminal law act, 1967- It deals with all matters of felony and wrong doing. There are
various provisions in which there are several laws are related to felony and wrong doing.
It tells that person gets imprisonment for 5 years if had done any offence and try to do
such offence.
Education and Inspections Act 2006 – It tells that each children in schools get proper
education so that they can develop the potential and skills. There are various duties of
local authorities such as diversity and choice,find children who are not getting
education,functions related to high standards and satisfy the potential. It also discusses
about the creation, modification and closure of various schools.
Health and safety act,1974 - It deals with the welfare ,health and safety of all persons
who are doing any work (Dickinson and O'Flynn,2016). This also saves the life of all
persons against any risk related to health due to persons who are working in the job. It
also prevents the use and keeping of explosive or flammable substances.

There are various interventions which can promote the positive behaviour in health of

Functional Behaviour assessment – They are the methods and procedures which can
monitor the reason of behaviour of individuals who have communication disabilities
(Hewitt, Sims and Harris, 2014). This process collects the information which can
evaluate the influence of environmental variables on the behaviour and tell reasons of
Health and social care deals with the various challenging behaviour so hence proper
communication skills is required to manage the behaviour (Aveyard, 2014). There is a Care U.K
company which deals with social and health care Report discusses about the restrictive

positive behaviour. .Project explains the ways to promote the positive behaviour and methods to

Minimizing the risk – If there are less interventions to a particular person then it reduces
the risk to the person against any health disease or injury. So person can remain healthy
for a longer period of time (Pulsford and et. al.,2013) .The individual can work efficiently
and effectively if there are less restrictions.
Maintaining effective relationship with the service user - If there are less restrictions to
the service user then the person can do the work efficiently and effectively(Lowes and
Hulatt,2013). As the person is putting less restrictions on another person so hence it
results in maintaining the good and friendly relationship between among both.

The importance of safeguards if restrictive interventions are used. They are -
Prevent excessive use of force – Preventive measures can be provided so that there is no
excessive force can be put on the service user. If there is no extra force on the person then
work can be done more efficiently and effectively. Thus it results in growth and
development of individuals
Prevents injury to the practitioner and service user - If preventive measures are used
then then it protects the service user and practitioner from the injury. It provides safety to
the individuals from any harm or the injury. Thus a person can perform the work with
individual who is disabled can behave in appropriate way to fulfil the needs.

challenging behaviour of any other person.
Physical aggression – It means when any person do the violent behaviour in any situation
it is called physical aggression. It can die to hostile situations and circumstances. So
