Assignment on Prostate Cancer.

This presentation provides an overview of prostate cancer, including its risk factors, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic tests, and treatment options. The risk factors discussed include primary tumour of prostate, PIN, Brca1 gene mutation, ethnicity (African American) male, genetic factors, family history of prostate cancer, and increase in testosterone. The pathophysiology of prostate cancer is explained in terms of the damage to DNA cells caused by external beam radiation, tumour suppressor gene activity, and impact on hormones. The clinical manifestations of prostate cancer include decreased velocity or flow of urine stream, more frequent feeling of urination during night, weak stream, inflammation, issues in sexual performance, weight loss, fatigue, hip/pelvic pain, and occasional blood streaked urine. The diagnostic tests discussed include digital rectal examination, MRI Fusion, and collection of prostate tissue as a sample. The treatment options discussed include hormonal therapy, radical prostatectomy, and NSAIDs.
